The Italian ambassador to Greece had entered the house of Greek Prime Minister Ioannis Metaxas. An unacceptable ultimatum in hand, he demanded subjugation under Italian rule. Refusal would mean war. An ardent Ochi! was the answer. No, the Greek would not bow to fascist demands, but instead fight for the defense of their country and their honor. What followed were months of bitter fighting in the harsh environment of Epirus and the Macedonian mountains.
    The Greco-Italian War.

If you happened to miss it in the description, here's the link to the World War Two episode Indy mentions:
"Mussolini plays Hitler like a fiddle - The Invasion of Greece"
    czcams.com/video/GYznPPJutZ8/video.html
And if you're interested in the rise of fascism and Benito Mussolini in Italy during the interwar period, TimeGhost History Channel has an episode that touches on just that in their series "Between 2 Wars", of course narrated by Indy:
"Rise of Fascism and Mussolini's March on Rome"

@@johnpsathakis1964 Troy was not Greek according to the Iliad. They spoke different languages (Homer specifically mentions that they sounded like bleating sheep); Hector's battle cry was "Trojans, Lykians, and Dardanians!" and the city was in modern day Turkey. Assuming you believe the Iliad, which I have to assume you do, given it's the Aeneid (which took the character of Aeneas from the Iliad) which ties the founding of Rome to Troy. Additionally the Trojans are considered as Western Anatolian, not Greek. Go far enough back they have a common ancestor but the Trojan War was not a civil war which would require them to be in some way under the same political or military system prior to war breaking out which is definitely not the case.

Fun fact: my grandfather was conscripted in the italian army (Alpini regiment) for the invasion of Albania and then Greece.
I never met him, he died before I was born. But trough my mom I was told that he sometimes shared stories about the war, but usually never talked about it and was an argument that in the family was known to better be avoided as they said he had been ruined by the experience “il giovanotto rovinato dalla guerra”. Everyone always told me that the worst stories were from the time he was made a POW in Athens after italy switched sides. The German army took him and sent him in a POW camp in west Germany to work in the railway system, he always said that he was one of the lucky ones “sometimes a potato fell off the train, so I could eat that day”

That is true. My grandpa fought in Albania and then he was in the resistance. But he always talked to me about the war and he was really good at describing the events. When the Italians capitulated, the Greeks (both the resistance and the population) tried their best to hide the Italian soldiers, as Germans were slaughtering them like cattle. They were hiding them in the mountains, waiting for getaway boats or masked them as family members (easy to do as we look really alike). Greek POWs in Italy were treated well, and Italian POW in Greece were treated well. After Italy's capitulation, both groups were sent to concentration camps where most of them perished.

70-75% of the soldiers were without RIFLES.
    Uniform shortages
    Boot shortages
Low ammunition (by the time of 6 april, the german invasion. the army of epirus which is 180k men had only ammunition for 1 week). and the army of macedonia-thrace ( 65-67k men) had no anti-air no anti-tank no artillery (only mortars in THE FORTS).

My great grandfather lived on Cephalonia which is an island that is apart of Greece. He didn't fight against the Italians or the initial German invasion. But when the island got invaded, he fought in the Greek resistance against the Nazis. His daughter (my grandmother) was born during this time. He fought hard, and learned how to fight well. This suited him later during the Greco civil war. Only he didn't fight for political ideals, he fought to protect his family and friends. If anyone came close to his house or any of his friend's house, he shot them on site, no questions asked. He would plant himself on a hill that behind their house or blend into the shadows of the allys. He was a tough as nails man who loved his family and friends, doing what he could to protect them. His life was tragically cut short by an earthquake that rocked the island in 1953. This is what brought my grandmother and her older brother to America. I am glad Sabaton history covered this forgotten part of history. Thank you
