These are all the gaming laptops you guys bought in 2023! We can see which models you buy and find out what CPUs and GPus are most popular.
All data was collected late October 2023. I thought it would be useful to share what everyone has been buying and why before the Black Friday holiday sale period, rather than wait until the end of the year for a complete picture.
Our data only accounts for the US market, as that’s where the affiliate programs we are part of are based. The only exception being the small XMG number, who are located in Europe.
The stats are also completely blind to anyone who might have watched one of our videos then bought a laptop in store. Or if the purchase happens more than 24 hours after clicking a link, it does not count to our available data.

Can you do one for Australia since this is where you are based haha
do you recommend a hp victus over asus f15 2050 rtx with same specs ?? which one of them has more power ?
Definitelly Asus has more power than HP but RTX 2050 itself is very weak, i recomend to get at least 4050 laptop or 4060 in the end of 2023 (the sweet spot for gaming and price is 4060)@@Master_trac
Jarrod can you make this kinda video about Creators' Laptops too, about those XPS, Vivobook, Zenbook, Studiobook, Acer Swift and laptops like that please ?
Sadly no can do. It doesn't work for Canadians. Poor Australians and Canadians
How come 4090 laptops only cost 2500ish dollars in the US but if you try to buy them in EU they are 5000 euros?
Just build a gaming PC for much less price. The US will always have the best prices. It's just a fact for electronics there and it's unfortunate. Iam just tired of paying a $300 premium for everything in my country which I could've easily afforded in the US.
Murica that's why!
You gotta love taxes
Scam taxes and extra profit
The EU adds 25% tax to electronics last I checked.
Such is life.
This was an amazing video. Thanks for putting it together!
I don't think I've seen another channel do this! Great information
increadbly detaild. good job on the hard work to both of you! you guys are a great team!
Jarrod's reviews are really a level above everyone else, please keep it up

Hey thanks
@@JarrodsTechreview ROG Flow X16 2023
Aye.
This video is a nice get away from the constant news on Israel vs Palestinian and it genocide 😅
I'm thinking about upgrading my 7 years old laptop with GTX 1050-Ti to the 40 series. On the other hand, I'm happy the 1050-Ti able to run most triple-A games on 1080p... My video is up if anyone is interested.
Loving my Lenovo Slim Pro 9i. If only I could have got it in tidal teal color.
Love factual sale reviews. This is a real laptop "CONSUMER GUIDE".
Thanks Jarrod.
Love these kind of videos! Great great information
Your skill to describe charts and graphs are so good tbh.
Love the data analysis. This is very cool, now I want more folks to buy through your site.
great video at a great timing before this month sales
Amazing vid and great data
Ya'know, i knew you were meticulous but this, this is a step above the rest.
Keep it up Jarrod. It'd be nice to see this again next year
Love the channel, thanks for video!
This is an awesome video, thanks for the inside look!
These are helpful datas for laptop buyers! Thanks Jarrod!
Yes, these videos are very insightful. Seeing this beautiful human being gently handling these laptops and showering them with heavenly words of affirmation pleases my soul.
Thanks bro, and glad to know that some can be shipped here in the Philippines. I can also easily browse some gaming laptops and their prizes by checking the site, tnx a lot... keep up the good work :).
4060 laptops were a pretty epic deal. I remember the last time I shopped for a laptop it was about the cdrom drive and the external battery brick. lol.
I bought one for £990 then upgraded the ram to 32gb ddr5 and wd black 2tb ssd.
Now this machine is just too good!
There are some good deals atm
Agreed it's a brilliant GPU if you take Dlss into account as it elevates to around 3070ti, and 8gb cram is fine if you're up-resing from 1080p.
Would you suggest going for a 2021 Legion 5 Pro with a ryzen 7 5800H and an RTX 3070? I fear it's outdated for 2024 standards. @@JarrodsTech
This research is so useful thank you!!
Glad it was helpful!
@jarrod’stech just want to say I have been loving your videos and you / your team have been instrumental in helping me find the right laptop for me to replace my 8 year old machine. Massive thank you! Keep up the great work
ROG Ally has done remarkably well in terms of sales. Makes me wonder how much this will change as more handhelds become more common on the market. I expect to see a bunch announced and shown off at CES next year in January
We just got the Legion Go!
Your videos are top notch. Bet atleast one manufacturer will take notice of all this market research
Thk Jarrod, I bought a Asus TUF A15 2023 last mounth with your videos, they are insanely helpful to make the best choise
I went for the Legion 7i pro 4080, and I'm extremely happy. It's an absolute beast! Thanks for you and your partners continued hard work.
is it 100% DciP3 or 100% sRgb.
That's the only reason I'm thinking to go for Asus strix scar
@@reus_xe mostly just the most expensive have the great color screens. Although all of the legion pros have great displays. I dropped down to the RTX 4070 for around 1300$. The next step up was huge I couldn't justify the expense for a minor performance gain.
@@JOutterbridge should i opt for 4080 or will 4070 fill my boot??i gotta use a laptop for 4-5 years easily. I'll do some 4k video editing and play Games in 1440p.
@@reus_xe 4080 for video editing just in case. Games will run great in high definition on a 4070 for the most part. Just beware the strix screen resolution and fan noise. Also battery life:/ But great performance for the price
Gaming laptops have gotten so good over the years. Not only can I get a 17.3 inch screen on a laptop that can fit in my backpack, but the screen is high frame rate and ips, with a graphics card that's capable of pushing those frame rates.
I got a great deal on the ASUS TUF F15 thanks to your website, and decided on it thanks to your review. Upgraded from a 1660Ti to a 4070, thanks a lot for your hard work man.
is it the i7 12700? if yes are you happy with it?
yo man can you let us know if the TUF F15 is worth it? I want to buy it soon
@@potatoguy0593 It is awesome, highly recommend it. I got it for like $950 on sale at Best Buy, so wait for a good sale and snag it!
@@diakokhalandi1115 That's the one! Yes, I'm super happy with it. I use it for BIM modeling with Revit and 1440 gaming without any issues.
Watching this while stroking my 7i Pro 4080. Even scuffing the metal lid on the day of arrival hasn't stopped me loving it.
I opted for a different option. I got the Corsair laptop. It has some windows issues, but its performance is off the charts for the sale price I bought it at.
I like seeing you cover budget laptops. Just because most people don't...
I'm curious about what number of units those graphs are about, but this proves like in other areas of life, people ask for budget all the time, but when the time comes, they will buy visibly more expensive or high end.
Bought a legion 5 pro 2022 model in January 2023 and haven’t looked back, every game works like a charm and it’s more than enough for me!
My 3060 5800h legion still serves me damn well, I actually got it thanks to this channel so thanks my man

