I’m hoping we’ll see a drinks tray accessory, so we no longer need interns to pick up our coffees
If they do that, what else will we make the interns do 😮

Check out SIT Port's purple Spot, some young students actually installed drink tray on Spot and teach him to carry drinks all over the office!

Finally a practical use of these robots!
The speed of the changing world is faster than I imagined.
Robots are becoming more and more useful
Came for robot uprising but stayed for the hair.
At 1:10, does it seem like the "inefficient asset" that Spot is finding is the human being??
Yes
Spot is a genius, it found a manager and recognized the inefficient asset
Absolutely 💯
I dont think its just a coincidence that the line about inefficiencies occurs at the same time as having a human being inspected by a robot. Ultimately a human is a very inefficient machine when compared to the capability's and efficiency of even todays robots, future AI + robotics will make humans obsolete in the workplace.
Thanks for making the future robot's ❤
Love the work you are doing in robotics field, hope to see more robots like Spot, ❤😊
From the bottom of my hearth, no matter if intentional or not. Thank you for helping bring the post-labour world closer and closer each day with your work.
they took mah jerb!
Empathy?
Mary, did I detect some emotion at 10:23?
I know I have a great awe for what this video and company means. This is the future, and you got to share the announcements to some of the first major steps in making self controlled robots an everyday thing.
Next step is Atlas turning into the NS-1 from I, Robot...
Impressive! It is great to see Orbit integrated with Spot who is the Top Dog for all dull, dirty and dangerous tasks.
It is definietely good technology in my opinion. However I would have a question for Boston Dynamics: how can this compare to IIoT? I mean, for example if I would need to monitor a pump, flow, temperature, etc. I could just put a sensors which tell me the values in preset intervals (seconds, minutes, hours, ...). What/where is the extra value with spot?
I don't know much about the environments Spot would be working in, but it's possible the expense of a $75,000 (plus operating costs) robot would be cheaper than replacing a piece of equipment that can't return the information you need through sensors, or if you want to verify that a sensor isn't malfunctioning. I imagine there is a huge difference between safely dispatching a human in the middle of the night to verify an anomalous reading on a chemical plant reactor vs. a robot. Bottom line: Spot can't file for worker's comp.
Spot On ❤
I think that would also be useful for safety inspections lets say, find things that are out of spot and notify for a safety risk. Pretty cool stuff
Its fascinating how much change is happening in such a relatively short amount of time.
Big fan here! Until now everything seems to be hard coded... Can't wait to see Spot with a good behavioural AI model
Please tell me that spot will be able to run at some point
I'm not certain what is more amazing, Spot or her hair.
Awesome ❤
Very exciting news.
This looks like it could help companies stay on top of maintenance and to manage hazardous situations. The questionable downside could be a potential malicious hack of spot, and or, the system that enables the hacker to hide existing problems or to prevent needed remedial measures from being taken. It sounds like they will not have it connected to the internet, but that does not mean that the system, and or, spot could not be hacked by a malicious actor.
You mean like Alec Baldwin?
This great
What about dusty areas to keep the cameras clean? If outside with rain or snow?
Yes. I would like to see Spot demonstrated in slightly more environmentally unfriendly conditions. Not too nasty. Who's gonna deploy a 70-100K robot in the muck? Right? Though they just might have that model. Off-road Spot.
@@Pottery4Life
They could call it the Alabama Spot. 🤠
Spot does not work in rain. and dust is not good either. the fan is outside and visible.
Spot is very good, but sadly there is other brands that is working better (IP65) and also at lower cost.
This is great news.. This is what the SCOUT should have been.. I hope they offer trade-in options for payload and spot itself.
This is so innovative. I'm in complete awe.
I wonder if is already needed to be implemented the Three Laws of Robotics? Can it be done? I'm referring to all A.I./robotic systems.
What's the Boston Dynamics opinion about that? Is that necessary already? Or, at least, can it be done? Those laws to be inserted into the complex dynamic algorithms of an A.I.? With a 1st priority, of course. Or, even a hardware with those laws inserted directly to CPU...? May I have an answer please!
The idea of applying a moral framework to AI systems is very interesting and becoming increasingly important as they become more intelligent, so this is a good line of thinking.
'I wonder if is already needed to be implemented the Three Laws of Robotics? Can it be done? I'm referring to all A.I./robotic systems.'
- Asimov's 'three laws' are a science fiction idea that don't hold up that well to complex moral or philosophical interrogation. In a fashion, they could be applied; but you could never realistically apply it to ALL AI / robotic systems, because bad actors could just reverse engineer the ones that are safe to build a system without any safeties.
'What's the Boston Dynamics opinion about that? Is that necessary already? Or, at least, can it be done?'
- Boston Dynamics isn't one of the groups making 'intelligent' AI (which I'm guessing holds much more of the concern). Spot (and Atlas) are highly reactive robots that navigate to a location. While extremely impressive feats of engineering - they aren't 'intelligent'.
'Those laws to be inserted into the complex dynamic algorithms of an A.I.? With a 1st priority, of course. Or, even a hardware with those laws inserted directly to CPU...? May I have an answer please!'
- You wouldn't be able to just 'insert' that kind of reasoning into an AI or the CPU, it basically has to be built into the AI from the ground up. I personally believe that the closest thing to the 'three laws' that would be flexible enough to be viable in the real world is trying to provide the AI some form of universal morals. Something vaguely like 'benefit people as much as you can while doing no harm'. Of course, it would have to be much more nuanced than that in reality.
What would be the cost of a SPOT-disabled-assistance-dog?
❤❤❤❤
Does anyone know if Spot is Ex rated (ATEX)?
Um....don't search for "Boston Dynamics", on the Rule 34 site...Spot is indeed X-rated...😱
Drone with nuclear power that can fly up to many hour. It will be awesome for monitoring n inspection job
Wait, this Wasnt this available from the start 😅

-10% to foreign workers, +5% productivity
+20% chance to roll a natural 1
Spot costs $75K - If that can give you a 5% increase in productivity I think a lot of large companies would take it - And if you have to put 10% less of your workers in dangerous situations or make them work night shift, even better - get them doing something Spot can't do

When you introduce Spot linked with 73 other bots plus add out latest Orbit AI. You can fire every human worker like you've been wanting to do for years now.

Yes, this is a good thing in the long run. There will growing pains, and some people will lose their jobs. We'll be hearing real discussion about universal basic income soon.

If ya'll don't focus on mass-production, and price-reduction, Tesla's gonna drive you out of business in a few years. I mean, you should strive to become the DJI of consumer household robotics.
Tesla isn’t in the robot business they have one robot (not counting the AI in the cars) planned and it’s not too promising yet
