Skorpion EVO - Black Ops 2 Weapon Guide

This time, we're covering the Skorpion EVO.
We first saw this weapon's predecessor, the Skorpion, in COD4 - and it returned in both Black Ops and Modern Warfare 3.
Black Ops 2 marks the modern evolution's first entry, however - where this fully automatic SMG is unlocked at level 46.
The CZ Skorpion Evo 3 A1 is a weapon that originates from the Czech Republic, where it is manufactured by Česká zbrojovka.
It is a compact submachine gun designed to fill a similar role to its predecessor, with an adjustable folding stock for easier handling in confined spaces, and a full complement of Picatinny rails for the addition of optics or accessories.
The design originates from around 2002 as a Slovakian prototype, the Laugo SMG. This design was purchased by CZ, and developed into the EVO 3 design in 2009.
The weapon fires the NATO standard pistol calibre, the 9-by-19 millimetre Parabellum round.
In-game, damage is low: as the Skorpion has no headshot multiplier, you'll always need at least four shots to kill an uninjured opponent.
At a distance, this quickly drops to a minimum of six shots to kill - damage is not the Skorpion's strongest suit, as it deals the lowest per-shot damage in its class.
As with its peers, penetration ability is low.
It is in rate of fire where the Skorpion makes up lost ground: it is the fastest firing automatic weapon, spewing lead at a continuous rate of 1250 rounds per minute.
This is as fast as the Chicom CQB's 3-round burst: and paired with Rapid Fire you'll see a monstrous 1893 rounds per minute dispensed - although this might be overkill, coming at a considerable cost to your ranged effectiveness.
Paired with its SMG-default superior hipfire performance, this weapon is deadly from the hip: the faster rate of fire providing more consistent performance courtesy of sheer volume of fire.
Unaimed shots will prove almost as effective as aiming down your sights, and gives you a reactive edge while taking an aggressive tack - hipfire is definitely the Skorpion's strongest trait.
Recoil is moderate - and, paired with the low ranged damage you will find the Skorpion is not an effective option for use over longer sightlines.
Aiming will allow you to more accurately direct your stream of lead, which can prove useful at the extent of the weapon's reach - and you'll transition to ADS in 200 milliseconds, the SMG default.
Other handling traits are as expected for its class, too - the Skorpion handles well, like any other SMG - and you'll move at 100 percent of the base speed.
Magazine capacity is fairly average, at 32 rounds - although given the rapid consumption you shouldn't be surprised to find yourself reloading very often.
Extended Clip will take your magazine capacity to 42 rounds - and should be a very strong consideration for such a gluttonous weapon.
Thankfully, such frequent reloads shouldn't impair you too much - as reloads are very quick indeed, at just 2 seconds flat.
Embracing a close-range role is undoubtedly the best tactic - trying to wrangle the furious bullet-flinging ability onto longer ranged targets is a futile affair.
The Skorpion is an effective close quarter weapon with the ability to dispense a dizzying amount of fire within a short space of time.
No other automatic weapon fires as quickly by default, with only the burst weapons such as the Chicom and M8A1 briefly touching the Skorpion's output.
This ability to rapidly spew fire, paired with the swift handling traits of an SMG, make for a very consistent close quarters weapon - unlike the slower-firing alternatives, you are less reliant on any one shot finding its mark.
Unfortunately, this rate of fire is balanced with the lowest damage of any weapon on offer - on a per-shot basis, the Skorpion is outmatched by all.
The high output compensates for this, but throws the issue of sustainable supply into the mix - frequent reloads can be problematic, despite their short duration.
It's easy to find yourself left dry mid-firefight, which will leave you exposed to a swift counterattack.
You'll find yourself similarly vulnerable at a long-range, too - moderate recoil and low damage conspiring to make it very difficult to direct an accurate stream of shots at any sort of distance.
Still, with care such sightlines can be avoided, and you'll reap the rewards of the Skorpion's fast and furious performance up close.
This evolved arthropod spares no venom in its output: a fearsome barb poised to attack. Any enemy foolish enough to provoke you...

Lol I did that the other day. It had max damage along with quick reload and scavenger. It fucking chewed threw ammunition faster than a fat guy at a hot dog contest.

Props to Treyarch for making the in-game model of this weapon look just like its real life counterpart, most of the other weapons in this game are too stylized and detailed compared to the real life guns

but the game is set in 2025, it would be far from surprising to see those weapons evolve between now and then. I personally find the fact that the other weapons are a bit redesigned as a quality of the game, making it maybe a bit more believable.

Does anyone else think that this weapon looks kind of... evil? The black paint, red night-sights (or whatever those glowing iron sights are called), that dreadful noise it makes, and just something about its shape kinda creeps me out.

