I would prefer the Girls of the Year be out only one year-from January 1 to December 31, not December 31 to December 31 two years down the line.
However if AG is going to keep them around longer, I wish they would rerelease earlier Girls of the Year for limited time. Like having Lanie and some of her clothes or collection available on Earth Day.
it was a benefit for me, because i really wanted corinne, but didn’t have the chance to get her in 2022.
I know I wish American Girl would just stick with that and I did not like the Girl of the Year for a long time because they wouldn't go when they're year ended
Kailey was my first doll, Lindsey was my dream doll and Joss what I wanted my frist doll to be having disability myself it's cool that they did that. American Girl needs to make more doll's like Joss. They should have released Josie with makenna in 2012. We should as AG to make dolls with disabilities and chronic illnesses.
Yes! They have things you can buy, or add on to make your doll disabled, but for actual characters, correct me if I’m wrong, there are like, four! And one isn’t even a doll you can buy! We. Need. More. Representation!

Great video, my favorite GOTY is Joss and Kanani! I think it you should make a video comparing basic items from AG and OG. For example you could compare the Ag kitchen to the OG kitchen, the AG beds to the OG beds.
I don’t own much furniture so owning items is much easier to compare them just photos

This is a cute idea! You should definitely do this with other lines! I like but also dislike Isabelle. I dislike her in the sense that she is stereotypical and a little boring, but I also like her because she makes me nostalgic because she introduced me to AG and her classic mold look is what made me love AG so much :)
Isabelle was the first GOTY I saw in person, so she is very nostalgic to me. I plan to do this with historical dolls in the future

I bought a Kailey with damaged skin color. The lady at AG with whom I spoke said it was a dye used in whatever factory Kailey came in. AG, for no cost to me, completely replaced all the limbs and the head. I think she was the first doll to have streaked hair.
Defiantly Lea is super nostalgic as she was the doll out as GOTY when I first got into American Girl. I got into AG right in November 2016 when my grandma gave me my first doll, Molly. For Christmas, I begged for Lea and my parents were like “can’t we get it for you for your birthday?” And I was all sassy like, “no!!! She’ll be gone by then!” Lol I have a lot of memories looking at the holiday catalogs featuring Lea and her hut. I got Lea and her dvd for Christmas from my grandma. I was so excited to have a friend for Molly
I personally love Luciana's meet dress and own a version of it. But I respect that you don't. To each thier own, that's why so many different dolls and outfits exist.

Luciana was my first AG doll ever and her hair does tangle easily and she definitely needs good care and now that I look back her outfit was not good
It tangles? It's straight... just brush it from the bottom to the top and you should be good
I never knew about the yellowing defect in Kailey
I don't see Kailey too often on AGTube, so that may be why hearing about the defect isn't as common

I can name something I'd change about Marisol: I wish she had a ballet folklorico costume.
My friend had Mia and I had Emily and they look super similar
I always thought Emily looked like 39
However, Lindsey is very hard to find on the secondary market because of her low sale. Going along with that people want Lindsey now and is like I said hard to get.
Something I would change about Jess is giving her a thicker wig. Not a big deal but it is my least favorite thing about her. When I have undone her braids to try a different style, I usually end up just putting them right back in pigtail braids because her wig is just too thin. Gorgeous doll otherwise!
In my opinion, Lea is the most beautiful AG doll and I think she has one of the best collections as well. Lanie's camper does happen to be my favorite collection piece though.

Not much I disagree with overall but I did kind of find your take on Nicki's appearance being generic kind of ironic, but it says more about the brand AG has become rather than what it was back then. I was in second grade when Nicki came out, peak loving AG years for me, I woke up early on 1/01/2007 to see the new GOTY and I immediately fell in love with her.
I had Felicity as a redhead to see myself in, but Nicki was the first doll who really looked like me, I thought, at the time, with her wavy hair and freckles. This was back when all the Just Like Me dolls had basically just one hairstyle: long, straight hair with bangs. Can't remember exactly when they finally started experimenting with different textures and lengths but it was after Nicki that there was finally at least a pinch of variety.
She was also to my memory the first doll with freckles. Again I'm not fact-checking anything but I got my JLM in 2006. She had long straight red hair and bangs and blue eyes. Classic face. No other distinct features because they weren't really offered at the time. I mean, if you don't give the ginger dolls freckles, I'm quite sure you're not offering them. So I was deeply satisfied when I got my Nicki doll at the AG Place in NYC.

I agree that doll recycling is SUPER annoying (especially with DOCs, cuz that's lazy) but ironically I would not complain if they recycled 62, 4, and 58. lol I can't help myself.
As much as I love dolls like 62, having them in my collection when they are retired makes me proud as a collector, though a doll like 62 with longer hair, 4 without bangs etc would be unique

I agree that the AG videos are so cringeworthy. I worked at AG when Blair launched. I must have dressed and styled 20 Blair dolls! Her meet dress is cute but very thin fabric. I didn’t like her overalls since they showed the doll’s bare waist area.
Kira was disappointing but her collection is cool. Again, the videos are terrible and so cheesy!
I think Gabriela was the worst doll release. Her hair is styled like a 40 year old.
Grace is adorable and Lea is stunning.

Just another comment. AG does weird things like the Wellie wishers have a circus outfit (ringmaster), the lion, etc...zoo items. but then they release Kira with animal activism and animal care. It makes no sense.
And to promote the Olympics when China is hosting is against human rights.
It’s definitely not the company Rowland started since the sellout.

Okay so I actually read Jess's book recently and oh my goodness the parents were completely unfit and borderline neglectful/abusive. Jess's parents straight up ignored her most of the book and just let this 10 year old girl run around ancient ruins by herself. Her friend Sarita's parents were pretty much abusive to her. They made her look after her younger brothers and drag buckets full of water up a hill to wash laundry by hand at 10 years old. I mean come on.
I want to read her book now... I'm intrigued.
Isn't the stuff Sarita has to do pretty common for kids in some countries?
