- The White Sox are willing to trade Luis Robert before the MLB trade deadline. Here are 4 trades involving the Braves, Phillies, Dodgers and Mariners (all teams I believe would be in on Robert). This is what it could take to get Robert from the White Sox, especially if a bidding war erupts. Would you do it?

UPDATE To The Phillies Trade Proposal. Mick Abel OUT, Andrew Painter IN. Reason below:
Abel has struggled in 2024 (I was aware during the prep and recording) but I was still operating with the information available...that he was a 55/80 prospect.
NEW information has JUST become available from Baseball America. They have just updated their Top 100 prospects & Mick Abel is OUT!
That likely means he is no longer regarded as a 55/80 prospect. Most likely it means 40-45/80 because most of the players in the back half of that list are in the 45-50/80 range.
The proposal in the video would be a yes from me, a Phillies fan. Switching out Painter for Abel makes it a hard no for me.
Phillies can also throw in Johan Rojas who has been improving this year. Hes a young MLB ready player.
However hard pass on Robert. I think The Phillies are fine without him. This team has great chemistry and they can hit 1-9. If anything they need a Right handed bullpen arm that can close games if possible.

Raley/Haniger LF platoon
D-Mo/Rojas 3B platoon and D-Mo becomes the emergency guy in the OF.
Then I'm using Canzone in a package to go get a reliever.
Raley doesnt need to platoon LF, Raley can hit LHP perfectly fine and isn't a defensive liability in the OF link Haniger is. Keep haniger as a bench bat or to give corners a day off.
@@M4L1CE That's not the point, Haniger is much better against LHP than Raley, period. You should platoon them against the starters at the very least. If Raley needs to hit vs left handed pitching late in the game to keep the best defense on the field, then fine. By that argument, Haniger is "just fine" vs RHP and does that a lot more than Raley does, so Raley should be on the bench. Silly, right?
That's a good deal for you guys, I thought Emmerson Hancock would be part of that trade.
@@larryromero3374 If it were Emerson Hancock and not Colt Emerson, I would 100% do that trade. For me, Colt Emerson and Felnin Celesten are the only two untouchables in our farm system right now. It would need to be a crazy package to include either of them.
You could also platoon haniger and garver at dh

Mariners fan here and i say send it. We have some great ss prospects coming up in a couple years. Its ok to move one of them and any pitching prospects im ok with moving.
As mariners fan, Hell no. 1 good year on Luis stats with lots of strikeout….nope. M’s need a consistent bat. Luis looks like another teoscar at tmobile park but with better D. Luis is not the type of player to overpay trade for.
Robert is one of my favorite non Brave player, I would love to see him in a Braves uniform. I would rather keep Smith-Shawver and add Swellenbach. Let’s get the deal done👍👍
As a Mariners fan, the deal makes sense in a vacuum, but idk if I'd do it. I'd actually prefer switching out Colt Emerson for either Cole Young or Harry Ford, who are our #1 and #2 ranked prospects, and then I'd consider it. Though Robert is a great player, the Mariners biggest issue offensively is how much they strikeout and the fact that their OBP is extremely low, they actually do well in the slugging department and have performed above league average with runners in scoring position, the problem is getting runners there in the first place. Robert has a K% around 30% which is one of the worst in the league and despite having a great season last year, his OBP was a measly .315, which ranked 98th out of 134 players last year. He's a great player but his weaknesses are the types of things this offense is already struggling with, so I'd rather go for a high OBP, low K% guy that will really fix those weaknesses and raise the ceiling of the offense, guys like Paredes or Lamonte Wade Jr.
I would melt if we got paredes him and arrozarena where the reason I recently turned back into baseball and to my surprise found out my mariners where doing good again been keeping an eye out for about over year and have been loving the team
As an M's fan, I'm definitely not doing that if Colt Emerson is going out. Robert isn't someone I would target anyway with the M's current roster construction. I doubt Jerry or Justin is very interested in a deal like that either.
Braves fan here, there is no way that the White Sox trade Luis Robert to the Braves without getting both AJSS and Waldrop. Vines doesn't move the needle either way and Kuehler and McCabe are far from sure fire prospects and both are older prospects (22 and 24 y/o) who are still a few years away from reaching the majors and are more of a high floor / low ceiling type prospects.
💯 As much as I’d love Robert I think AA will go a similar route he did in 21. Hopefully find some hidden gems
Because of the years of control I would consider it as a Braves GM however with Fried most likely gone next year it would be tough to pull the trigger on our top pitching prospect
Mariners fan! No way I do this deal! Emerson is now the 15th ranked prospect in all of baseball per baseball America and Farmelo is now ranked 63. This would be highway robbery given Robert's injury history. You have to take the durability into consideration. Robert has only played in more than 100 games one year in his career. Also, I have to comment regarding your comment about wishing Luis Robert hustled to first base. I recommend you watch the CZcams video of Luis Robert running to first base in May of 2021 where he suffered a complete tear of his right hip flexor. Might be a good reason why he doesn't hustle to first base now. Robert is extremely delicate and must be handled with care.