would you suggest going for a 2021 model in 2024?
I'm looking at a Legion 5 Pro with ryzen 7 5800H and a 3070. But I feel like it's old for today's standards.
This is the video I waited all year for, let's go!!! Love me some bar and pie graphs!! I already knew the two manufacturers for the biggest piece of that pie. Ok now I can't wait for some pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving . 😂
Wow, what an analysis. Those graphs are just insane. Great work.
Much appreciated!

Got a lenovo ideapad gaming 16” in Norway for about $700 on sale
RTX 3050ti

Very satisfied with it as a travel laptop considering i have a 4070 Desktop at home.
I'm a fellow 3050Ti laptop owner, just a shams Nvidia gimped it with 4GB VRAM, then trolled owners by refreshing it with 6GB this year
i have the same config but with 12700H, it's my main rig.
You should have worn a mask while paying because that was a STEAL! 😳
I find it interesting how informed shoppers of gaming computers (including laptops of course) are as compared to other segments of the market. For example, if you're waiting in line at an Apple store, you'll often hear people saying they will buy the 'new bigger phone' or the 'smaller laptop.' I would say maybe 25 percent of them actually understand differences other than size, which is just crazy considering how much people are spending. My point is, I feel like someone buying a gaming laptop understands all the components, upgradeability, power limits, battery life, refresh rate, color gamut, color accuracy --- and they often shop around for the best deal, particularly considering they are usually a younger market segment. And of course, the real, real smart ones, we all watch JT :)
No joke, it's actually crazy how uncommon it is for people to simply look up review videos of products they're interested in. They don't realize that someone with a CZcams channel has already bought one, and aggregated more information on it than they could ever hope to learn with their own independent research. Idk how many times someone has asked me for help looking for "the best _ " for their price range, only for me to find a 10 minute long CZcams video, and just recommend the thing that video said was the best (because it usually is!).
@@ronchum5178 I always check multiple reviews on youtube before I chose an electronic product or gadget. I want to know everything about it, pros, cons and price deals. That enables you to make a better decision for buying gadgets. I always loved Dell products and I wanted to upgrade from my Lattitude 7490. I would have loved to buy the XPS 15 series but they cost a lot in the UK. I then checked out the G-series laptops as they had more budget value but they were very bulky, had massive charges and poor battery life so I ended up choosing the Legion 5 series because of budget value for money, design (The Legion design is sleek and not too flashy), durability, upgradability(even though I may never unscrew my laptop 😂) and battery life. The Legion series are so much better than a lot gaming laptops for similar prices.
This is so true 👏🏻
us gamers generally know a lot more tech than the average apple customer.

