- Geez, Pokemon Sun and Moon certainly are taking a long time, so enjoy yet another filler game! Well, I guess it's not filler, it's just shorter. Welcome back to Kanto! Glad to hear it, it was pretty easy to fit in with the Game Boy's resolution. I probably can't do it unless I modify the layout for Emerald, but I'll take a look at what I can do.

I like the addition of the “available this section” graphic, but would it be possible to add transparency, a checkmark, or some other way to say “as of this moment, I have caught/evolved these Pokemon, and still have these to obtain”?

that is because the shaking animation of the pokeball in gen1 is based on the rng roll that checks if a pokemon is caught based on its catch rate. zapdos' catch rate is so low that if you use a low-tier ball to attempt it, you will either miss the throw or catch it because there is no inbetween.
Even if you have an Ultra Ball and it’s at low health and under a status, it’ll be that way. - a person who caught all three legendary birds in this game.
@@agirlinsearchof9057 Might be, yeah. The shake animation is supposed to be an indicator of how close you were to a capture but it's pretty worthless in some cases.

Back in the day I always use to catch this and use to argue with Psypokes Admins who insisted that a level 9 Pidgeotto didn't exist. Still to this day the Pokemon yellow walkthrough on the website doesn't have it listed.
Futhermore Falkner's Pokemon were originally his father's Pokemon

yeah, but the glitch for Mew could get you every other pokemon in the game, so it’s kind of like a “no exceptions” thing

To answer your question as to why Lt.Surge only has one pokemon; It's another anime tie-in, he only uses a Raichu against Ash.
Fighting moves against Pidgeotto say they're super effective because the game only checks the first of the target's 2 types when calling the effectiveness text. It's still only 1x effective because the 2x for Normal and .5x for Flying cancel each other out.
And in some cases it checks for the second, not sure the exact pattern though
I believe it actually does check the second type if it's neutral vs the first type
Hey chaotic, there are 5 moon stones in Yellow. I have all the evolutions in my copy. One is a hidden one by clicking on something in Mt. Moon
It's funny how Gen5 was actually the first generation to not include a visitable version of Kanto
And gen 6 is so far the only generation (Not counting gen 8 since it's not finished yet) to not feature the Kanto Gym Leaders

@@DocDoesGamingYT The entirety of X and Y is a homage to gen 1, don't forget the Kanto starters you can choose, the Snorlax fight, the Lapras gift, and the fact that Mewtwo and the 3 legendary birds are catchable in this game

This means that Kanto appears as a location you can visit in more gens than as a location you can't visit. Gen 1, Gen 2, Gen 3, Gen 4, Gen 7 all feature Kanto in some capacity. Gen 5, 6, and 8 do not include a version of Kanto. (Unless GameFreak throws decides to throw Let's Go Johto into Gen 8)
that in-game trade evolution haunted me for years!!! I was convinced i saw a trade for a machoke in gen 1 as a kid, but could never find it ever again as I was always playing red/blue - finally i've found you ricky!!!

In the future you can save yourself time by using more effective switch training e.g. when you were switch training charmander instead of KOing Pokémon with pigeot you can use Pokémon yet to evolve like oddish
What he's not mentioning is that after he gets 20 pokemon he has to go back to the PC to switch boxes before he can catch more
The Japanese Blue version has an in-game trade involving a Pokemon capable of evolving by evolving.

I’m really thankful for these videos 😮💨 I’m working on a living dex challenge with all the Pokémon being from the generation they’re come from originally. These videos make it so much easier to be able to just see exactly what’s available where I am at in the game so I don’t spend too much time in routes searching for Pokémon I don’t need.
Actually, in the U.S. versions of the games, there were more in-game trades for Pokémon that evolve via trading:
Sun and Moon: Haunter for Alolan Graveler (-> Alolan Golem)
Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon: Phantump for Phantump (-> Trevenant)
You can also get Gigalith in White 2/Black 2, but I don't know if you'll count that because they directly give you Gigalith, not Boldore

Is no one going to mention how badass Pidgeot's sprite is in this game?
Yellow and Crystal definitely have some of the best sprites for sure, though I can't help but be biased toward the animated sprites of Gen 5 since that was the apex of the 2D art style for Pokemon.

The other trade evolution in the games is in Sun and Moon. Someone gives you a alolan graveler that evolves right away to Golem.
He gives you a different trade evolution in USUM I think.
He also takes the piss out of fucking Mindy when you talk to him after trading if I'm not mistaken.

theres an in game trade in gen 4 for a haunter that has an everstone on it. then the NPC laughs at you
I hate that trainer so much. I was all excited to get a Gengar, only to discover that the thing had the everstone. That was a terrible trade.

I think it would be interesting if you did a catch em all series a bit like what jrose started a year or two ago but never complete. like a series of catching them all in ultra sun and ultra moon every episode you catch as many Pokemon as you can before a trial and then over the course of the series you evolve all the Pokemon and by the time you finish the series you will have an almost complete living dex for ultra sun and ultra moon
note (edit): don't do this like a professor oak challenge, do it like you're catching them all during your playthrough
I feel like that would be a fun challenge to do when Pokemon Sword and Shield comes out, thanks for the idea!

Gen I doesn't properly display type effectiveness against dual-type Pokémon, but it does do the proper damage.
So while it said the Fighting moves were super effective against Pidgeotto, they were really doing neutral damage.

In B2W2 you can trade an Emolga for a Gigalith, it's kind of an Easter egg as you need to trade a Boldore for an Emolga in BW with the same person. That and Steelix in Gen 2 and 4 are the only trade evolution Pokémon you can get from In-Game trades

I'm a bit biased about this game cause pikachu is my favorite pokemon and I know kanto has over stayed it's welcome being remade so many time but honestly if they remade yellow with the physical special split held items and double battles I would probably be my favorite pokemon game and no I don't count let's go as yellows remake even though it's the closest I'll ever get

13:55 idk about any other ways in gens 1-4, but theres an ingame trade in SV for a non-mindy haunter (thank god), and gen 5, at least the sequels, have steelix in some of the dust clouds, as well as a postgame trade for alakazam, but thats only for natdex so

I'll be starting it the day the game comes out and hopefully finishing it by end of December/January.
See I had an easy time with Charmander since I trained it north of Cerulean City with loads of Oddish, Bellsprout and Venonat. Until it could easily handle Diglett's Cave of course. As for other in game trade evolutions (I can remember if it was Sun/Moon or UltraSun/UltraMoon but there is an in game trade for Phantump which evolves into Trevenant via evolution.
If I remember correctly there is one other potential trade evolution we can get in game but game freak trolled us and gave it an everstone. I wanna say it's a haunter trade in gen 2 or 3

Well there’s the in game trade haunter in Sinnoh from Mindy but she puts an everstone so that it won’t evolve

In blur japanese version, its an in game trade, u trade a machoke for a haunter and u will get gengar and another that u can trade a kadabra for a graveler u can get golem at the end. I had a feeling there was one in the Japanese version, just wasn't sure about the English version. I remember these being programmed in the English version by accident, since there was a line in Cinnabar saying "The Raichu you traded me went and evolved!" and it should've been one of those trades.

Also, he posted on Professor Oak Subreddit, a post to annunce that his POC on Elmerald was completed.
So, i don't think he will do a gen 4 POC in this month
