The 35m F1.8 DX is Nikons best lens by far. It's very sharp, great color rendition, metal mount, and works on full-frame cameras as a true 35mm (albeit with a small amount of vignetting, easily dealt with in post) Thanks to you and others who refer to it as a 'kit lens' or the crop-body 'nifty fifty', it can be found for very little...
The 35mm was my fist lens I bought after the Kit Lens. It almost blow me away how much better the image quality was compared to the 18-55. I still use it today mostly even I have 50mm 1.4 and 85mm 1.8. The only downside is that its DX only. What a shame. The 35mm 2.0 for FX is not quite as good.
Had a d90 since around 2011, and recently passed it down to my now 15-yr old son for him to use along with the af-s 35mm f/1.8. Unfortunately, pixels are rapidly going out on it, so he will be getting another hand-me-down camera. 😁
Thanks for sharing your experience with great comments....I also love this lens & I leave it on my old D70s ..I do sometimes use it on my D500 as I love the results.... also the Nikon 50mm is a great alternative... cheers from Australia 🦘🦘😊

Thanks for watching :)
How does this lens do in low light or at night time?
Ok - Not the fastest lens --- Id probably go the 1.4 for night work
Always loved this one on Nikon's APSC bodies! :)