I bought a Asus zephyrus g14 2022 and absolutely love it. Its soo portable and great at gaming too
The main reddit for gaming laptops and the discussions people have there are quite consistent with the data shown here. I feel like word of mouth (or rather online opinions) seem to be a huge factor leading to these figures.
Yeah I always go to reddit for opinions before purchasing
What do you think about getting the strix g18, I like 17=18 inch and need something powerful but low price. but there's a few bad reviews saying same complaints like coil wine and bad screen...
Hi Jarrod, I need your advice on a laptop with a budget of around $2600~$3000. My usage includes occasional gaming, heavy Photoshop design work, and intensive multitasking while browsing.
My current laptop is the Asus VivoBook Pro 16X OLED with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti and 32 GB RAM. I'm looking for something a bit better, with a good display, an i9 processor, and 32 GB RAM. Any recommendations?

What is the legion 570i? I just bought one used with a RTX 3070 inside for $950.
I bought a Legion Pro 7i this year and it's an amazing gaming beast best laptop of 2023 quality/price 👌🏻
Buying a Legion Slim 7i Gen 8 today!
I was looking at laptops for college and spent months looking through videos for comparisons and trying to find out which one would be best. I was about to pull the trigger on a maxed out Legion 7 3080ti but then decided to look at more videos on it. Thanks to Jarrod, I picked up the maxed out AMD version instead, as I'm getting 7-8 hours of battery life and around 100 fps at 1440p for most games at high settings. I don't need 4k or super high frame rates, just a battery long enough for school days and enough gpu juice to make games look good and play decently well, not just now but till after school too. Just want to say thanks Jarrod for your comparisons and informational videos, they have been a great help, and thanks to your partner too, what would we do without the graphs :)
if i may ask, which laptop did u buy?
@@noname-we4ri The maxed out Lenovo AMD version
Don’t let this guy fool you. The most popular brand in the EU and US is HP. Lenovo is a Chinese brand that has to answer to the Chinese government. In the west we have to stay United and support western brands. Apple and HP >

Wow, this blows my mind! Indeed I bought 2022 model of Lenovo Legion 5 in 2023. Really I consider the 2023 model a downgrade due to less USB ports and marginal performance upgrade. I do get the weak speaker but it ain't my concern as I have my own desktop speaker more powerful than any laptop speakers.
Thanks to your videos, I went with the Asus M16. It's a great laptop for students, and it has one of the lightest power-to-performance ratios in its class.
I've been watching your reviews for quite a while now, and try not to buy a laptop until i've seen one of your reviews. I'd really love a review of the msi katana 15/17, if it's not too inconvenient. I'm getting it at a great deal, and am torn between that and the nitro 5. Cheers!
Very comprehensive stat breakdown.
Going for lenovos 14inch option 4060. Its just perfect. And on sale for a decent price
Kudos for the sick T-Shirt & the awesome content!
Thanks!
The US usually has cheaper prices on laptops when comparing to other countries specially developing countries. So on average the us market does not go for lower end models like the 2050s 3050s or 4050s. But there is a huge demand for them in other countries as everything is more expensive so higher end models are very difficult to obtain. Which is why there is a huge variation in what the comments are asking and what the statistics imply.
As an european 3050 (2021 5600H) laptop buyer, I agree.
TUF A16 owner here, lovely laptop.
I love the keyboard and the screen.
I have the higher spec model with the 7700S instead of the 7600S
It's honestly a great laptop and I strongly recommend it.

I just got a 2022 Asus G14 with 6800hs/RX 6800s. With the right tweaks it's a joy to use, and I don't regret.
I wanted an RTX 4060 Asus Zephyrus G16, but could only find FHD options with a measly 350 nits brightness. Next option was the 2023 G14 with a 4050 or 4060 but I couldn't find the white version, only grey. And it cost almost 50% more than the 2022 model which wasn't worth it to me.
I bought today a Asus Zenbook Flip with AMD ryzen 9 H and AMD Radeon, what U say about IT ?
Is it still worth it to buy a laptop with a ryzen 7 6800hs and rtx 3060 for a 1000 bucks? I need a new laptop but eu just doesn't get deals as it stands now
Shoutout to your partner, great work.

