- Hawaii is one the most beautiful places on earth and holds a special kind of energy, or Mana as the locals call it, that you have to feel in person to truly appreciate. Just ask resident Alex O’Loughlin, who made Honolulu his home seven years ago-and never wants to leave.
When the Hawaii Five-0 star isn’t playing Steve McGarrett on CBS’s longtime hit drama, he immerses himself in island life. While it isn’t always easy to tap into the spiritual side of Hawaii when you have a busy shooting schedule and family at home, Alex makes sure to pause for a beat and take all that natural beauty it in.

I can believe that! I went to Hawaii for the first time in 2012. I was there only for a week. But it was so beautiful and the culture so amazing that when I got back, it felt like part of me was still there and I needed to go back. Still feels like it to this day
I miss the show and I’m so using to hearing him with a American accent it’s weird to hear him with a Aussie accent but I love his accent

Loved this show, I didnt fly for 20 years (developed a fear of flying) when I started watching Hawaii 5-0 it made me want to go to
hawaii, and after 20 years I got on a plane in 2012 and have been going back every year since!! I will miss watching this show but I bought all the season from Amazon Prime!
It's a great place to visit and if you have money even better. I lived there, average guy, not my favorite, but it's beautiful!
Who remembers him as one of the coolest vampires in the short-lived series "Moonlight", ran a detective agency.

I know this is very, very late, but I just finished watching Moonlight Season 1, I wished I discovered it sooner but still so glad I found it. Bittersweet because I'm looking for Season 2 but I guess that was it.. :( I looove him in Moonlight

I'm just very very sad right now. Why O why does all the good shows have to end and all the CRAP gets picked up for 12 more seasons. Ugh, I'm done with TV.
Alex has been getting hurt doing his own stunts and hurt himself badly in end of Season 1 and over time hurts himself here and there and now its caught up with him as he is a lot of pain all the time.

I agree. Hawaii-Five-O has been such an awesome show. I never missed an episode. This show could have gone on for 5 to 10 more years. The ratings have been great every season. Why does CBS take off great shows and leave several other crap shows on the air? I am glad that MacGyver and Blue Bloods are still on the air. They better be picked up for another season!! I will miss Hawaii-Five-O greatly. The cast is awesome and I will miss them very much!
Agreed. We switched from NCIS to this, this is much better than what NCIS has turned into. I understand Alex' decision, though. No TV show is worth being crippled for life - the guy needs a break.
They didnt want to continue the show without Alex. Hes hurt himself early seasons filming the show and had to get surgeries so he got to a point that hes scared to get paralyzed or something worse u know. Pretty sure he said hes not healed either and is in pain all the time.

Miss Hawaii Five 0 2010 version so much I bought the DVD Series boxed set ! Can well understand why Alex O'Loughlin wouldn't want to leave Hawaii. His life has revolved around that piece of paradise for the whole time the series was on ! What's not to like? But I would love a reunion movie sometime. ! How about that for your fans, Alex ?!

Teared up @ the very end of H50 but as I said before it was beginning to go stale. Glad it ended with us wanting more. Hopefully they'll have some kind of TV movie in a year or so !!
I agree, both SVU and NCIS are still on. Will definitely miss Alex's handsome face & the great on-screen chemistry the cast had with each other. Sucks!
NCIS is not what it used to be. We went from there to Five-0. Its sad to see it end.

I've been watching this show from the beginning and I never knew he was an aussie. Though, I don't believe I've ever heard him talk outside of the show.
He has a convincing mid-American accent. So many Australians are good at American accents, you wouldn't know they spoke differently in person -- Hugh Jackman, Heath Ledger, Nicole Kidman, Cate Blanchett, Mel Gibson, etc.
I was there two years ago Hawaii is a very very nice place I love it and want to go I think Hawaii should be a state on its own I know what Steve means it's like wow the beaches the views it's great

Andrew Roberts yeah, you didn't know he was an Aussie? He puts on the American accent for the show (pretty good/pretty convincing), but in all his interviews and regular life he talks the normal way he would. Beulah Koale is not American either. He's from New Zealand and just puts on an American accent as well. I think the fans need to bombard Peter Lenkov and CBS and say they need to bring it back or do a reunion show at least or something!!!

i saw him sitting behind the imperial waikiki outside at some restaurant with his asian girlfriend and a puppy. Never said hello because it was in the evening he was probably tired from shooting. This was about 12 or 13 years ago. I have to agree what he says about hawaii BUT hes from australia and let me tell you rural queensland and some other parts of australia are EVERY BIT as beautiful as hawaii.

Yes he used to have a lot thicker accent-I have an Aussie friend and sometimes he has picked up Midwest accent but he always gets Aussie accent when he comes back from there

how does he pull off that American accent....
It's acting. You'd be surprised just how many Aussies are working in Hollywood and on tv shows. Pulling off an accent is the first part to getting work in the US.
I actually found out about him from The Invisible. He played a douche named Marcus. He had the same accent that he did on Hawaii 5-0.
A lot of your better actors from different show are British, Irish, Scottish etc. guy that player stringer bell in the wire is British the mentalist, house , 2 or 3 of the actors on the good doctor are British, fun thing is, they can straight out do Americans ascents perfect but you can tell a America doing the different ascents,
