- This week I fly by helicopter into a cool little stream with my buddy to celebrate his birthday by spending a couple of days exploring some new water and camping out. We found very low water levels and some ULTRA spooky fish to contend with so it was a challenge.
A super cool camp site find and the BEST wilderness meal you could ask for topped the first day off brilliantly!! Part 2 next week....

Alex, I have been a bit under the weather for the last couple of weeks I ended up in the hospital on Friday. This is the first day I have been myself in a good month and a half. This one made my day if not the whole month. What a way to spend the waiting days of summer. Those 500s are my favorite helicopters. That one looks like a 530 E. nice machine.

My favorite episode thus far, that camp was sick! I like seeing that even in remote NZ fish can be hard to catch(I fish lake run rainbows from lake Erie and some days can be tough)

Especially this season as it’s been one of the few that have remained fishable!
How does a place you have to fly in via helicopter get so much pressure?? Is it not more that the low clear water means it doesn't respond well to any pressure?
@@nzadventurer A lot of people have flown in but there are also a lot of people who walk in and chase wilderness fishing. Because of the season we have had that river has come under more pressure than in previous years. But in saying that because of the type of fishing this and this type of river provides they will always have some pressure and they are not always able to handle it so need treating with care.
@@NeilgRichardson ah thanks, makes sense yes so many rivers have been blown out this summer. But on the subject of pressure it's one to think about with the designated fisheries proposal right. I just got back from a backcountry hike in Kahurangi and the only people I met were internationals fishing & hiking

NZ is one of the only places on earth where you can helo in and land near a river spot that “suffers a LOT of pressure”!!!
