- It's finally here - my Milltek Performance exhaust for the Audi RS3 has arrived. My option from Milltek was the Cat-back Non-resonated system with integrated exhaust valves.
Covid may have delayed the delivery, but now it's time to get this exhaust installed and see how it compares to the Factory system.
Special thanks to:
Will from Short Shift Speed Shop for helping me fit the exhaust

Great video again - well done! ...and I do love watching other people working!
Amazing as usual! Thanks for the quality content 🔥
Awesome sound! You've got me thinking hard about switching over! Great video!
Was thinking about to buy a milltek exhaust for my rs3.. and after this video i will buy one for sure!
Great video & thanks for sharing it 😁
Thanks buddy 🙏 You will loooove it 😁
Awesome sound man!! I'm on the stock rs3 sport exhaust currently but this is tempting!
All you need is non-resonated midpipe and a stage 1 tune.
Best comparison I had seen so far for RS3
Great sounding system!
Great stuff and sounds 👌🏼👌🏼
I fixed my cold start exhaust flap rattle... removed the flap actuator, removed the C spring and opened it up by a few millimetres, then refitted it....what this does is put some extra tension on the flap spindle and as a result the rattling stops 👍🏼
What next is the burning question ? ... I've been considering colour coding the front seat backs to match the bodywork
Omg! Perfection! xx
Brilliant video!
The exhaust rattle you get from these is actually from the turbo actuator mostly. It uses a vacuum based actuator rather than a boost varient. As a result under partial load you get that rattle where the wastegate is rattling.
Ah yer, I've heard people refer to the dreaded wastegate rattle....probably explains why it still does it! 😆
Hi guys
That is a really nice comparison!
So thank you very much for it.
Would you say that you have more downshift pops and bangs with the milltek inferno? 🥰 Greetings from Good old Germany
Vielen Dank 🙏🙏🙏.
I wouldn't say there was 'more' pops and bangs, but they are certainly louder than before. A down-pipe and a tune would definately give you more hehe
The sound is a dream! Unfortunately I can’t make the sound from 8Y model.
Love the video! Well done and informative. So much that I just purchased the exact same for exhaust system for my 2018 Nardo RS3 as well. Have a 2 questions if you don't mind answering please. I did not get a wiring adapter for the valves in my kit, as described to be included when I ordered. Did you need to do anything with the valve wiring harness at all when installing the Milltek? I realize we reuse the OEM valves. Can't see why a wiring adapter would be needed however. Also do you reuse the chassis brace you removed to take off the OEM exhaust? Don't recall see it reinstalled in the video. Thanks in advance sir. Thanks again for sharing your experience and putting this nice video together for us.
Thanks Steve, appreciate the positive feedback. Firstly, yes the chassis brace gets reused in its original position. Secondly, in terms of wiring you shouldn't need any adaptors or patch harnesses, you simply reuse all the factory valve motors and their existing wiring. Once you take the valve motors off the OEM exhaust and put them on the Milltek one, then they simply plug back in to the exisiting valve motor wiring on the car (once you've installed the new exhaust). Hope that helps. If you need more info or pics just DM me on facebook or instagram. 👍
@@frax77 That helps massively!! Thanks so much. I figured as much on the wiring harness. Might be required for a different car model perhaps. If using the same valves, makes sense it would connect to the car the same way. Reattaching the braces makes sense as well. Will be using exhaust paste as you gents did as well. Bet you're loving the car even more with richer tone. The car is simply perfect for me but it's nice to have great aftermarket support to sweeten it up a bit more. I'll be watching more of your videos for sure. Thanks again!
Happy to help. More vids coming soon 😊
Hi Mate
This sound amazing and the neighbours won’t be annoyed too. I got 2020 RS3. Will the same upgrade will void my warranty?
Thanks for assistance
Thanks mate. It's best to check with your dealer but as it's only a cat back it shouldn't void your warranty. Good luck 👍
Great video. So your rs3 didn’t have the opf?
I have ordered an rs3 8Y which comes with opf. I want to know how to make best roar 5 cyl sound without ecu mapping.
