Arundhati Roy won the Booker Prize in 1997 for her first novel, The God of Small Things. She then turned to activism and nonfiction, writing books including Capitalism: A Ghost Story and Power Politics, becoming one of Time’s 100 most influential people in the world in the process. In her long-awaited second novel, Roy follows two very different protagonists. Anjum is born intersex and lives as a woman, cobbling together a home in a cemetery. The beguiling Tilo, meanwhile, is courted by several men, and loves a Kashmiri activist. When concern over an abandoned infant brings Anjum and Tilo together, Roy deftly weaves her characters' fates with India's social and political tensions, using multiple points of view as well as "found" documents.

Hardly any one believes her lies in India. Hence she travels as guest speaker to these countries where she can fool them and make money.

No need to feel sorry , that's the way things are ! For a long time I considered the ruling mass as a bunch of hardened men who drive the borders among men n women, insensitive and intensely arrogant. Arundhati Roy's whole writing and activism is against this bunch ! Nevertheless men of this lot do have a responsibility of running the show and maintain a semblance of order....

      Bhaskar Bhusari
, her rant is against this smug Indian middle class. They are the ones who elected killer Modhi to help line their pockets and perpetuate the obscenity that is going on in India. These types are insensitive to anything remotely civilised or civilising.
