While not an S-tier weapon, I think it's cool to see them explore weapons with functionality beyond "bigger red number" and I hope we'll see more interesting support tools in the future.
it would be interesting, but this being the arpg that it is, we all know that anything that doesnt feed into "bigger red number", one way or another or "do mission faster"/"hit more enemies"/"become immortal", will ultimately not be used.

@@silverwar360 being able to charge a warframe's stats +60% isnt useless, it means even if you dump a stat you have an option to charge it back up to being neutral. Or just turbo buff a maxed stat

@@MsTatakaiBasically Tyana’s Pass on Mars (how to get Citrine). It’s way more engaging than regular defense. All you do is run around collecting crystals (for Tyana’s Pass specifically) and you get crystals to get Citrine’s parts for example. Otak in The Nekralisk is how you get her parts.

Its honestly a crime that you cant change the way the book works. Nor is there some type of mechanic for it like octavias manachord. Like instead of throwing electric orbs, you can change the book to have a charged beam or be like the mega buster in megaman. If we want to go wizard then make us go full wizard DE
Since Tomes are a whole weapon subcategory (like Bows and thrown weapons) I wouldn't be surprised if DE adds more Tomes in the future with different mechanics like the ones you mentioned.
I guess we'll eventually get wand, parchment, totens, etc

or have some combo mecanic since i like "to kill with style" *choice* *combo* *weapens* (not the combo conter)
Perfect weapon for when you go with a set up with "Imma just kill everything with my abilities". Hold to shoot and never reload and you get a nice boost to your abilities, be it Strength, efficiency, duration or energy. It's not a killer like Nataruk, but it still does kill, and that is just fine.
The book is very book.
Jokes aside, the new mods need a bit better of a proc mechanic rather than on kill it should be on hit, crit, or status effect.
imo should be assisted kills, like dethcube's energy generator procs
would allow players to guarantee the effect just by tagging an enemy with it

@@molassesman4066 It apparently procs off of any kills as long as you have the book out when they die and you've tagged the target with a few hits. Pets, warframe abilities, allies, any death counts. I've managed to keep it up at a constant 12-14 seconds just spamming the primary fire while other things kill them.
So fun fact, I didn't actually realise at first that the damned tome mods had ranks. I thought their base effect was it. The background was so dark on the mod I didn't see the little dots. Then I saw them in my "Incomplete" list and realised I was being a dumbass.
Why isn’t the book also a throwable or melee imagine the fun you can do with that

The option to have a book as a weapon is great, now it just has to be a good weapon thats worth using
Okay so hidden interaction time! Apparently ability and sentinel kills DO count for canticles if you have a status effect applied by the grimoire on the enemy when they die and you are still holding the grimoire in your hands. Makes it a bit easier to use but is still very clunky
so gas + elect to spread ticks?
DE, make two extra mod slots for Canticles and Invocations and then we'll talk.
The Grimoire works pretty well with caster frames, which makes sense. If you aren't planning on killing things with your weapons, having something for a bit more DPS that *also* buffs you is pretty sweet.
i hope we get skins for amps that turn them into books
As a newer player I have no good secondaries (I’m convinced that without incarnon versions or mega boosted setups that pistols exist as a pretend option of weapon diversity) this book is great. I can leave it on my secondary slot and every 5-10 minutes go “oh yeah this exists” and yeet a slow ball of status effects down a hallway. Then I swap back to a gun that does damage and forget the secondary slot exists for another 10 minutes.
sporelacer is great imo
If you want a good secondary that will easily handle star chart and can work on sorties and the like, kitguns are pretty great. The better kitguns are even SP-viable.
After that, almost every kuva, tenet, and incarnon secondary is absolutely SP viable.
@@samuelemmert5136 my point exactly. I’m pretty new, (in a few hours it’ll be my daily for 71), and I’m just barely MR17. By all means I’m going pretty fast, but to get a secondary that does something beyond giving me something to do if I go down, I need to basically max Fortuna or make sure I to grab an incarnon from circuit. Granted at this point I’ve done those things, it’s just insane to me how TRASH *all* of the early-mid game secondaries are without an investment that you simply can’t make early game or things you can’t access.
The knell is a decent enough secondary if you can land your crits while keeping your movement fluid. You won’t wipe an entire room in one click, but you will take down enemies far above what you feel should be possible with a secondary.