I would make that trade as a Phillies fan. We still have Painter and Miller for the future. I like Abel but I would take Robert if it means giving him up.

As a Mariners fan. I’d take that deal. The Mariners have a starting rotation that is entirely too good to waste. If I was in control I’d make this deal for and I’d still go try to make a deal for Bichette or Vlad. I’d basically empty the farm system except for Harry Ford for Luis Robert and Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
prospects are a coin toss. And many of those players are still gonna be in the minors for awhile and if I’m in control I’m gonna sell out for a shot at a World Series win while this starting rotation is dominant. And I think Most Ms fans would be ok with that

As a Mariners fan, its tough because Luis Robert strikes out a ton and doesnt get on base a lot. Def dont want to trade Emerson or Farmelo for him.
I would say for Texas to go get him, however, where will he play (DH)?? His production at the plate is great and he is solid at defense. Maybe trade Traveres in the package.

In my opinion, I think that's a steal. You are getting a top 20 player, and you don't have to get rid of Andrew Painter that is an amazing deal.

As a dodger fan I feel like dodgers would rather give up one of the top catching prospects like dalton rushing instead of Jose de Paula. He definitely seems like an untouchable guy

The headliners in those deals don't intrigue me. The Dodgers trade is probably the only one I would consider.
A comparable deal for Robert would be what the Sox got for Eaton from Washington. Giolito, Lopez and Dunning. Giolito was a top 5 prospect in baseball, Lopez top 20 and Dunning just out of the top 100. None of your deals had a top 20 prospect and only 1 top 50. So they are pretty weak. The fact that most of the other teams fans liked your offers tells you as much.
As a Sox fan, I would want a pitcher but I want a bat as my headliner. Preferably A+ or higher or higher level. That being said, my ideal matches would be Cubs or Orioles. They have the best position player depth.
Braves: I'd need two of AJ/Waldrup/Schwellenbach
Phillies: Painter would have to be included.
Seattle: I'd want two of Young/Ford/Emerson
Cubs: I'd want two of Caissie/Shaw/Alcantara
Baltimore: One of Mayo/Kjerstad, one of Norby/Beavers, one of McDermott/Povich.
None of these fans would like it, but that's how it's supposed to work.
Seattle would be lucky if Chicago took this deal. Seattle ownership won't take on roberts' contract, though, so it' doesn't matter
I would not mind Luis Robert on the Phillies. It's that injury history that's scary. It's alot to give up for a player that may or may not play
I’m not sure if Dave Dombrowski is going to make a move, but I think he will, but I still think we have the best team in baseball right now. Our pitching is great minus Taijuan Walker. Hopefully he can turn it around soon but if he can’t. Turnball will replace him.
Johan Rojas is the biggest problem on the Phillies & need to get him off the team!! His defense isn’t good enough to leave a hole is the 9th spot.
Imagine Harper went after Sega and not Walker and Suzuki and not another bum from the reds IDK I couldn't have been the only one screaming that
Why would Seattle want Ty France? He has been pretty bad outside of the home run in May. He is slow and hits into DP. Wed get rid of RF and 1B. Dom would be more likely gone to. Mitch Haninger should go too. I am not opposed to seeing Mitch Garver go too. They have massive holes.