Hey, do you think Asus would make 2024 version G15? I really fell in love with the laptop, but it was released in Jan 2022. I think it would be too old for me to buy it in mid 2024.

Would be cool to see a "Top 5" budget laptops of all time. Though, the newer ones typically preform better in some way
I think it would be very difficult because there isnt a good way to measure how good a laptop is "for its time" and then measure how better that laptop did back then than compared to how a modern laptop does today 😂
I think Acer Nitro 5 would be up there, I see one of those in my uni library regularly (with different people)
Also the Asus Tuf Laptops.
Then the Rog Strix (non scar) and Older Legions.
(The rest of them use normal thin and lights)
I did top 3 for this year last week, not sure if going back further is very relevant unless it’s just for fun

Just wanted to express my gratitude! I recently snagged the Lenovo Legion 5i Pro, rocking the specs (4060 and i7-13700H) after tuning into your Lenovo reviews. Budget didn't quite stretch for the 4070 or 4080, but I'm thrilled with my pick, all thanks to your guidance!

I bought my gaming laptop back in 2021, and back then I bought the Legion 5 from the 2020 model, due to several reasons, but mainly regarding budget. Living in third world country where most of the general users still consider it fine using a 200-300 USD laptops with the most bare specs, the Legion 5 with Ryzen 5 5600H and GTX 1650 Ti at equivalent of ~1000 USD seems like a luxury, even for me, even when the primary reasoning is for working with engineering simulation software I use in my college. However I could provide some of the reasonings behind my choice, and the benefit I only realize later on. First, I bought the laptop just as the Nvidia craze of the 30 series, and they were priced at ~1500 USD minimum in my country, without significant bump in performance, would just better of with perhaps 1200-1300 USD prized ryzen 7 lineup of legion rather than 1500 USD for a measly 3050. Next, is the layout of the laptop gut. The reason I prefer Legion in the end is they're one of the few in the same price range to provide space for internal HDD, while most only provide space for m.2 NVME storage expansion, again budget options. While acer nitro and Asus Tuf provide nearly the same for my needs, at nearly same price point, in the end I choose Legion, and after two year using it, finnally end up with my most hotrod solution: fitting 3 internal storage solution inside the laptop (which officially only allows for 2). Other than the initial 512Gb of M.2 NVME given, I ended up providing another decased SATA ssd, and topped of with another M.2 in the other slot, giving me 3 SSD slot for the internal. And lastly, why I choose lenovo, well, let's just say that, their customer service is the best I've ever feel. My laptop only had two year warranty, and it ended back at June. However, the GPU had problems in March earlier this year which ultimately ended up with the laptop unable to even go into BIOS. I called the service center for Lenovo, and only need to tell about my laptop model and the product number, confirming that my laptop is still under warranty, and start to do the troubleshooting on the phone. After the technicians finnally deemed that it's the motherboard that is the problem, I was told to wait for several days as they ordered a new motherboard to replace the faulty ones in my laptop, completely free of charge, and even have the option to send their own technicians into my own home to replace it directly. Sadly since the technicians needs another week after the part arrive to have an empty time to go to my place, I ended up just going into the service center, and voila it just took 1-2 hour for them to replace it, and I was never happier than that
3050ti is a juggernaut of a laptop GPU and will play any game at 1080p even The Last of Us Remake which recommend 8gigs VRAM but the 5600H & RTX 3050ti played it at 45-60 FPS like a champ without DLSS and high settings. With DLSS even better.
Asus and Acer had solid budget gaming laptops. Lenovo gain more share on High End product. If lenovo lower down the price for LOQ series, its could be gain some market
That thumbnail smile has a hint of everything lol
It makes sense that the majority are buying last year's models in order to save some money, perhaps even buying them during sale events.
In March 2022, I bought my Razer Blade Pro 17 (2020 model) for AU$1729 (~US$1100 at the current exchange rate), which was a ~60% discount.
It's an incredible laptop with a ridiculous 300Hz screen! Build quality is excellent and the laptop is thin and light for a 17in laptop. Love it. 😄

Got a lenovo ideapad gaming 3 with 12450H, 3060 and 1600p, 165hz 500nits screen, 1tb ssd and all that for 800€ a few months ago. It is amazing value, especially as I mostly use my desktop pc, but needed somethign for basic work, casual gaming during travel and a good screen. (and something my gf can play on at my place xD)