Back in the day, this gun alone proved you didn't need to be good at the game, you just needed to fire more bullets than the enemy. Chuck on Rapid Fire with Extended Mags/Fast Mag, you were almost unstoppable.
Back when Black Ops 2 was the main Call of Duty game; I never thought much of the Skorpion EVO, But now... It's freaking awesome!

Ahoy turned me into a beast in this game! With the right mindset and adaptable playstyle, anyone can become top dog. Skorpion was def my favorite gun. Its completely shreds opponents up close. I even went the extra mile and put fmj, rapid fire and fast mag on my class when i felt like obliterating enemies with a stream of hot led
Fun fact: The Skorpion EVO's in-game fire rate is on par with the real-life German MG42 machine-gun. :)

I love this weapon guide and the other Skorpion weapon guide from BO. its just the final pun that makes both of them so good..
I would use this class set but drop the Laser to have the Ext. Clip, Long Barrel, and FMJ. Because the Skorpion EVO already has excellent hip-fire with or without the attachment, I could afford to be reckless for more power.

That's pretty good, a blend of stealth and speed. I like it.
I found great results equipping quick draw, long barrel, and rapid fire. Usually paired with the 93r. Fast hands, lightweight, and scavenger are a must. Flash bangs and tomahawk for throwables

Really good in hardcore. I actually had fun using it with target finder, grip, and long barrel and used it from a distance.

Rapid fire, extended mags, scavenger, lightweight, extreme conditioning, kap40 extended, toughness= destruction
Rapid fire burns through ammo but scavenger and extended/fast mags help counter it. Why not buff its main strength in rate of fire?

Frenzy Smallz Meant to add long barrel. Recoil is something you'll have to deal with anyway with the skorpion. Grip does nothing. You can go close range powerhouse or short-mid.
Yeah I see so many people using rapid fire and I wonder why because it gives you little benefit. I like to run fast mag grip but to me the grip helps steady the wobble of the sights a little

I love the Skorpion simply because I always overcompensate for recoil on other guns. So as long as I keep the same compensation, I can fire this thing like a laser beam. Burst firing also helps.

I hadn't used this until recently...and it feels surprisingly good in my hands.
I will never be over ur amazing voice..... never....
there's 2 problems with this class
i know you like "Extended clip" but.. if you run out of bullets you left wide open for a kill because of the slow reload animation which is a little slow... which is why i use "Fast Mags" instead of "Extended clip" for a quick reload and get right back into the action
and sure if you have secondary pistol you can use it in case your primary runs out but... what if a enemy caught you during a weapon swap animation? it only takes 1 second for them to ADS and kill you without you fighting back.. which is way "Fast hands" solves that problem weapon swaps immediately in case of a ambush by a enemy
extended clip or fast mags I just switch, and I think quickdraw is more useful and I run toughness not scavenger because I can just pick up a new gun

He does a good job of noting attachments that do notably different things to particular weapons.
Weapons in Black Ops didn't have 16 attachments each either.

try suppressor and fast mag or put primary gun fighter and add lazer
i run fast mags, laser sight, grip. for your perks lightweight, scavenger, dexterity. secondary: any pistol with fast mags or laser sight.
but it does help your recoil a little bit better than no grip at all. it makes the skorpion a bit easier to use, since it has high recoil.
i can notice the difference i think its more than 1% decrease in recoil for the skorpion.

Actually, the Vector is quite effective with select fire, since the the two-round burst helps with recoil management at close range (and also increases the rate of fire). Also, the MSMC and PDW are effective with select fire, as both weapons can kill in three shots up close, giving the potential for a one-burst kill smg.

I use long barrel fast mag and fmj if your recoil control and tracking are on point you can push this gun to the limit in terms of range. For my perks I have lightweight toughness extreme con/tac mask. I use this class in SnD and it works really good for me.

I've been enjoying this gun quite well, my attachments on it are: extended mag(HIGHLY RECOMMENDED), suppressor, and rapid fire. Very good gun for search, using it on dom or tdm isn't much of a good idea unless you have scavenger. The gun shoots fast but when you put rapid fire on it.... it cuts people in half whilst sounding like an animal of a gun.
Avoid the target finder. Go for the red dot. When you flank an opponent, which is often especially with SMG's, go for head shots and resist the urge to simply spray them down.
With weapons with a lot of kick, aim for the upper chest when taking them head on and the kick will send the last few rounds to the enemy's head.
I got to shoot it irl today for the first time, and i have to admit, it was really fun.

He's also doing attachment guide videos and covering all their benefits and detriments in those. He found it rather dull having to say the same thing over and over in the Blops 1 vids when it came to the attachments, since they generally do the same thing no matter what weapon they're attached to. By doing dedicated vids for each attachment, he can focus his weapon vids and cover only the attachments needed for the build or offer unique benefits to a specific weapon.
I have my scorpion with Suppressor, EOTech, and Fast Mags. It is great for medium and close range engagements.
