Listen. You’re not too old to start anything. I’m 38, I work at one of the places he named and just getting start. Just got my high level clearance and currently transitioning into Cyber and studying for my security +. Oh and I’m in the GovTech blueprint academy. 💯💯🥶
Let's go Eddy!!
Congratulations! How did you earn security clearance at 30+? Heard cybersecurity is being outsourced overseas.
@@Ricocasetook a federal law enforcement job.
@@eddyb5592 if not security, which gov entry roles offer security clearance?
@@eddyb5592can you please provide me more information on cyber security?
Stay blessed Simone and understand this…for many people that look like us, it’s hard to believe the truth of our success. After being manipulated so many times by others we tend be too unforgiving. And sadly it’s not us doing the manipulation. The worst part of being truthful is when (YOU ) look like the truth and people still don’t listen to you..not even through testimonies. I look forward to learning from you and pushing you towards that millionaire status!!
Really beneficial interview. Great motivation. Sometimes I kick myself because I enrolled at capital in 97' for computer info systems & was interested in what was computer forensics at the time. Moved to Philly, screwed around & didn't finish college. Over the last 6 yrs I've made over 100k $ as a maintenance tech/ welder in nuclear power plants. However, I've always been interested in Cyber and here I am at 40 + yrs old in a Cyber boot camp trying to break in the industry . I could have been a vet in the industry by now. I literally remember sitting in visual basic & windows 95 classes🤦🏾♂️. God has a plan for us all and my path has been long & obstacle filled but I'm gonna make it. My drive & zeal for networking & Cyber won't let me quit. Sorry for the long post, thanks for the motivation. ✊🏾💯
I will say this. I'm 42, with over 17 years of IT experience. Every time I see one of Symone's videos, I smile. I said many years ago tech is a gateway for people of color to make a great career. I admire all y'all, & wish y'all all the best on your endeavors. BTW your never too old. Im getting my AWS DevOps. See y'all in the cloud 🫡✌🏾
"People of color"....what does that even mean?.......I'm black...
Currently studying for my sec+ i'm 40 yrs old . And i honestly thought i was too old to get into the space. I come from a tech background but never thought to pursue a career because i felt i missed my shot. I really appreciate this channel
Welcome to the party!🎉
Go for it. 37 now, just passed my Security+ this march
My bad family. I’m 49. For some unknown reason I deducted 10 years.
I couple of people pointed out the math ain't mathing😂
Funny enough I never remember my age and have to ask my wife for it.
A mindset attributed to Einstein says you don’t have to remember things you can easily look up.
LOL no biggie I appreciate you dropping this wisdom on us Marcus
I was wondering about that 🤣😆
I legit was about to comment about this. Thanks!
I was cracking up! I was like, “he’s super smart but his math ain’t mathing” 😂😂
Lol. I was just about to comment about that
Family, you're already crushed in IT world. I'm already in shape but a game changer for me especially being behind a keyboard all day is a walking desk.
Awesome! AT 47 I see I have some of the same highlights as him including working with Cisco around 2002. Great interview!
Yo. This guy is so damn smart he probably did join the air force at 8 years old.
😁😁😁 Right!!
LOL Marcus is the goat man
😂😂😂😂😂
"Don't get complacent" - Marcus was spitting 🔥
Congrats to both of you! Being proud of every show, Simone hasn't gotten old yet!!!
This is an impressive interview. I have family from Marlin, TX. I feel he may have forgotten his age a few times 😊. His wisdom is very appreciated 👍🏾.
Sure did botch my age several times. I’m terrible with remembering ages and names.
Shout out to Marlin 😊
@@MarcusCarey😄😄 It's all good! It was still a powerful discussion.
@@MarcusCarey They use to tell us we were going to end up on Wood street. They always tried to put us in special ed class. It's my hometown but once I left, I never looked back.
@@Don.Stewart Dang you took it back to Wood Street :)
I love the adversity growing up in Marlin taught me.
A prophet is not welcome in their own town.
This was a great episode and he was very knowledgeable & straight forward!
Incredible interview. Currently work in Help Desk myself focusing on networking and network security. We can all do this! Keep shooting yo shot! Thank you Beez for continuing to spread these messages.
Hope to see him on here again....thank you to the both of you...
Great video, just finished it. Very inspiring 🔥🔥🔥
Lol no problem Marcus. I'm 36 and i always hesitate when people ask me my age... But that's probably because i completely disregard 22-30. I wasn't doing anything with my life in that time frame lol.
What a wise man, great interview ❤
I’m loving these conversations
Great dialogue, countless takeaways from this one. Thanks!
So dope.. The most inspiring one I’ve listened.. I literally see myself in this guy.
Thank you “Beez”!
Thanks for watching. Make sure you subscribe so you don't miss any other episodes.
Thank you both 💛!
Great Interview Marcus! Marlin, Texas in the house 🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿
Hi symoné, excellent content, I passed a few weeks ago the GCC of google and I'm focused now on security +, so I don't have time for youtube but your channel is of another level, I'll check your videos and take note

Alan Turing = breaking Enigma.
looking forward to finishing my cause by 2026 I took a long route but I know I am heading somewhere am a new immigrant getting to IT in the US wasn't easy I had to make a choice. I have been in IT for more than 6 years back in my home country.
Hello @ BEEZ❤
I have security A+ certification and now I’m studying hard for the Cysa certification. Is it possible that I can get some of your help for one of those tech jobs?
Hi Symone, when will your interview with Jennifer Gaddis drop? 😊
Dang I’m from Pensacola,FL
how do you keep such discipline even after doing everything in the industry ,watching all the way from Kenya ,everyday we learn .
I just have the mindset of there's always more to learn. The more I learn the more I realize how much I don't know. That's what keeps me going fam.
Any recommendations for resume assistance in the gov sector? Thanks
I’d follow the guidelines I mentioned in this interview. Look at the requirements and align your resume to it.
Im a 16 yro junior in highschool with about 12 college credits and I'll have 12 more next school year. I was thinking of going to Georgia Tech for computer science and then pursuing cybersecurity after. But after looking at the required math I've been thinking otherwise because I hate math. Should I bear through the math and go to college or start getting certifactions and try to get an internship next year?
I always tell any that there are no rules. Internships are the most important thing you can do to get a career.
On this interview I mention reverse engineering the requirements for the job roles you are pursuing. So with internships make sure your degree program is appropriate for the internships. Also make sure that the job you want to break into after graduation is aligned with that degree.
Don't worry about the college name brands, although some colleges will get more internship opportunities.
There is also the possibility of you starting a entry level security role and attend college part-time as you pursue your degree.
Again there are no rules and you gotta evaluate the pros and cons of things. Keep moving forward and crushing it, and I'll see you at the top.
How is he 39 but joined the military in 1993 (8:06)
Yeah I heard the same thing, I’m confused too. I’m still listening to it, but that doesn’t make sense
He must mean 2003. Graduated high school in 2003.
My bad 😂. I somehow forgot my age. Add 10 on to that.
1993 ?
What are they saying?? Clip exams?
CLEP exams
CLEP exams
HI
Hey Kazi
Wait! Maybe he is not good at math or Beez is missing an important question. If he is 38 yrs old (born 1985) and joins the military in 1993 (makes him 8 years). He gets out the military in 2002 (makes him 16 years old).
Ok. He's 48 turning 49 years old this year.
LOL.Just add 10 years to my age on everything and it lines up.
Love the analysis.
@MarcusCarey Oh lol. I was confused.
How did he join the military in 93. And you are only 38 or 39 in 2024. Did you go from kindergarten straight to the service?
