- In this Japan Travel Video we'll show you how we spent 18 days in the land of the Rising Sun! Japan is one of our favorite countries to visit and during our latest trip we visited popular cities like Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Nara and Nikko, but also spent time at Mount Fuji, Mount Takao or Kamakura, and went to lesser known areas like Kawagoe and Shibamata. Let this video inspire you to also visit the wonderful country of Japan!
Here's a brief rundown of our Itinerary:
Traveled in April, 2023
Day 1 - Flight to Tokyo, and brief exploration of Chiyoda and area around Hotel in Nihimbashi
Day 2 - Visited Meiji Shrine in Shibuya, followed by Shimokitazawa, then headed back to Shibuya to see the Shibuya Scramble from high above, and spent rest of the day exploring the streets and shops and having some food.
Day 3 - Visited Mount Takao for a hike in nature, and closed the day at Asakusa's Hoppy Street with some Yakitori.
Day 4 - Traveled to Mount Fuji where we visited the Chureito Pagoda, explored Shimoyoshida a bit, visited Oishi park at Lake Kawaguchi and bought some Sake at Ide Sake Brewery.
Day 5 - Explored Asakusa, Ueno and Akihabara followed by experiencing a Baseball game at Meiji Jingu Stadium.
Day 6 - Started the Morning at Tsukiji Market, visited the Tokyo Tower and explored Nakameguro for some food and craft beer.
Day 7 - Traveled to the Seaside town of Kamakura and visited many of its shrines including Hokokuji, Hasedera and Kotoku-in with the Great Buddha Statue, then tasted streetfood at Komachi dori
Day 8 - Rainy day program: Visited Shopping arcade of Nakano and the Nakano Broadway plaza, followed by food and exploration of Shinjuku
Day 9 - Moved over to Kyoto and had some excellent Wagyu in Pontocho alley.
Day 10 - Shrine hopping in Kyoto: Visited Fushimi Inari and Kiyomizu Dera besides many others
Day 11 - Traveled to Nara which is famous for the free-roaming wild deers, and the Todai-ji temple with a great Buddha statue.
Day 12 - Started morning at Nishiki Market, and visited some other shrines of Kyoto like Nanzen-ji or the Heian Shrine. Then Closed the day by visiting Fushimi Inari during the evening.
Day 13 - Traveled to Osaka where we visited the Castle, had Okonomiyaki in Shinsekai and then explored Dotonbori.
Day 14 - Traveled back to Tokyo, then visited the Gundam Statue and Gundam base in Odaiba
Day 15 - Visited Kawagoe in the outskirts and famous for its old Edo style streets.
Day 16 - Traveled to Nikko to visit the shrines from the Unesco World Heritage list.
Day 17 - Spent the day shopping and then headed up to the Tokyo Skytree.
Day 18 - Explored the outskirts at Shibamata for a chill and laid back experience.
