  • So after we installed the 'lowering springs' in the last video and they sat HIGHER than the stock springs, we said we would cut the springs/chop the springs. So I am a man of my word.. we cut the springs haha!

    Brings back memories. I did this on my RSTurbo back in the 90s 😁 Kept taking bit more off till it was very low. Neons didn't last long lol.
    I drilled a hole in the spring seats and twisted some steel wire around the spring to keep them in place 👍

    When you cut springs with a grinder the heat created from the cut releases the spring load. So when you want to cut a spring have a hose running on the section you want to cut and cut bit by bit. You don’t want the metal of the spring to get very hot. That’s the aim and you will see that the spring will not be bouncy when you drive

    • @nobodynoone2500

    • @adamrushka8096
      @adamrushka8096 Před 8 měsíci

      The spring shouldn't get hot enough to collapse from a grinder. Especially if you don't have any weight on the spring.

    To try and get the springs to stay in the shocks on full droop, loosen and tighten the suspesion arms when the suspension is compressed. The tension of the bushes on full droop might be enough to compress the shock slightly

    If you need to separate a ball joint. Hit what it goes through. Don't hit the threads even with a nut on the end. So for example if the ball joint is part of the lower arm and it goes through the hub. Hit the hub on the side of the part the ball joint taper goes through. Will save you a load of hassle.

    This is a perfect demonstration what really happens when you cut them. How bad is it? How long can you run it this way? many questions to answer and From my experience years and years ago not worth it for long term. You will bend a shock or place a wide strain as it can not hold that much pressure since its not designed to do so so yes ride will be like crap and will fell like you are sitting on a sensitive spring and bunch like one. Let me tell ya a lot of bouncing and could win a bouncing championship.
