This time, we're covering the SWAT-556.
The SWAT is the first burst-fire weapon you'll unlock, at level 10, and Black Ops 2 marks the weapon's first appearance in the Call of Duty series.
The SIG SG 556, as it is known in real life, is a weapon of Swiss origin that was first produced in 1986 and introduced into service in 1990.
It is the US-made version of the SG 551, and in real life is a semi-automatic weapon intended for the civilian market.
The parent design is technically chambered for the Swiss 5.6mm GP 90 round, although this specification is fully interchangeable with the far more common NATO 5.56mm cartridge.
The SWAT name used in-game refers to 'Special Weapons and Tactics' police units, a potential role for this weapon: the change likely made to avert potential licensing or legal issue.
In-game, damage per shot is moderate, but very consistent out to a long range.
You'll usually need 3 body shots to kill, although this drops to 4 shots at an extreme distance.
The SWAT also has a higher-than usual headshot multiplier, which means that you can kill with a single burst at any range - although it is rather unlikely to score three headshots in a single burst.
Equipping the select fire attachment will reduce your ranged damage considerably: you'll generally need 4 shots to kill instead of just 3.
Post-patch, the weapon now has LMG-grade penetration, technically higher than the other assault rifles - but in practical terms, performance through walls is similar to its peers.
Rate of fire is high within the burst - at the equivalent of 940 rounds per minute, a well-placed sequence of shots will quickly down a target.
There is a mandatory delay between your bursts, however - and so your overall maximum rate of fire will be around 500 rounds per minute instead.
Select fire will make your weapon fully-automatic, and as such will let you fire at the full 940 rounds per minute, the same as the Type 25.
When employed as a burst weapon, recoil is very low - with your sights settling during the delay.
Even within the 3 shot burst, kick is relatively mild: it's not uncommon to hit a mid-range target with all three bullets fired, if your aim is true.
Automatic fire via select fire will prove to be less accurate - continuous shooting will lead your aim vertically upwards, making burst fire a better option for longer distances.
Aim time is standard for the assault rifle class, at 250 milliseconds - as is your movement speed, at 95 percent of the maximum base speed.
Magazine capacity is again standard for the SWAT's class, with thirty rounds between reloads.
Extended clip will give you 39 rounds instead of the more usual 40, for a supply more easily divisible by the 3-round-burst.
Reload times are quite bearable, on the more rapid end of assault rifle reloads at 2.09 seconds.
Given the restrained consumption of a burst fire weapon, such reloads seldom prove inconvenient.
The SWAT-556 is an excellent weapon within its mid-to-long range niche, and rewards players able to force engagements at this range with the potential for high scorestreaks.
With excellent range and relatively low recoil, the SWAT retains good burst lethality out to quite some distance, and even in cases where the first burst fails to kill - the second is equally accurate and quick to follow.
Unfortunately, the burst fire and consistent ranged damage won't serve you well in close quarter gunfights - the SWAT's performance at such ranges is severely lacking.
The weapon's demand for accurate burst placement means lucky hipfire or your secondary is all you can rely on: going toe-to-toe with the SWAT will almost always leave you at a disadvantage.
Still, if you position yourself well and prepare your defences, you can round out these flaws and dominate from afar.
Keep your distance, and patiently bait a trap - lure your enemies into your sights, wait for the perfect moment to strike...

ZenXth It's pretty obvious: The M8A1 exists, so all of the other burst weapons end up being underused. Why would you ever wait the same amount of time to fire one burst that does less damage?
Meloetta Dramatic True that. By the end of the year, I think this gun will be my most used gun, followed by this gun's mere opposite, the Type 25.
I still use it with just select fire. It allows you to usually dominate in medium and long range, but also clean house with the gun's actually decent hip fire with select fire. I actually went on a pretty good 18 kill streak yesterday, even as the game was lagging.

It's a good gun Irl, I own one and have had no complaint except that it came stock with plastic magazines which don't feed the bullets well enough into the gun so I thought I had a shit gun for awhile. Turns out, I just needed metal magazines.

