Leitung: James O'Donnell (Organist and Master of the Choristers, Westminster Abbey)

TEXT
O Lord, thou hast searched me out, and known me :
thou knowest my down-sitting, and mine up-rising;
thou understandest my thoughts long before.
Thou art about my path, and about my bed :
and spiest out all my ways.
For lo, there is not a word in my tongue :
but thou, O Lord, knowest it altogether.
Thou hast fashioned me behind and before :
and laid thine hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful and excellent for me :
I cannot attain unto it.
Whither shall I go then from thy Spirit :
or whither shall I go then from thy presence?
If I climb up into heaven, thou art there :
if I go down to hell, thou art there also.
If I take the wings of the morning :
and remain in the uttermost parts of the sea;
even there also shall thy hand lead me :
and thy right hand shall hold me.
If I say, Peradventure the darkness shall cover me :
then shall my night be turned to day.
Yea, the darkness is no darkness with thee,
but the night is as clear as the day :
the darkness and light to thee are both alike.
For my reins are thine :
thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.
I will give thanks unto thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made :
marvellous are thy works, and that my soul knoweth right well.
My bones are not hid from thee :
though I be made secretly, and fashioned beneath in the earth.
Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect :
and in thy book were all my members written;
which day by day were fashioned :
when as yet there was none of them.
How dear are thy counsels unto me, O God :
O how great is the sum of them!
If I tell them, they are more in number than the sand :
when I wake up I am present with thee.
Try me, O God, and seek the ground of my heart :
prove me, and examine my thoughts.
Look well if there be any way of wickedness in me :
and lead me in the way everlasting.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen
(Psalm 139: 1-18, 23-end)

Possibly one of the most beautiful renditions of this lovely Psalm you'll ever hear. It sings to your soul.
Goes straight into your heart, regardless of your faith or non-faith.
Amen and Amen again.
Because its Anglican Chant. ❤️❤️❤️
Totally and utterly agree.
@@jennim282 Feel free to do so.
00:02 that’s my brother at the end on the right hand side. He was very proud to do this and told me he was about to break out in tears because it was very moving :(
The lad opposite him on the other side of the coffin is from Jersey Channel Island’s they are proud of him here also.
❤
We thank him, I am sure this will forever be Engraved in his heart! What a Great Queen she was , no one will ever be as Great as she was! RIP beloved Queen!! ❤️

Your brother and his fellow guardsmen have done the nation proud throughout the entirety of the services
I'm back yet again to rewatch this. Out of all the moments prior to the march up The Long Walk at Windsor, THIS moment was the most moving for me. Honestly, though I'm not "religious", per se...this rings in my head. One of the most powerful pieces of video ever filmed in my opinion.
Hauntingly beautiful hymn, at once appropriately solemn and majestic! Rest in Peace your Majesty. 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🤍👑🤍🕊🕊🕊
My brother is carrying the coffin on the right hand side at the end. He said it was such a beautiful moment that he was about to cry. RIP in your Majesty! Long live Britain and the new King
@@AM-mv6ro I thank him for his service.
A memory that will be passed down your family forever! 🇬🇧
It's a psalm not a hymn, sung to a chant traditional in the church of England.
@@AM-mv6ro Please thank him from me for his service! All of her late Majesty's pallbearers did an absolutely brilliant job!
@@ds1868 Yes I know, I read that somewhere else but I'm still calling it a hymn. It's not a huge deal, and honestly most people don't care. 🤷🏼♀️
The diction from the choir is just remarkable. Crystal clear.

