Here is the link the original video I reacted to:
• Joe Satriani - Surfing...
I do not own the rights to this song. No copyright infringement was intended in my reaction video. - Hudba
This performance is from the Joe Satriani Live DVD. It one of the best DVds that I own. Buy it. Saw him 6 times.
My favorite performances from this DVD are Satche's Boogie and Made of Tears. Named my dog Satch!!
Chickenfoot lead singer is Sammy Hagar who started Montrose in 1973 when I was 16. Another great guitarist Ronnie Montrose who later formed a band called Gamma. All great stuff. You need to see these videos.
Joe plays a song he wrote called Crushing Day. You can find it on youtube. The camera gets right in on his hands. You will be blown away. Make sure you watch it!!!! He is at his best.
WHOA! Live version better than studio!
Satriani has performances known as G3. Two other guitarists join him on stage. Saw 2 of them. Dvds are available. Most notable is John Petrucci. great!!!!! He His band is Dream Theater. All great musicians in his band. Look for those performances on youtube. Oh, also Yngwie Malsteen. Extreme speed.
I always had the idea that this should’ve been in the Fantastic Four movie with the Silver Surfer ☁️🏄♀️
I happen to have a soft spot for Satch since his music was the backdrop for my high school days. I think he's at the top (or so) of that list @bobschenkel7921 noted but it all comes down to situation and taste. To me, it's like saying there are opera singers other than Pavarotti. The list will always be incomplete.
But as far as Satch - Try "Flying in a Blue Dream" - A lot more melodic and more "feel" czcams.com/video/zDfy67my2So/video.html
Chickenfoot - Just do their cover of "Highway Star" by Deep Purple. That'll cover it. czcams.com/video/GQVTtpE9J7s/video.html
New guitarists - Try
Guthrie Govan czcams.com/video/aA8fzsE7tWU/video.html
Tommy Emmanuel czcams.com/video/S33tWZqXhnk/video.html
Joe taught Steve Vai, Kirk Hammett, Alex Skolnick and many more.
Mr. Satriani is a rock solid guitar player, he knows all the tricks, and can play all the distorted notes that are required. But he never shows or plays me anything I haven't seen or heard before. I know there are only eight notes, etc. but it has all been done.. Jimi H., Stevie R.V., Jerry G., Eric C., Carlos S., Eddie VH., Frank M., Robin T., Jimmy P., Billy G., Ritchie B., Robbie K., Jorma K., Jeff B., Neil Y., Trey A., Pete T., Mick T., Roy B., Lowell G., Brad W., Joe P.., Warren H., Derek T., Steve V., Frank Z., Muddy W., Howlin' W. Leadbelly, Robert J., etc. The list is long, distinguished and incomplete.. And here is Joe S. at the end. Thanks Brandon, Joe S. is really, really good, but... there are others.
Never really liked his style of playing to be honest. Surfing With The Alien is the only album of his that I have.
I know that I have said this before in other comments, there are guitarists, such as Joe Satriani, Stevie Viai, Yngwie Malmsteen etc who whilst being technically very proficient somehow lack something, feeling, soul? Not easy to pinpoint it.
Yes I know that there are the odd tunes here and there, but I'm talking overall here. Once again, it's all down to personal taste and opinion.
Finally, I can't listen to these guys without thinking of the PlayStation for some strange reason! 😂
Cheers to all.
