I worked at Joe's Crab Shack for a week and if you're a server you have to dance every few minutes. My biggest tip was five bucks and the girls told me to go get some dance lessons because I was so unenthusiastic. Imagine serving a table and you have to stop and do the conga line.

Now I know why I was fired so many times, I am a comedian at heart! Glad to have found my tribe. Bert your stores remind me of when I was out of control partying harder and harder every night as a ski instructor. I only had two goals in life back then - ski and party as hard as humanly possible! Looking back at some of the crazy stuff I got myself into - I think I need to rename my exploits as the SKI MACHINE! It's nice to know there is a little bit of Bert in all of us - I needed to lock that - take the partying one step further every day - part of me away eventually and leave it frozen in time - watching you guys brings it all back - I haven't laughed so much in years - brilliant stuff. i've had the similar experience. some guys in Management like you, even though youre a fuck up and constantly break rules and hate the job, they love your humour and chillness. next thing you know, theyre talking to you about how they know store managers that had 3 strikes on their records and became managers. its just so weird.

Oh man I can relate to the pizza shop nonsense. Having to push specials as a hard sell at the beginning of a call was the worst. "The customer is always right" means "The customer knows what they want". Starting off all of the interactions with 99% of people declining some bullshit "special offer" is bad for the employee, and it's rude to the customer.
One time I forgot the owner was around and a regular that I knew always got the same thing called the shop. I picked up the phone and I was like, "Hey Jeff, the usual?" and Jeff said, "Yep!", and I said, "Cool man, 30 minutes".
I didn't upsell or confirm his address or phone number or his order. Well the owner was standing behind me the whole time and I got chewed out hard for not following the script. As luck would have it I ended up taking that order on delivery and I told Jeff what happened.
The rest is a convoluted nightmare, but Jeff was not happy, and he called the shop and chewed out my boss on my behalf. It was a glorious shitshow.
Jeff's order history was easily into five figures over just a few years, and he hated the whole song and dance bullshit just as much as I did. He enjoyed being a "regular". Bartenders have known about this for centuries so I really don't understand why idiot shop owners don't. One-size doesn't fit all, and loyal customers deserve a bit of customization and rapport.

The only thing worse than getting fired is getting laid off. They always gotta act all sad and remorseful... and you walk away knowing that it wasn't because of a mistake you made or anything like that but mistakes the company made..
Got fired about a month ago. And yea, I'm 23. Got my heart broken lots, lots of injuries, but the first time i cried since I was like 12 was when I got fired for the first time. It is rough.
I had to deal with hundreds of pissed off customers and fix about 100 orders that were labeled incorrectly a couple months ago. Still contemplating suicide.

I know that feeling of getting fired. Even if it is for someone I am not happy working for anymore. Even if I initiated being fired. Like one job, I knew arguing with the supervisor would probably get me fired, but when he did it. I was depressed for awhile, and not sure what to do.
