- Large Panoramic glass panels are known to 'squeak' and rattle over road bumps. Here's how to make them quiet again

Do not use silicone spray cans. Sprays have other additive which can damage the rubber in the long term. Use ONLY a 100% silicone tube grease from a good brand and double check it does not say petroleum among the ingredients
Have a look at this video about moonroof/panoramic roof safety czcams.com/video/TcA9nn2HpPk/video.html
I will try this very soon! Thank you so much!
Performed this today, made it about 98% better and drivable again
👍👍
Me too! Thanks very much. Mercedes 2018 E 300 Coupe

Did your make noise
Fixed my issue with the panorama roof noise. Thanks a lot!
Perfect
Thank you so much. Mine is driving me nuts. I am going to try today
will try it this weekend , Thanks for the video
Guys read this carefully, If Silicon grease doesn't fix it
then you need to remove the headliner, take ur car to garage/dealership
and do double check on bolts and screws both sides!
loosen screws means = rattles..loud noise
its happened to my car , and now the noise is GONE!
Thank you for the video , I have 2022 ram 1500 limited, and I have same problem with my panaromic roof creaking and squeaking will try this tomorrow and update if it’s fixed
Q7 CREAKING: Thank you for this video as I was trying to fix my Audi Q7's creaking sunroof. This didn't help my issue, but your advice was helpful when I tried to lubricate the seals! My creaking was caused the friction in between the front & rear panel on the panoramic sun roof. There are 8 screws, 4 on each side on the railing underneath the back panel glass (like the screws in your video you showed).
MY FIX: I retracted the front panel w/ the button to relieve pressure between the two panels, then loosened the 8 screws using the star shaped bit, then with my hand I pushed up on the back panel (there is a 1/4" or so the panel can move up and down w/ screw adjustments), retightened the screws, and lowered the front panel back into the closed position. This fixed the annoying creaking. THANK YOU!
CONCEPT: You are creating pressure between two points of contacts (front & rear panel of sun roof). If those contacts are loose and flex, they will rub and create noise. Tightening that contact stops the movement and any creaking.
MY RESEARCH: I looked everywhere for a solution - lubing the rubber seal all around the glass (didn't work), installing felt tape on the plastic clasps on the sun roof railing (didn't try to do this one) & lubed the rubber foot that presses down on the wind screen at the front of the sun roof (didn't work), removing the wind screen (didn't try). This was a $525 bill at Audi, which I didn't proceed with.
Thank you again for posting this. It was crazy to read all the unsolved issues with the sun roof and how many times I read a dealership replaced the sunroof outright.
👍👍
Hi, I’ve got the same issue with my Q8 and the dealer removed the roof lining and checked everything saying nothing is wrong. The creaking noise is driving me mad! Did you have to remove anything to access those areas?
@@sirkhailquraishi507we didn’t have to remove anything. The 8 bolts were exposed on the railing under the glass sunroof. I thought there was something removed by Audi since exposed bolts seemed odd, but they said they didn’t. I can’t confirm if there was a bolt cover across them or not. Bottom line, if you can get to the sunroof screws/bolts, you should be able to loosen, lower the glass, retighten to eliminate that squeaking. The bolt holes are designed to have room to move up and down to be adjusted.
@@kevinrust thank you for your response! Do you have a picture showing where the bolts are located as I can’t seem to find them. I opened the sunroof and saw hinge like bolts (two) on each side and then there’s 4 bolts at the end of the sunroof under the fixed glass
@@sirkhailquraishi507 I can send you over what my Q7 looks like. How can I send a picture to you since YT doesn't support messaging. FB or Instagram?
This has fixed my issue. Thanks a lot!
Car is 2019 Hyundai Sonata Limited 2.4L
Would like to add that this works on any car with panoramic roofs. Will need to reapply after a few months or 1 year - depends on the weather in your area
Nice, thanks
Thank you! My 2019 F250 has been to the dealership 5 times for this issue. Can’t wait to show them this video! 🤦🏻♂️😂😂😂
thank you! I have a 2018 Mercedes C300 coupe making that same noise and it's driving me nuts. Good to hear it's an easy fix.
Did it work ?
Hi Andy! Did it work for you? Thx for the answer :)
Hi did it work. Have a coupe also wanted to check
Hi can I use white lithium grease
On an unrelated note, I'd advise looking into having some kind of "security" film installed on the glass panel to add some extra durability, kind of like a screen protector for your cellphone.
I had either a crow or a bluejay crack my panoramic roof with its beak while trying to open a peanut.
Good idea. I would also suggest watching this about the moonroof safety czcams.com/video/TcA9nn2HpPk/video.html
My sweatshirt was accidentally on the roof when I opened it up it open up all the way it makes no noise but when I close it, it makes noise. Do you think I need to just re-grease it or is it off the track or bent?
I have a Skoda Superb 2021 that have this issue. Dealer put grease on the panoramic window but only on the mechanism, not on the seals/rubber. The sound is still there and driving me nuts. Will have to try this, thank you.
Did you get rid of the noises?? Same for me on a Kodiaq...
@@adrianpatrut_TM yes, seems to work actually. I could only get silicone spray but i drenched a microfiber cloth in it and it seems to have worked. Make sure to remove all dust and dirt from the rubber on the glass before applying. Fingers crossed that this will work for you as well.
@@drauknir777 10x a lot for reply
My noise is coming from the back seat area of the sunroof. Will this also fix the problem?
did it fix it ?
Anyone able to resolve this in a Tesla model S 2014
What car is this?
its an ml350 i think
Is silicone spray from wealthy (brand) safe for this?
NO, all silicone sprays contain solvents and petroleum distillates along the propellent.
I got Toyota Camry XSE 2021. Like a week ago. I have same problem! Brand new car with crake noise ! That’s so annoying!!
Same here man! Same car and year, now my JBL speakers are making a popping noise and I don’t even blast my music :(
Did you fix the issue, 2024 have same issue
Plumber's grease is ideal. Too bad I had to use it on a car with less than 4,000 miles!
Make sure it doesn't have petroleum. If the seal will swell, it's very expensive to replace
Can anyone clarify what he has said? Did he say don't use petroleum lubricant, just use silicone lubricant?
Correct - NO petroleum product (read ingredients list), only pure 100% synthetic silicone lubricant - be aware some silicone lubricants also have petroleum ingredients, do not use those
My noise goes away when cover is opened what could it be?
Which car model and year ?
@@Peppermint1 2023 ford edge sel
I fixed it with lithium grease and WD-40 spray.
Dielectric lithium grease
@@harajly23 my Q7 is doing the same thing only when closed. I’ll give this a try.
Doesn’t work 😢
Can I use wd40 instead
Absolutely not, the petroleum products contained in the WD-40 will crack the rubber after some time and you'll be in much more trouble to replace it.
@@Peppermint1 what can I use then I’m confused. Have any specific product recommendations
You can use the Silicon lube from wd40 but don't use the regular wd40 at all
I have cooking oil😂
Will be good for 2 days 😂
To me it last at least the entire summer season. Perhaps it matters what lubricant you are using - be sure nothing with petroleum - and also matters to apply on each area of the rubber seal - some areas may be hard to reach but must be lubed, a small dry area may be the one causing the rattle
Soooo annnnoying
