On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8. - Hry

Underrated comment
An F-16, a Rafale, and a Mirage 2000 have shot down the F-22 in training. Over hyped aircraft constantly up against fighters that are not 5 generation.
@@isaan01 fair point
@@isaan01 Except if an F-22 pilot and a pilot of any of those three planes you mentioned were both equally skilled to the point where the only deciding factor is the performance and capability of their plane, then the F-22 is going to win against any of those other three every time (assuming that the F-22 pilot does not make a severe enough mistake that their plane's performance can't save them).
I remember hearing about an f22 pilot at red flag against f15s that said “my concern wasn’t getting shot down, it was running out of missiles”
Lol that’s so Awesome
"Oh no, I'm an Ace now, gotta RTB for more missiles"
@mandellorian Ive definitely seen plenty of comments that the eurofighter and rafale have the chops to compete in BFM with the f22. ive yet to see reports on their effectiveness in a large exercise like red flag vs stealthy platforms in bvr combat, just quotes on k:d for the stealth platforms. not saying they dont exist, but i havent seen it.
@mandellorian They were doing fights WVR, in BVR it was all F22. In red flag versus others, we regularly go in with older tech.
@mandellorian bro in the red flag exercise the f-22 was able to shot down 6 Rafale's, and when the french was able to shot down 1 F-22 it's because the F-22 was doing a dogfight, remember the F-22 wasn't build to fight in dogfights, he was built to shot down the target before the enemy knows he was there. so in a real fight scenario the Rafale doesn't have a chance.

@@MrLependu i just like the f-22… i agree a spitfire 1 on 1 takes more skill but the raptor is just fun to watch
Watching the Eagles fall was gut wrenching... I think it was the clinical ease that led to them dying; no merge, no WEZ-jamming, no opportunity to be the amazing aircraft we've all known them to be. When the heroes of your youth and, truthfully, of your elder years, get led to slaughter with little protest. It's so much different when they have a chance to fight back, the thing about dying on your feet and not your knees comes to mind. The Raptor is aptly named, this was a graphic demonstration of its abilities.
Magnificent words on the F-15 Eagle tombstone.
Hunting time is gone now is time to rest after more then 40 years of dominance ❤
"You can't shoot what you can't see".
Still valid.
Of course you can, you're just not going to hit much.
Very nice. I still can't imagine a real life scenario, considering every pilot has a wingman. So two F-22's is just jaw dropping in the amount of combat superiority. I'd love to see 2 Raptors intercept either a large air convoy or 2 patrol teams of 6 or 7. Migs or F15s will likely suffer the same fate either way but an amazing idea in my opinion to try.
It's quite sad the F-22 was cut so early and was never really given a chance to mature. A F-22B with upgraded avionics, an improved/more durable coating, helmet mounted display, and smaller/shorter range missiles to increase missile capacity would have really been something. The F-22 really kind of got the Tomcat treatment if you think about it.
yup both got discontinued bc of cost problems

they still fly them though afaik which is good
Luckily they're being upgraded rn. they're gonna have a helmet mounted display aswell as improved data link

F-35 kinda overtakes the F-22 though
@@leadleghighkick104 Completely different mission set. While there is some amount of overlap in most airborne offensive platforms, in no way is it reasonable to suggest the f-35 would take over the f-22's core directives.

Pilot: Hey, thats an F-22. He's on our side. Isnt he? WTF!
The new F-15 EX has definitely have great upgrades and newer tech retrofitted, but F-22 pilots have described the ease by which they dispatch 4th and even some 5th gen fighters as “clubbing baby seals”
I met one of the original flight instructors of the f-15, he told me when the f-22 came out it outperformed the f-15 100-1 in simulated wargames. the f-15 couldnt touch it.