Long live the ONLY Queen! 😌🙌
Queen Mary I, Queen Elizabeth I, Queen Mary II, Queen Anne, Queen Victoria
all Queen regnants. so no our late Queen was not the ONLY Queen
ABSOLUTELY MACNIFICENT SINGING OF A WONDERFUL PSALM. WORTHY OF THE LEGACY OF HRH. HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN. RIP.
When I saw them walking QE2 into the Hall and then this canticle broke out I was transfixed! Took me back to 9th grade religion class and Fr. Hickerson pointing out that Psalms was a collection of poetry... RIP from eastern suburbs of L.A., Calif
The very voices of the angels themselves surely spoke through this wonderful choir - the emotion conveyed in this beautiful psalm held us ,the listeners at home and the people in the hall completely spellbound - our wonderful Queen must have closed her eyes listening to this and smiled .
i am Greek i give my Ultimate respect to the Queen.
truly the most memorable choir piece from the entire memorial week. Took me days to find this.
Beautiful singing of psalm 139.
So, so beautiful.
I can't watch this without tearing up. So beautiful and respectful
So majestic, so beautiful, but also breaks my heart, every time I follow Videos of The funeral of HRH Her Majesty The Queen I always wanna cry...
Update: I'm really breaking in tears...I'll learn this Psalm and it's melodies by heart and make it to be my night pray...
A very powerful Psalm 🔥
So beautiful. I have listened to this a couple of times since. Its so comforting.
This is one of my favorite pieces of Scripture, I was so moved to hear it, set so majestically
Beauty beyond and measure.
Just beautiful. Absolutely moving.
Beauty in melody 🥲 it's just heart touching 🙏
@Planktilious, yes,it does! When I listen to the words of the Psalm, at times its Truth overwhelms me.
Beautiful!
Rest easy my Queen. 🇬🇧
what excellent music, performed with fantastic solemnity; heartfelt congratulations for the celebration!
Magnifique
From Psalm 139 verse 4.......
"Even before a word is on my tongue, Lo, O Lord thou knowest it altogether".........
"If I take take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
Even there thy hand shall lead me....NZ.
Absolutely magnificent. My favourite performance over the whole period. Loved the Matheson lady in Edinburgh also.....
Émouvant. 💕
Beautiful hymn
It's a psalm not a hymn.
Beautiful
Love the psalm song
Wonderful melody!
leads us to deep reflection.
please
would the sheet music be possible?
@mauromendesneto7020 It has been published by Encore Publications in the UK.
Angelic singing
richtiggehend meditativ -.-
LINDO HINO.💙🤍
May this be a teaching to all Royalty, that there is one higher than you, yes the Most High YAH, don't let your wealth and opulence hinder you from salvation through Yahshua/Jesus. RIP
The UK is, by law, a Christian monarchy. Our national anthem is GOD save the king. The king pledged himself to be the servant of his people. What more proof do you want?
You'd be doing better if you addressed your comments to your own money-greedy US celeb culture where a person's 'worth' is assessed in how many dollars they have in the bank.
@@gordonsmith8899 I'm British
Does anyone know where we can download THIS version of this beautiful song?
I’m wanting to know the same thing!
The notes of this setting of Psalm 139 are available:

I can’t stop listening to it. Does anyone know which translation it is adapted from? KJV is pretty close but not exact.
It's from the 1662 Book of Common Prayer
@@nickgallagher536
You’re quite right that the BCP is the place to find it, but the translation by Miles Coverdale actually dates beck to 1535 and it was the version adopted by the original Book of Common Prayer of 1549.
The King James Bible (published 1611) translation of the Psalms - fine as it is - did not supplant Coverdale’s version in the final edition of the Prayer Book (1662), and with good reason, as regardless of any religion, denomination, or anything else, Coverdale’s translation (and the BCP as a whole) remain one of the greatest repositories of the English language bar none.
Guten Tag, weiß jemand, ob die Melodie von James O'Donnell selbst geschrieben wurde oder auf Grundlage einer, und wenn ja, welcher Bearbeitung, entstanden ist? Vielen Dank
Good day, does maybe anyone know if this melody was written by James O'Donnel himself or if it was written as an arrangement, and if yes, which one, of another piece? thank you very much
James O’Donnell (b 1961) laut den Informationen aus dem Order of Service: www.royal.uk/order-service-reception-coffin-lying-state-her-majesty-queen
It is Anglican Chant for the Psalms. This is an Anglican Chant by James O'Donnell
Read the Bible y'all. Like really read it.
