  • Yes. I really removed the springs on my $1000 coils! It’s a common method in a japan and in the Stance scene to have a stiff ride without paying $200-$300 for 326 or swift springs! Most people use 20-30 washers for eachf coil but I used a 3/4th 1/16th 38” steel tube and cut it into 4” (Length depends on desired ride height) This is a great bang for your buck and something to trip people out with when your at carmeets hah! Can you explain to me the difference between coil overs and washers do washers make the car lower ?

    • @keatonwalker4002
      @keatonwalker4002 Před rokem +8

      Washers just increase the stiffness to where the suspension won't flex or rebound back into the fender pretty much making it way to stiff for comfort but good for perfect fitment without rubbing when hitting bumps..but you'll probably go to the moon with it being so stiff. Never ran washers I've wanted to but I don't see the point it's kinda unsafe...

    Can you run washers on stock suspension?

    • @alexc.8424
      @alexc.8424 Před 4 lety +7

      Yes, if you plan on just running washers there is no reason to buy coilovers.

      @@alexc.8424 i wanna do that ...run oem on washers or pipe...but honestly have no idea what 2 do

    • @alexc.8424
      @alexc.8424 Před 4 lety +6

      @@fishtanknoob3833 do exactly what this guy did, just with the stock suspension. Remove the top hat and spring (do it safely and use spring compressors), then get rid of all the dust covering crap (if it is in the way and should be removed), remove the bump stop(s), then put the stock suspension back in the car bare bones (no washers just yet).
      Now what you need to do is use a jack and jack up the hub to see how low you can go before you A: start rubbing or B: parts start colliding in unsafe ways (for example the upper control arm in the front hitting the top of the strut tower). Just jack up the hub until you are as low as you can go, and then take a pair of measuring calipers to measure the length of the inner shock rod in between the top hat and the bottom half of the strut (the part where you will put your washers). Once you have measured this gap, then just measure how many washers will fill that gap, then out the washers on the strut. Then you put it all back in the car.
      It's as simple as that, hopefully my explaining helps you out. I did this on my coilovers and actually figured out a way to run springs and washers without have to take apart the whole coilover every time I need to switch from washers to normal springs. Lmk if you need anymore help.

    • @hadoob
      @hadoob Před 4 lety +1

      @@alexc.8424 Did this blow your shocks? I have some stiff springs on my stock shocks and they blew within a couple of weeks. Now whenever I hit a bump I go flying upwards.

    • @alexc.8424
      @alexc.8424 Před 4 lety +2

      @@hadoob It shouldn't no. I did the same thing with my shocks, I ran 15k and 20k springs and it destroyed my shocks. This is because the shocks are not built/valved for stronger springs, therefore the springs cause the shocks to expand faster and stronger, which the valves are not made to handle.
      Now in regards to stock shocks on washers, I don't think you will have an issue because you are not causing the shocks to deal with stronger springs, they are just staying compressed the whole time. Don't take my words as fact, because I've only ever run washers on blown shocks, but if I had to give an answer I don't think it would be a problem.