Great video! Sharing this with my dad. We went to 60th anniversary Air Force air show at Nellis and met an Aggressor pilot who said the same... that they go up 8x F-15 v 2x F-22 and it isn't even a contest 😵
Seems like this is one of those scenarios where after either downing 4 of a 7 flight or 6/7 and being out of AMRAAMS, the F-22 would simply leave. Of course that's not as fun for these purposes.
Man I love these kinda fights! You know a F22 paired with F15's would be a dream team though! One for sight and one for a tank of missiles!
Awesome video GS as always!!!!
I think that's pretty much airforce doctrine? Send in stealth to neutralize AA and then send in the missle trucks.
That's the plan, and why the F-15EX exists, lol.
That's the precise reason why the Eagle IIs were created. Raptors are air superiority machines - they secure the air space.
The Eagle IIs are missile arsenals - they ravage the battlefield.
Would be nice if we do silent eagles. Front cross section is as stealthy as an F35.

It's crazy to think the f15 has been around 40plus years without a loss.
Not really that crazy. There is literally no competition. All american pilots are extremely trained and planes are always kept under the best service and always upgraded and all that makes extremely big difference. In other poor countries the flight hours of pilots are REALLY low. Its mostly theory training and that is not enough against most trained crews. Not to mention that everytime USA was attacking someone they had support of AVAX, satelites and other equipment that improve capabilities by a big margin. Other countries that were attacked by USA don't have that, like not even close to it so its not really surprising. Its basically the same as when Nazi Germany attacked Poland in WW2. The difference in military is huge. Now if other countries had same military budget and training, it would be actually interesting to see.

The military did this several years ago. It was five F-15s against one F-22. The F-22 killed them all before the F-15s could even pick it up on radar.
awsome! would be fun to see a F-22 vs F-22 fight, make it all about tactics and the best pilot out there
Awesome! So cool to see that bird in action.
What would happen if upon initial engagement, you did not desend into contrail airspace but flew 90° of the group? If they couldn't see you on radar wouldn't that set you up for a better 2 missile salvo and positioning for last F15? Curious as to why you defend when they can't see you?
exactly there was no point to even defend or even crank in this case
Why to defend? Guess he got used to it 😅
By flying 90 degrees off the group he would no longer be able to illuminate the targets with radar, and thereby much reducing the probability of hitting with his missiles.
Instead of cranking and reducing altitude, stealth might enable him to continue on high. As for not defending at all, flying straight ahead would probably have put him within visual range of the eagles which would not be desirable even if the initial four missiles hit. Even irl outside of the known dcs engagement and detection ranges, I would assume that reducing the closure rate after launching upon hostiles would be a very desirable procedure even with stealth aircraft, as stealth afford superior standoff capabilities which would be reduced by closing in.
Why defined at all after the 4 missile initial salvo? they didn't spot him on launch and were defending? would have been a quicker more merciful end for them vs. making them stress for an additional few minutes. Why the cruelty?
agree. i'd like to see this exact scenario, but keep pushing forward after the intial salvo, stay high and fast presenting your lowest RCS profile, keep the bandits busy with slammers, keep pushing launch your last 2 fox3s, keep pushing until you're in fox2 range and finish off #7 in less time. RTB in time for a latte.

There is no question that the Pilot has a ton of influence on who will and won't survive any air2air action ... "IF" the hardware is somewhat on a level field.
This Sim just illustrated just how much tech/hardware can influence that field. The Eagle dominated for decades batting 1.000 ...give the other side a bit of time and resource and the field can level quickly. My point being ... don't give sides B, C & D the time and opportunity to level!!!

So, do you think that your odds of survival would've dropped drastically had there been just one more eagle? (assuming it was flown by an experienced pilot, of course)
No, an F22 with just its machine gun annihilates the F15E due to its absurd flight model.
Honestly if it wasn’t for the circumstance that lead him to missing that shot it would have been just as easy. Honestly, if he timed all his shots well, he could kill 9 F15Es without much trouble. The 22 in DCS is really that good.