Mine didn't have OPF. I know there are options for OPF cars but I'm not sure if they require remapping. A simple cat back will at least get you on the right track 😊
great vid! it sounds awesome!! what wheels does Brian have on his car?!
Cheers mate. Bryan runs Koya SF11 in their Onyx colour (like a dark gunmetal). They look pretty sweet 👌
@@frax77 yours are much nicer, but too rich for my blood lol
Lovely Frax, sounds amazing man! What average fuel consumption do you get when driving dynamic and comfort? PS great job!
I think you might be the first person to ask about my fuel economy 😊 To be honest mate I never really look, but I'm happy to do a comparison and let you know. Spoiler alert, I have a heavy foot 😆
@@frax77 Haha,i love the fact u have a heavy foot so keep pushing it and keep up the great work. I will hear from you. Thanks in advance.
@@frax77 Please try a comparison in dynamic and comfort. Thanks mate.
Nice video but I think OEM Sound very good 👍,I got 2020 OPF and With Miltex will be Massive Different.
Hey mate, loved the video, may I ask where you got your exhaust from??
Performance Crate. Tell Xen I sent you...awesome guy to deal with 👍 (info in description)
@frax77 I am installing one of these on my tt-rs this weekend. Did you guys find that one of the harnesses was barely long enough to reach the motors after you moved them to the milltek?
@SupercarSean no there was enough slack on the RS3 install 👍
Sounds good !
Is the milltek all you have done for exhaust work? Looks in the video that you had no secondary catalytic converter‘s just befor the down pipe ?
Thanks mate. Yes, the Milltek is all that's done at the moment. The FL RS3 with the performance exhaust doesn't come with secondary cats... well not here in Oz anyway. 😊
@@frax77 no problem!
And I guess the cars come different for countries. I just got my milltek cat back in the mail yesterday so I’m going to get it putt on today
@@dustinkrew5513 very exciting. You will love it 👍
@@frax77 definitely and I waited four months to get it !
Haha me to.... thanks Covid 🤦
So I’m guessing it didn’t throw a code ??? Good explanation to about cabin noise. I’m wondering if to trade up from a pfl but it sounds mint and some people wreck the noise of fl ie. zututu
Nah no codes thrown. Generally speaking the PFL are much louder with more pops and bangs. Us FL boys keep trying to be as noisey as the PFL crowd lol
Well keep up the good content can’t wait for your downpipe results
Hey man! I was on the fence with this exhaust but after this video i’m sold!🔥 how is the highway drone for the cabin since this car would be my daily, also when I called to order this they said that the valves on the miltek come already assembled, do I use the stock ones and still unscrew them on my stock exhaust? Thanks!
Highway drone is fine for me. For really long trips I just close the valves. The valves are assembled, you just need to transfer the motors from the stock system to the new one. You will love it man 😁👍
@@domturbocharged7660 that's it! It will all make sense once it's lying in front of you. Best of luck. Let me know how you go 😊
@@frax77 yes thank you also do you have any pictures of what the hangers are supposed to look like? When you say to flip them over what do you mean?
@@domturbocharged7660 msg my thru IG or FB and I'll send you thise pics. 👍
@@frax77 awesome just messaged you!
God that sounds good. Any other mods like intake, Tune, etc. ? Thanks.
At the time of filming just an intake. Car is now tuned as well....video coming soon 😁👍
@@frax77 Thank you 👍🏻 Sorry one more question, not sure if I missed it, but did you do the down pipe, and if so, is it de-catted?
Just a cat back. Downpipe is still standard.
@@frax77 Ahhh, ok thanks. That is surprisingly LOUD for just a cat-back. My Golf R is getting TTRS DAZA swapped and I have a 3.5" cat'ed downpipe going into a 3" X-Force Exhaust + Open intake, intercooler, Stg 2 tune, and I'm trying to estimate what mine will sound like based off your video (Very helpful, love the OEM Vs. Modded) soooo, should be pretty frikin' loud 😅. Here is one of the build episodes here on CZcams : czcams.com/video/488LjAI8Y1M/video.html
Just to clarify, this catback exhaust means the CAT is still there but there's no muffler/resonator etc right?? Im looking for a new exhaust but I wanna keep the cat in case the car gets inspected and I've also heard removing the cat causes the car to stink.