I think the dodgers could give up more if they get to keep Josue De Paula. Dodgers need a OF prospect like that. Dalton Rushing is a more sure thing than De Paula and could be dependable considering the will Smith extension
I think the plan would be to move Smith to third and have Dalton catch post Muncy. And if Roki gets posted this offseason which a lot of people think he will you could be looking at a rotation that includes Glasnow Ohtani Yamamoto Sasaki Miller and May/Stone/Sheehan for years to come. I think guys like Frasso and Hurt would be more expendable
Dodger will set back and watch everyone else upgrade and trade for Pham rig hat the deadline. This trade makes to much sense for the Dodgers to complete. I just don’t thing Andrew will do it

On 2nd thought noticed Luis Robert in 2023 had a 28.9% strike out rate and a 5% walk rate. He would fit the Mariners culture like the missing puzzle piece. Do this deal now! Lol
No team needs him more than the Mariners. The Dodgers certainly don’t need him but they’ll end up with him.
Phillies will end up making a trade for Robert or maybe Randy Arozrana , I don't think they need a big bat. Maybe get like Tyler O' Neil & a bullpen arm that isn't Mason Miller

Jim the White Sox Need bats and some with power. Atl trade has to much pitching. As for Phillies trade Abel sucks needs to be painter and Aiden Miller Crawford does have a bat. I love Depaula but that's it on the Dodgers trade. Finally with the Seattle trade I'll pass On all those guys. If you trade Robert you need a Bat that Has way higher upside like Druw Jones and Tommy Troy from AZ or Ethan Salas leodalis De vries from San Diego. Dalton Rushing and Depaula from LA. Or Manzardo and delauter from Cleveland. Trade needs to start with two high ceiling bats. The Sox have a Decent pitching staff at Double A right now so it can guys a little further down the line.

M's fan here, I'm 100% doing this trade. I would rather us send our #1 prospect Cole Young and keep Colt Emerson though. Moving Robert to a corner OF may help cut down on some of the injuries. This is the kind of trade Jerry and Justin like doing with years of control coming with the player they are trading for.

Mariners fan here. Colt is untouchable and Robert is a walking injury. No way we send out a top 15 prospect in all of baseball for a guy who cant stay on the field.
The way you're creating trade packages doesn't work... Colt Emerson is a top 20 prospect in every other ranking other than the MLB Pipeline... he's far and away the biggest chip offered in any of these trades. That Dodgers offer is a joke compared to Seattle's offer.

@Mr1stcat knack isn't that highly regarded in the org he's very expendable in a trade. There's far more highly touted arms that we have that are above high him. He has shown that he can be a suitable #4 or #5 in the big leagues atm so that's valuable.
They would want Depaula. I could see them trading Rushing and Cartaya though.

Hard pass for Braves to trade for Robert. Need to keep AJSS. Kelenic has 4+yrs of team control, Harris is signed through 2030 and Acuna's 2027/28 club option(s) will 100% get picked up or his deal reworked. So, nowhere for Robert to fit long term. Plus that $20M AAV would be better spent elsewhere.

Actually, because Luis Robert can't stay healthy, I don't even have him in my top ten of guys I'd like to see Mariners target.
He'll cost way too much, given how often he's even available to play, and he doesn't really help us much with the biggest problem we have, which is strikeouts. Much of his value comes from being a center fielder, which we also don't need.

Dalton Rushing, Landon Knack, Justin Wrobleski, Trey Sweeney, Alexander Albertus, Jared Karros for Luis Robert Jr and Tommy Pham. People will say that why would the Sox want Rushing since they have Quero but Rushing can play catcher or first base. I think this is fair for both sides. And Tommy Pham is on a 1 year deal should cost much. Should be able to be a throw in for this deal. Josue De Paula and Joendry Vargas are the only untouchable prospects. Maybe even Alex Freeland.

Sweeney was acquired to be put into this type of package. Much like the Dodgers got top prospects from the Reds in the Kemp/Puig trade that they flipped for Mookie and Trea Turner.