Basic Question: IF "notching" is so effective, how did these AMRAAMS have such a high probability of kills??
In 1980's notching wasn't very effective Vs F-15C it wouldn't be vs 2000's F-22.
Pretty hard to notch an AMRAAM from what I know
Distance has a big part in the probability of kill… lower the distance, the bigger the signature of the aircraft that the missiles radar sees, essentially impossible to trick an AMRAAM to follow chaff, the Russian missiles are much more prone to chaff/jamming, unless they are the electro optical missiles.
To notch a missile, you need to know the the line the missile is on from the shooter to the shoote. If you can't see where the shot came from, you can't notch it.
Amraams are very difficult to notch especially if you’re really high and the PK was high because they missiles were fired at like 40k+ at Mach 1.2+ from like 27miles. That almost 100% guarantees a hit.
I worked F-15's off and on for 24 yrs starting in the late 70's. My last Fighter was the F-22 before I retired. BUT I loved the 15! (Also got to fly in one for an incentive ride back around 1982)
Now you gotta do it up close. Guns only lmao. Love your stuff
While the F22 is "invisible" to them, watching other videos they easily break the lock of AIM120 shots. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen anyone go 6 for 6 with 120 shots. Why are 120 shots from the F22 different?
F-22 has a very capable radar, he's lobbing them from very high and fast. Makes them very dangerous.
@@y2kcobrar also if you know where it’s coming from you have a plan in mind of how to evade.
If it’s out of nowhere OODA takes a bit longer.
@@y2kcobrar You can have an amazing radar (F15EX should be on-par), but the AIM120s have a max range that is far below what the plane can see with radar. They are only medium range missiles.
I think @Justanotherconsumer has the right idea. The F22 can get closer without getting detected and fire AIM120s from well within a range that will be impossible to dodge. The closer, higher, and faster a missile is, the more energy the defender has to defeat. In this scenario, it was impossible to survive.
@@281cu6 dont forget that the higherand faster the missile is launched the more range it will have.
hes extremely high fast and that makes those missiles have extended range and puts them inside the mar and being hard to detect you dont know where the missile is fired when it was fire and the actual Mar so youll push in while they are Tws locked not knowing you are already dead. its basically hard to defend from something that you dont know when to defend from it
It's kinda a shame the f22 won't see any air to air combat, I don't think there's a fighter any pilot wouldn't feel safer in
You better hope it won’t
Lol, I hope there wont be any conflict big enough requireing the F-22

I always enjoy your content!
"Mobius 1, engage!"
Well, according to the USAF during training one single F22 shot down 4 F15C, so this is not surprising at all. I don’t know capable the other so called “gen 5” are but the F22 is one scary jet, and to think the F23 was more in deadly in BVR engagement.

Plus I think it'll be a challenging and entertaining fight! One worthy of GS skills
My F-22 Raptor VS Nine North Korean MIG-29's BVR request is another one I get a lot of comments about how The F-22 doesn't have nine missiles lol I'm well aware! GS will have to get creative on the last kill possibly last couple of kills ;)
@3:12 there is an epic shot for wallpaper F-22 4x AMRAAM
the distant boom sound effect is amazing so addictive
If this a an accurate representation of the Raptor, I don't know how anyone could realistically have a single chance in Hell of beating the thing. SU57 and J20 be damned. Not gonna happen.
BTW, if I had been that Eagle driver, I would have sent at least 5 AMRAAMS after the F22.
(how many were on the Eagles?)
Yeah, but AMRAAMs need radar lock... The F-15s need to be really close to the Raptor if they want to lock it and even then, AMRAAM is for medium range... You can't really use them effectively against the F-22...
It looks like 12 amraams on each eagle from the shot at 4:28
"It wasn't even that hard." Okay, so based on this simulation and this anecdotal experience you've had vs. multiples, could you elaborate a similar simulation vs SU-27s, F-16s and Mig-29s? Similar or worse for each? My estimate would be 9x SU-27s, 11x F-16s and 357x Mig-29s. Sound about right? 😝
These matchups are hard to properly gauge, as the particulars of radar performance and RCS profiles are some of the most closely guarded secrets of these airframes. For what it's worth, in a BVR fight the EX has a vastly superior radar suite than anything else you mentioned. It would only get worse for everyone else.
Within DCS, results would most likely extremely similar, albeit that the inclusion of data link for the Viper and flankers might give them a slightly better chance due to the increase in situational awareness - though all that is for naught if you're being shit out of the sky before ever detecting the raptor on radar first.
Not to mention that after they FENCE-in, Eagles like to form up in an "Eagle Wall"
