    I was over-weight, pre-diabetic, and had all inds of "syndromes". I was advised to go on a plant based diet. That was 5 years ago and I will never look back. Best thing I could have done for my health.

      Good work. Plant based diets are wonderful and it’s only in recent history that humans have consumed lots of meat and processed foods. Excessive meat consumption is killing the planet and people.

    • @ChicagoDeb
      @ChicagoDeb Před rokem +1

      @@whitneyanders5945 Meat-eating is "recent history"? LOL! That's true about processed foods (as well as their extremely detrimental effects), but not at all about meat/fish! Our ancient ancestors started out as hunter-gatherers and were so for an extremely long time, mostly hunting/fishing and gathering only the few edible and nonpoisonous plants that grew naturally (which were different in their types and numbers over the millenia). It wasn't until people stopped wandering/being nomadic as much and what we now call farming emerged did plant eating increase...but hunting/fishing was still always practiced, as that food provided (and still provides) much more in nutrients, good fats, and necessary amounts of protein (there were no vitamins/supplements and protein shakes/bars for that until recently history), and it could be obtained year-round and also preserved to be eaten if hunting/fishing was slower because of seasons/weather or other factors.
      All that said, everyone is different in their health and needs...a solely plant-based diet may work and can be "wonderful" for you and others but it can be insufficient/ineffective for others.
      As for your last statement...there are many people who eat a heavily or even solely carnivore diet (which is much more than just beef/red meat), even for many decades, and they're doing just fine and are extremely healthy (as was true for our ancient ancestors, obviously, since humans evolved and are still around). And it's not killing the planet, either (though some of our deplorable practices in raising the animals do have negative effects...as does our poisoning the soil/earth/plant seeds with pesticides and GMO practices).
      Please do some very serious research about such things (not limiting yourself to only people/results that say and support what you already think/believe)...especially before making (and believing) such generalized, "absolute" proclamations.

    Hi, Katie: I'm focused on age-appearance; therefore, I'm reasonably accurate at guessing one's age, regardless of their lifestyle. (Consistent sun protection is key!) Dr. Mark Hyman says he's 63. He looks 58. My humble advice to your viewers: Keep things simple. Protect your skin from the sun. Don't smoke. Eat veggies. Exercise regularly. Accept that you cannot change the world, yet make your corner of the world a better place:)

It consists of 4 quarters. 1st quarter: youth: birth to 22.5. 2nd quarter: prime adulthood: 22.5-45. 3rd quarter: middle age: 45-67.5. 4th quarter: senior years: 67.5-90. Sudden death overtime: 90-100. Anyone who hits 90 has a 1 in 2 chance of dying before their next birthday.

    richer. The addiction to self-help also fills their bank accounts. Along with prayers and my Bible, I manage my life just fine by doing something absolutely scandalous: believing in, and thinking for myself.

    Katie Couric strikes me as a very serious person at her core. She’s not a “He-He” or “Haw-Haw” type of individual. She’s not jocular or “Hail fellow, well met.” Being “bubbly” and “perky” is just an image, and only her “persona.” Actually, Katie strikes me as a super serious person. I like that a lot. Life has many serious components that one needs to take seriously. The question of aging, lifespan, and longevity, is a very serious topic that needs to be addressed with solemnity and gravitas. Dr. Hyman seems too “jokey” here.

    Socializing studies confuse correlation with causation. My severe IBS prevents me from socializing more, and I’m sure it’s not good for my lifespan. So its the opposite causation from what the studies purport to show. If you have chronic conditions you can’t socialize as much, but then you will obviously have a shorter life span. The medical profession prefers to blame patients rather than that they have no cure
