- Ferrari’s 2024 season has started exactly how Sainz would’ve wanted it to start, with a podium finish that was earned by passing two drivers who would play a hugely important role in his career in 2024. But what is even more important is that his current race pace and race craft do have the potential to hinder Ferrari’s choices that the team has already made in 2025, and a huge question has arisen all of a sudden - did the Maranello team do the right thing by replacing Sainz with Hamilton, and was it all in the driver’s performance when it comes to the deficit to Red Bull?

Carlos is a very good F1 driver with a sharp mind towards strategy..but he's definitely not as fast as Charles is throughout the different F1 venues. Yes on occasion he can better Charles but looking overall it's not even a discussion.
Sainz is more level headed than LeClerc. LeClerc is faster but very prone to making mistakes....being fast without the finesse to keep it on track or staying calm under pressure makes Charles' driving very volatile. He is slipping further and further away from the racer we expect him to be as fans.
A balanced driver will always succeed than being an aggressive driver with speed

@@nicomeier8098 Yeah, lec couldn't win a single race last year. Also, Sainz has that Las Vegas incident for which FIA did nothing and also the Australian race. Quality matters more than those points

I've always thought LeClare flatters to deceive and if Saintz has now just woken up prompted by the Hamilton switch then great BUT why on earth has he left it until his Ferrari farewell season? If he has the talent which he showed in the race, why was he previously hiding it?
He was trying to kee the team happy. Now he knows they don’t care, so he is going to go for it. Essentially a fire was lit underneath him

My belief is that; Ham to Ferrari has little to do with racing and more about image, for commercial reasons. Ferrari is associated with sports cars and it's embarrassing for them to not be champs. Whenever Ham is mentioned, we hear/read "the seven-time world champion". F1 is gaining exposure and popularity and many casual followers don't follow the details. In 2025, the world is gonna be hearing/reading "the seven-time world-champion in the Ferrari". Many will take that to mean that Ferrari are champions.
Lewis gets to be associated with Ferrari which will help him in his other endeavours.
LH _knows_ that his championship days are over so let‘s focus on image.
Sainz should bump Perez out... Verstappen/Sainz back to the Toro Rosso days.

Leclerc is a good driver but not really be a World Champion in the next few years. He wouldn't win in 2024 as Max's car is far superior. And from 2025 onwards Ferrari's focus would be on Hamilton and Leclerc would have to play second fiddle. So till 2026 he doesn't have any chance.
Sainz to mercedes. I really don't think that red bull will put him in that seat and match the money mercedes are willing to pay him. I think red bull don't think his monetary value to be as high ,even though they can obviously afford it.. ✌️👍🇬🇧

Leclerc had a brake issue and spoke how bad it was in the post race interview. Without this he would have destroyed Sainz.

Absurd … brake issues , u have brake issues u end up retiring the car . We have seen that 20 times over , last year stroll for example .
This dude had to justify his lack of performance some how having the same brake issues Sainz had and was told to cool off away from streams on straight line .

Ferrari should get rid of Charles and keep carlos sainz he's way better than Charles who's only good in qualifying. Ferrari needs someone who's gonna bring home wins and show Ferrari what they need to improve on to make them even faster. Looks like Ferrari made another huge mistake by choosing to keep slow poke Charles over the smooth operator carlos sainz. I think carlos needs to prove hes better than Charles all year than maybe they'll choose him instead.

Leclerc will never be a champ. He lacks qualities of a champion. He has the pace but that's not enough to be a champion. He lacks leadership qualities. He's 5 years into Ferrari and doesn't command the team nor dictate terms in order to maximise his advantage. He isn't ruthless and is more of a yes man. Whenever the team makes questionable decisions he gets angry, sulks and then goes along with it instead of challenging the decision. Every other champion has been a clear leader in the team, is ruthless.
Carlos imo has those qualities but I don't think he has Leclerc's pace.
But pace can be aquired more easily than the other qualities. See Nico Rosberg against Ham.
