  • Here we are. Yet another character from Rise of the Guardians/The Guardians of Childhood that could have been so much more if they were given the chance. A character that could have had spinoffs and prequels, but whose franchise now languishes in the land of cancellation. Here is the wasted potential of the Easter Bunny's backstory. Enjoy!

    Dreamworks could work with Netflix to do a show or sequel movie of the Guardians. They could even expand the universe in their own ways.

      @@sarahsims6164 Yeah but only with with good writters. If they're gonna hire writters of the first Netflix Witcher series then it'll be a failure.

    I think the series, even the film, has great potential. The issue, as you mentioned in another video, was the competition at the box office was fierce. I would love to see The Guardians become a Marvel-style cinematic universe or series. Allowing for more exploration of the characters' backstories, delving deeper into the lore of the universe and the like.

      I believe that we will get something from ROTG. There’s so many reboots coming out since last year, as well as so many devoted Rise of the Guardians fans who have been begging for a sequel. It will happen in time!

  • @nationalinstituteofcheese3012

    The reason he’s changed so much is because his cloak was hindering his movements and his robotic eggs and stuck up old man personality wasn’t fitting the whole whimsical and lively spirits dynamic they wanted so they redid his character and made him Australian as his voice actor (Hugh Jackman) is Australian and they thought it’d be funny to make him an Australian ranger sort of character.

    A big part of this film's box office downfall was the release date and Hollywood's old terrible strategy of releasing multiple big franchises a month and back to back in the early/mid 2000s. Snuffing out the chance of newer franchises/films finding an audience.

    It was the consumption of chocolate that made him the way he is in the movie. And for all we know, all pookas have an Australian accent. considering that he made Australia, he could be the father of the Aussie accent. I've read all the books at least 5 times in my life. You did a very good job with all of your research for all of your ROTG/GOC videos. If you'd like to talk about the books and film, DM us on our insta.

    Not only is the seasonal aspect of his character weird, so is the whole idea of having this ancient bunny be Austrailan. Rabbits are not native to Australia, in fact they are considered invasive vermin. If they were going to make him Australian, why not make him into a bilby or a wallaby or some other Australian animal that may have been mistaken for a rabbit in the past by mistake then continued to persist as the "Easter Bunny" for years because the myth stuck and is still fitting based on his name of Bunnymund.

    I've only ever heard of Pooka in one other instance: An Atlus game called Odin Sphere. In it, the Pooka are a mythical race, on the same level as the Valkyrie. The game features six different interwoven storylines all taking part betwixt each other with different overlapping narratives all coalescing into one grand tale. The Pooka Prince is one of those character arcs, and he's portrayed as a kind and mysterious being, sheltered from the troubles of the greater weave, until he is inevitably dragged into it by a friend and his own inquisitive nature.

    I think Bunny could’ve started out as an eccentric Willy Wonka type character in his backstory and the massacre of his species and eventual joining up with the guardians could’ve driven him to become the version of him that we see in the movie, and he could he embarrassed by how he used to be which is why when North mentioned it, Bunny says “I told you never to mention that!😡”

  • @leaflet1686
    @leaflet1686 Před 2 lety +6

    Listening to this a mash up would be nice, where we see Bunny making chocolate in his warren and gifting them to the other guardians. Maybe having a huge off limit hall somewhere hidden with a ton of clocks floating and his staff on display in the middle. But I like the new version a bit more than a I don't care about people and am all smart and silent. The smart and silent type is boring and I am glad this movie doesn't really have that, everyone is equally bad ass and you can just choose who you like best. Also a cloak would be verry hindering... Maybe we could see it as a formal wear, when North invites all to a christmas party!

    We enjoy this film as a family but it fails simply because it started at the wrong point. Imagine if we’d met the guardians and seen them come together to stop pitch on just barely each time in 2 or 3 films first, following thier movie back stories instead and then the rise film ending it with Pitch’s ultimate defeat with the help of Jack. We know next to nothing about how each guardian was chosen or came to exist other than Jack and that does detract quite a bit from the overall film

    • @LeegolasandEl
      @LeegolasandEl Před rokem +1

      I 100% agree!! By starting with the Guardians coming together, it gives more time to flesh out their character. Imagine if we got little glimpses of Bunny's origin and then finally see it in the second film or something like that!

    You could spend plenty of time exploring any character's potential backstory - but that would just end up distracting from the main story. The movie's already 100 minutes, and that's long for an animated movie. There's a reason you have to leave stuff out.

    • @LeegolasandEl
      @LeegolasandEl Před rokem

      Dreakworks could do something where Bunnymund is the center of the story. It could be sort of like Guardians of the Galaxy 3. (not that I want them to copy it) Rocket was the focus of the story, he was vital to defeating the villain. It could be something along the lines of that.

    Yes I am sure releasing 'Rise of the Guardians' at about the same time as some established big names pretty much did for it sadly. And in some parts of the world, like the UK there was very little promotion and most people never heard about it until ages later when it was streamed. Such a shame, and to think we are all real, too!

Book Bunny was a thousand times better and I like to think movie Bunny is just book Bunny on a constant low dose of chocolate