Select fire, suppressor, and reflex (or fast mags). This weapon is incredibly strong in every game mode. I feel as the SWAT-556 is under-rated, but it is one of the best burst rifles, in my opinion.
One of the best burst fire rifles? There’s only 2 lol. But it was underrated, overshadowed by the M8A1

This weapon is overlooked by a lot of people, especially since it's beginning counterpart was horrible. I played a couple games with the SWAT-556, and bear in mind I'm your slightly above average player, and was able to kill it on the field. It's a good weapon, but some of the downsides are bad CQB and average sights, counteracted by a good pistol, preferably a KAP or B23R, and a better sight, respectively.
Not to brag or anything. but 60% of people on COD are above average. You just gotta get comfortable with the weapons you pick up.

After using the Swat for such a long time, I cant use the M8A1 anymore. I feel like the Swat dominates. I go 13-2 in SnD.
I really liked the burst weapons in this game, I don't know if they were statistically the best, but the SWAT-556, the B23r the M8A1 and the Chicom were my favourite weapons

Wow, your speaking is so clear and thorough that the CZcams captions that I accedentially had on is almost perfect to what you're actually speaking.
The delay isn't really that bad, especially since they reduced it a little. If you need to go in close combat, I'd say a laser sight is always needed, stock isn't really necessary but it provides insurance. It's just nice knowing you're always going to drop someone in 3 shots which isn't hard to get. It's kind of like the MW2 Famas except cooler.
I suck with this gun but it is just so fun to use it.
Here’s a tip for you then: try using cover more often, attacking from one end of an area to another will help force the area where it has the advantage

I have been wary of people that cover things on Call of Duty. Yet XboxAhoy does it a professional fashion, yet seems very relaxed at the same time.

I like using this gun because tryhards don't use. With select fire and decent enough connection you can compete with assholes using the scar h or AN94 in my opinion. And I like where the emblem sits, oh and it looks awesome in diamond

Stu, I spent one long sunday afternoon with this gun, I found it altogether unwieldy at first, it felt very awkward, however after a few hours as I became more familiar with it I found it to be elegant and uncomplicated...love this gun.
This gun was so understated if you mastered the swat it was one of the best weapons in this game, miss playing this game so long ago

Swat 556 is my favourite AR and the tac 45 is my favourite pistol (these two will always be my favourite two guns of bo2)
I love this weapon! good at certain distances, it's controllable, and very reliable in my book
I liked this gun when the game first came out, but it was tweaked so much over the game's life that isn't close to what it was at first and I can't stand that. They could've completely scrapped the gun from in-game files and replaced it with something else and that would've taken less effort. I also can't stand when people run full auto on this thing. Seriously people, if it's a burst weapon by default, then it is MEANT to be a burst weapon. It becomes an M27 with more recoil, therefore you are screwing yourselves over when you do this. Why purposely weaken yourself like that anyway?
Some people like collecting diamond weapons, like me for example.
If you want a diamond weapon, you are forced to gold every weapon in class.
So if you want diamond assault rifles, you also have to play with SWAT.
Some people are not doing well with burst-firing weapons (at least not here, on PC) but they need to get through that gun, so they install the Selective fire to make it easier.
its nothing like m27...m27 takes 5 shots to kill and has less recoil automatic
Jake Holland I know this is an old game and old comment but the full auto can be switched when going for long range shot but if flanked, switch for full auto that's what it is made for. My class is Reflex, Select fire and quick draw. The primary gun fire and for perks I use perk 2 greed scavenger, toughness, lightweight, and dexterity. If you don't want perk 2 greed then I recommend you use C4 and E.M.P

For closer ranges use attachments: Grip, Quick draw and select fire. Use the thing that gives you 3 attachments

this thing is an absolute piece of shit. worst gun I've ever used and i was so happy when i was done presteiging it. rate of fire is so damn slow like why would you ever want to use this. the delay is so long between bursts and is very hard to hit a moving target that way. i HATE HATE HATE this gun. why you would ever use this rather then the m8a1 is a huge wonder to me.