The tome mods should just be built into the weapon
it's actually pretty cracked on 14-corrosive stack Saryn. gives her lots of energy, has no downtime, and if you spec corrosive and have a good build it just shreds enemies too (also gets to full strip). doesn't need punchthrough to easily spore -> spread on a crowd either cuz that's your cue to alt-fire.

Honestly, change up the Canticle for assist kills and like you have probably the best support weapon. Like make it like Gyre's Cathod Grace extension and you have a weapon that supports the whole team extremely well without you having to be the DPS.
The book is the only reason why i play around with secondary now

The best frame to use this with is Zephyr. Tornadoes let you charge the gauge faster, Turbulence lets the alt fire move faster and farther, and the force electricity synergizes well with her kit. And that's without taking the fancy mods into acount

i'm glad it's a weapon with a unique usecase (buffing your warframe) instead of just being another killing weapon, because another killing weapon either 1. power creeps the current meta or 2. isn't worth using over the current meta.
You'll say you're glad it isn't power creep the same update they gave us a mod that gives 90% Strength to a Warframe's 4.

Precision Intensify hasn't power-crept out Umbral Intensify because you can only equip one at a time and Umbral will buff your entire kit while Precision Intensify will only buff your fourth.
For warframes like Qorvex, Precision is a real consideration because strength isn't massively relevant on lots of the other pieces of his kit except his beam. For warframes like Rhino, Precision would do nothing for his iron skin and roar which is where strength is most relevant.
This is awesome. It is making players THINK about the game. It is creating REAL CONSIDERATIONS, trade-offs, sidegrades. This is exactly the kind of healthy expansion the game needs.

Tbh, I think the best (least intrusive) way to build the book is with Invocation buffs. The meter fills itself passively, so you don’t need to preach a chapter from the Book of Mormon just to trigger a buff (though praising the lord certainly makes him more willing to grant his blessings). Just continue your holy crusade and alt-fire the book when you want a bit more oomph.

Ive been using corrosive armour strip with guass. Ive been having a blast with it and if fucks even in endurance runs. And switching to gass electric on warframes with grouping abilities works wonders aswell.
I'm ngl, I'm just happy we got a new weapon type.

I I built mine as a primer and utility. I have triple status effect and the ability strength invocation.
I do wish the book had more dps but I still really like it for its thematics, and I tend to like caster frames so using it as my main weapon for support and then focusing more on optimizing my frames abilities is more my style anyways

I think with some updating the book can be awesome but i dont think some items should take up a secendary slot there should be a slot seperate for support items to equip

I appreciate that it's more creative than what I'd do (I would _literally_ just add in another revolver.) but it doesn't feel that special. If it wasn't a book there'd be damn near nothing to say about it.
I am not sure if it is a bug or not, but if you kill an enemy when they are taking damage from the alt fire through any means then it still procs canticle mods

Grimoire’s energy buff is very nice, because i’m broke, have no friends, and suck at min/maxing, and therefore have no arcane energize.
Listen grimoire +spear gun it could be the first primary to fire with a secondary buffing boths damage
Like if you have a spear gun (scourge) it’s alt fire would add to the grimoire and vice versa mods would not stack but pool to both weapons making room for fun hopefully.

The book has an actual gimmick? I just modded mine for high damage & fire rate, and went around clensing heratics with the good word of the Church of W+M1. You're telling me this rag can do more than just let me throw around radioactive explosions like candy?

It's sad cuz they could have made the book good but they just didn't want to create an overpowered weapon. Here's hoping we get a new book soon or at least a buff.
The pen may be mightier than the sword. But that is because it has a future that can be something while the sword is already just a sword. The book however has none of the edge of a sword and already sucks.

Infinite ammo, you can get real fast firerate, even fasta with wisp mote, now instead of a secundary shotgun like the detron or bronco and a primary assault rifle that was my usual loadout I can grab a primary shotgun or sniper and use the book to replace a braton

The Grimoire, while cool in name, but not in execution. With pre-steel-path mods, it sucks. I get it’s a secondary but daaamn it is not good. It works. It makes things hard, but it works. Sad
This has to be one of the worst quests theyve dropped in a while. Totally mindless with characters you just dont care about. All to grind and level up another Syndicate. They need to be careful becuase they already have a very fatigued playerbase. The grimoire is in the secondary, and it performs like one. Secondaries are not supposed to be used as primaries in Warframe.
I didn't come to warframe to roleplay a nerd reading from a fucking book. We have orbital lazers and pistol sized microwaves that put out 15 quintillion heat procs / second, why would I use a book?
Because knowledge is power.
Simple: If noone uses it, itll get buffed.