Yes that's correct. The cat is in the dump pipe. The cat back system is literally just from base of the dump pipe back.
What made you go with milltek? I’m looking at awe track exhaust too. Thanks.
There are heaps of options which can make it a bit confussing. For me it came down to a simple design and good pricing. Oh and the exhaust tips....I was originally thinking of IE, but not a fan of their tips.
Thanks for the video I ordered the same catback! Did you bring the OEM catback home? I don’t think it will fit inside the car.
@@job5908 congratulations! Yes, I brought the OEM exhaust home and hung it on my wall (watch my video of the Swisstrax garage floor install and you'll see it). But, I used a friends truck to go grab it a few days later. You might be able to fit it in the car but you'd want to wrap it up well to avoid damage to seats and centre consoles. 😊
I own a golf r and this makes me want a rs3 saloon so bad
Haha they're a great car...but so is the Golf R 👍😁
How loud is it inside the car? And does it have any drone on the highway? Thanks
The cabin on the RS3 is really well insulated so it's pretty quiet inside. In terms of drone, it's minimal. As you pass by roughly 2500rpm the harmonics increase a bit but personally I don't find it offensive. Keep in mind that as it retains the valves, you can just pop it in to comfort for long drives. 👍
You know that when you start the car you have to out it manual again in dynamic to open the waves
I run a CETE controller which keeps the valves where I set them (as well as drive mode and auto stop/start setting)....but yes you're right, this is the case for those without some form of override controller.
Lovely sound! But the Delta at 12:03 ❤️
Haha yer, it has quite a story behind it. Will do a video on it one day. 👍
@@frax77 sounds great! Is it an intregale?
Yer, Integrale Evo
I want to modify my m3/Audi rs3. Can you recommend me? Thank you
Start with a catback exhaust or a stage 1 tune. Video of my stage 1+ will be coming soon 👍
@@frax77 can't wait👍🏻👍🏻
Hello !! I got same one. YEAHHHH!!! THE SOUND IS AMAZING,right ? :-)
I'm loving it man 😄
So you both are sattisfied yes? 😁 i am actually looking for an aftermarket System too
@@matthewmatthew5978 still loving it 😁👍
Hi im a french guy, there is a real difference beetween before and after ? it really worth the investment ?! thanks
There is a significant difference between stock and the Milltek. Keep in mind that this is the non-resonated version. Go for it mate, you won't be disappointed.
@@frax77 thx for your opinion. With th RS exhaust (OEM) you dont have second cat, is it true ?
Yes that is correct. Just the primary.
Sounds nearly the same on video. How is the difference in real life? Milltek or Bull X
I haven't heard a Bull X to be able to compare. I would say the Milltek is 30% louder than stock, just at a rough estimate.
Is this an OPF model rs3?
My RS3 is a 2017, so non OPF.
Hey mate how did you get your front lights flashing ?
Oh they aren't flashing mate, it's just the way the camera picks up LED light....something to do with shutter speed versus frequency of the lights. 😊
Hi , go your car have OPF ?
No, mine is pre OPF.
What headlights are those?
At that stage they were just factory with a slight tint wrap on them.
So the car just has the miltek exhaust on and that’s it?
The only other addition is the IE intake....otherwise it was mechanically stock at the time of filming.
@@frax77 nice that bitch sounds awesome
rs3 with opf or not?
Not 😄
Hi ! May I know is stock car ? I mean no remap ? Thanks
At the time of the video, it was stock, yes.
@@frax77 thanks and it was impressive but did you said is not much different if you are driving ?
In terms of performance, it's not a huge change, no.
@@frax77 I mean the sound from inside the car 😅 can’t hear much different? Thanks
Ah yes, the cabin is very well insulated so if your windows are shut it only sounds a little louder. BUT, outside the car sounds amazing 😄