My class with the Swat has a few slight changes but I use a class very similar to your build.

My counter sniper class is the FAL with Grip, quick draw and Target finder. It proves EXTREMELY useful on hardcore game modes. It totes a near 1 hit kill and with the attachments adding to it's range it is more than capable of taking the place of a sniper rifle if you aren't willing to dedicate an entire class to a dedicated long range rifle.
I like using the Hybrid Scope on this, reflex sight for closer ranges, and ACOG for longer sight lines.

I found that a laser sight attached to the weapon will allow somewhat reliable hipfire performance. When I get caught in a close quarters battle, I can usually just spray from the hip and land 4/6 shots (from 2 bursts)

my swat 556 set up when it comes to the gun itself will always be select fire, and grip. be able to compete with more aggressive play types is a must for me, so im able to do good at both close and long range with a single weapon.
It's a great gun for long range kills. So far, I love this gun. The attachments I use include QuickDraw, surpressor and/or fmj.
Love the build, I might change the ACOG/EOTech for the hybrid sight so I can have both the long range and mid range effectiveness.

Hey XBOXAHOY, I love the series, but where did "behind the lines" go. I love the nononsence, true gun review and information. You made the FN FAL episode with very unique film techniques and presented the information very well. I hope to see some more episodes in the future when you finish up on the BO2 series.
scrap the target finder and tac insert, replace the target finder w/ extended clip and replace tac insert w/ an emp nade. love that class
My SWAT setup (before I prestieged it) Select Fire, Quickdraw and Stock, its a good setup, you keep the long range attributes and still get the CQC prowess,
I like select fire, foregrip, mms. Select fire makes it full auto, which MELTS at close range, foregrip to reduce recoil, and mms for a clearer sight picture and the ability to see stationary enemies through walls. If the enemy is out of the full auto range, just switch to burst.

It´s one of my favourite weapons in the game. I use the swat it with quickdraw and stock, it´s great for medium to long range encounters but if you practice with it it can be just as good for cqb

@@colo2104 i went ahead and bought it from the xbox store. Its still going semi strong here in north america. Same as you though, sometimes i run into cheaters but for the most part its been ok.
This is my favorite gun. I typically use a suppressor and select fire. I feel like the scope doesn't make it a 3 burst kill but I might try ACOG like he said. Select fire is a good back up if you ever need it.

I took a more aggressive build not to dissimilar to the ksg's: iron sights, reflex or even eo-tech, fast mags and quickdraw. Lightweight and hardline, dex and scavenger. With iron sights, executioner and long barrel for a short range when you are ambushed whilst reloading.

I would recommend select fire, given that burst fire is not good for close range. This weapon is very good with FMJ, Select Fire, and Hybrid Sight. FMJ helps a bit with damage and penetration. Select Fire, as mentioned before, makes it a versatile weapon suitable for any range or map. Finally, Hybrid Sight compliments Select Fire. The 'ACOG mode' is better while using burst at long range, and the 'red dot mode' is fitting with full-auto.
this gun and the Type 25 are my favorite weapons in this game.

Great guide on the SWAT, I found using the Select Fire to be handy.
The type 25 has worse penetration and kicks to the right so you would have to attach FMJ and a grip using 2 points to match the SWAT with select fire using one point (yeah I know a grip does not stop the right kick but the kick itself is effectively a loss of 1 pick ten points) . I tend to use the SMR but am liking the feel of the SWAT and at the end of the day it is all about how the gun works for the individual:)
Came back to this game recently and this gun is beast for me. I use Red dot, fast mags till I unlock extended mag and quick draw. Toughness most. Under perks up to u. Shit is beast.
Swap the Grip with the long barrel. The grip only improves your accuracy by a small amount, while the long barrel will increase your 1-2 hit kill potential, both on hardcore and on core.
