    Absolutely love your humour brother, cleverly done. I wonder how many viewers will be scratching thier heads over this one! Never owned a Harley in nearly 50 years of riding, but my last bike will be either the SportGlide, or the Heritage. Time to retire and just chill out. I have never been brand loyal as I am a motorcycle enthusiast, and I enjoy all bike's for thier particular riding styles. Thanks for the warning about the Harley brother, LOL! Ride safe. I just bought my first Harley Davidson Nightster 2022 from Rocky Top Harley Davidson. Great sales experience. Feds are making Harley Davidson change their warranty to allow owners to work on their own bikes without voiding the warranty. I like this bike because it does not look or ride like a regular Harley. The ride experience reminds me of my Ducati Monster 696. I did have a no start issue after 3 weeks due to a bad wiring connection under the fuel tank. It took the mechanic 2.5 hours to find the error but since he took the bike completely apart to find the problem, I did not need to do the 1,000 mile service as he checked everything. I always change by own oil. I used Motul 7100 full synthetic racing oil. The starting problem seems to be a common problem with the Nightster model.

    I should have taken your advice about not buying a Harley. They forced me to buy seven new motorcycles and even coerced me into buying a couple of used ones. I was even convinced I was having a blast driving my ‘88 electraglide all over for 34 years looking for all this freedom and wind in your face. Good fuel mileage and dependability are only ploys to get you in the showrooms. Snowing now…thinking of going to the dealer to tell them I am not going to do anything other than to get a tee shirt and not buy that bike…no, not that one…that one there!

    Great video LOL. Very cheeky. I bought a used 2016 Heritage Classic 3 years ago and before that I was going to buy an Indian in Cambridge Ontario. Where both dealerships happen to be next-door to each other, really. I walked into the Indian dealership where I had an appointment and I waited 40 minutes for the sales guy who was apparently “very busy”. When I went outside I noticed a Harley dealership and I walked in and I walked out with a deal. It’s a simple as that. I had very much the same experience you did. During my 46 years having a M/C license i've owned: Honda,Kawasaki,Suzuki,and finally in 1999 could afford Harley #1.Highly customized Softail,then first bagger (bought used to see if I liked them),then a new bagger,and now a low milage 2016 Ultra Limited. This one will outlast me. If I have to go with 3 wheels at some point I'll slap on a sidecar. Trike just ain't in the cards....61 years old and a Harley just makes me grin like a kid on Christmas morning. The Japanese bikes: OK at the time but not a Harley.At 6 years old a neighbor use to put me on the back of his chopper (probably a pan head) and roar around the neighborhood. That did it for me lol. Your comments about how good the dealerships treat their customers is the same here in the UK. In fact that was why I didn't return to buying another BMW GS.

      Rode em, could have bought em. Don't want em. I like my bikes when they run and mine always do. I don't have to look far on any search to find major issues with the Milwaukee 8. Same goes with any bike they make. The EVO got worked on and is reliable (you would hope so after 40 years) and twin cams can be but were not always so as they would eat cam followers and ruin the engine. Japanese manufacturers worst bikes are far more reliable than HDs best. I don't buy a bike for resale since I ride them until the wheels fall off (21 years on the current bike). BMWs are crap, actually are less reliable than HD if you can believe it. Another example of marketing hype over reality. Keep patting each other on the back about how HD ownership is so great. They got to have someone to sell them to since the company's sales are faltering and the company is doing poorly marketing the same crap to an aging demographic.

    They must move a lot of bikes. In the olden days - late 90's - our local mom and pop Harley dealer used to work with buyers. The owner raced and built Harley's. People would come from other states just to have his shop work on their bikes. There was a line out the door and business was booming. Then corporate HD informed him he needed to have a larger dealership, fancy showroom, closer to the exit off the interstate. He fought it as long as he could, then sold to a bigger city multi HD dealership owner and retired. They built what corporate wanted and today that new massive building is torn down. I think there's a hotel there now. It's sad. HD should get back to their roots. I still love the bikes but following that corporate model sucks for us IMHO. Glad you have a good dealership to work with that takes care of their customers.

    My negativity towards Harley-Davidson is purely the hp to weight ratio per dollar spent. $40k for a heavy and slow bike. Yes slow. Your stage four doesn’t come close to the feeling you get on a 200hp bike that weighs 450lbs wet.

    • @RideAboutNow
      @RideAboutNow  Před rokem

      The hp to weight ratio is definitely not the best when it comes to Harleys but I bought this bike to cruise and for me it has enough torque and I haven’t even done stage 1 on it. If I want a really powerful cruiser or tourer I would get an Indian or a bmw.

    I just bought a 2021 street glide special and i got my own financing from a bank, i was able to get a fixed price over the phone and told him sold. 4 days later i drove to the shop and signed and paid for it. You were lucky you they made you feel like z celebrity ringing a bell. I didn't get that i got thank you enjoy your new bike.
    And for the service i was shocked on what you were saying, to me in my opinion it's great that they make it somewhat easy to work on your own bike. I mean when you're like me working for the man that i have a choice to work on my bike for just the price of parts vs paying for the parts plus their rip off hourly charges. I mean to install mirrors takes what 10 mins and you have the shop do it they charge you for the entire hour so at $150hr installing $30 mirrors would be $180
    So to me making it somewhat easy for us people to service ourselves i like it.
    Just remember you always have that option to bring it to the shop and let them do the work. But in my opinion i wouldn't hate the brand because they make it easy.
    Just imagine if they made it so you need special tools to replace anything. Ugh that be costly.
    So i would lighten up just a little on the servicing, not everyone has endless cash

      @RideAboutNow  Před 2 lety +1

      The service center is a ripoff anywhere and any brand. My point on that was that if you have a little know how you can wrench yourself and save all that money because Harleys are much easier to work on when compared to bikes like BMW or a Ducati etc. I am not a handy man but put a lot of accessories myself and saved thousands in labor costs. Even an oil change is easy to do on my bike which I will do next myself and save at least $300.

    I bought a 2020 Heritage 114 at the end of last summer and I can’t believe I dropped 20k on this thing. Honestly it was the worst purchase I have ever made. It’s loud, I put some new mufflers on it and it got worse. I mean seriously this thing can scare small animals in the next town over, and that’s not even the worst part! I don’t get to visit my favorite gas station nearly as much as I do with my truck. Gas stations are a place to meet the lovely homeless tweakers that are there begging for money so they can get their next fix. I don’t know what it is with meth but these guys get really creative with their stories of needing this or their car ran out of gas a block away, or whatever, I ride the Harley and I don’t get to hear these stories as much. And the absolute worst part of this purchase is the seat… That’s right the seat on the bike. It’s horribly comfortable and I just hate when I’m finished with a ride, even a ride to get cat food or something simple, I have to get off the bike. You may not think that’s too bad but after I get off the bike, it becomes a matter of my head thinking when am I going to be able to get back on. Seriously I want to go riding again and I can’t because of work, or needing to eat or sleep, and I just want to ride more. This really messes up my head and drives me crazy. Worst purchase ever.
