nNiveau: How to Use the Depth Checker

  • In this video we look at verifying the clearance of the rear baffle for Canon RF mount, Nikon Z mount, Sony E mount, and Fuji X mount cameras. Camera used in this video is a Canon RP. To negate the issue of the baffles you should use the electronic shutter mode so no mechanical shutter is released or actuated.
    Steps:
    1. Turn on your camera.
    2. Without a lens mounted fire the shutter to locate the position and location of the shutter.
    3. Place the depth checker on the camera. Do not fire the shutter. Inspect the rear baffle to see if it could possibly interfere with the shutter (i.e. it sits in a position that would interfere with the shutter). If there looks to be a possibility of interference, remove the depth checker and repeat step two and three to verify.
    4a. If you believe there is no interference, fire the shutter to verify.
