Israeli police arrested the internationally renowned feminist Palestinian academic Nadera Shalhoub-Kevorkian at her home in Jerusalem on Thursday on charges of incitement to violence. Shalhoub-Kevorkian, who holds both Israeli and U.S. citizenship, was suspended by Hebrew University last month after saying in an interview Israel was committing genocide in Gaza, though the university later reinstated her. We speak with anthropologist Sarah Ihmoud, who describes Shalhoub-Kevorkian as a mentor and inspiration to her and many others. "We hold the Hebrew University of Jerusalem responsible for the arrest and detention because of its persistent and public repression of her academic freedom, which led directly to yesterday's arrest," says Ihmoud, who teaches at College of the Holy Cross and is co-founder of the Palestinian Feminist Collective. "We see this as yet another example of Israel attacking Palestinians wherever they are, whoever they are. It underscores that no Palestinian is safe under Israel's racist apartheid rule."

However, the two thousand plus swept up during the hostage exchange to replace those being handed over can hardly all be said to have been arrested after a proper investigation. What about the tens of thousands who have been held, without charge, in indefinite detention, some for ten years and counting? What about the hundreds of thousands charged in Military courts, without a lawyer, often in a foreign language having at no stage been provided with a translator even to tell them the charge, and with an almost 100% conviction rate? Often their families have been trying to find out what happened to them for months, trying to provide a lawyer, or afterwards, spend years trying to find out where they are held or if they are even still alive. Bear in mind, many of these are very young children, who can face 20 years jail for being suspected of throwing stones. Meanwhile mobs of Israeli "settlers" attack small children, the elderly, even babies' prams with stones as Israeli soldiers do nothing, or even join in.

He is in the way of those who think they should be heroes
Who are would be heroes
