As a ex infantry soldier who done all them ceremony duties, the guard would of appreciated that. Just show them some respect, 2 hours in position and they are really soldiers who have deployed to all parts of the world, ie Afghanistan and Iraq in service to the country. Thank you for your your respect.
The eight soldiers from the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards were flown from operational service in Iraq to take part in the queens funeral.

I think these guards deserve our deepest respects. Most of the people disturbing them whilst on duty are idiots.I LOVE watching most days when free and I am from Singapore😊
What a true Gentleman and lady. I have no doubt that was appreciated by the guard. What a beautiful gesture of respect.
Does anyone have a time stamp for the moment? I didn't see it
@@Lynda007-I’m not sure how to do time stamps but at 13:08 they take the photo and like 10 seconds after they do they do the “thank you” gesture towards the guard.
That's what they need RESPECT! Thank you for your service Godbless you all ❤️❤️❤️❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

Dear tourist's, these are active working members of our British army. These are not actors or a fancy dress parade. They are real soldiers
Most tourist just see the traditional uniform but not what you have to do to get it. I watched a movie about recrutes in the 90's for the Royal Guards. I was realy impressed. Only 30minutes wearing this outfit and standing on guard would be impossible for anyone disrespecting or joking on them.
If they would wear a modern battle dress, people would think a bit different.
You think soldiers anywhere, not capable of the same thing? Lol. They all go through gruelling training dude. The point being made is not about their level of fitness but about how hard it is, just to stay still for prolonged periods - especially with the high energy a soldier - any soldier, would have coursing through their body. OFF TO THE SIDE A MOTHER WAS TEACHING HER YOUNGSTER ABOUT GIVING RESPECT TO THE MILITARY MEN AND WOMEN
A fine display of discipline and precision displayed by members of the Welsh Guards. Never forget that these men are not just on display for tourists. But professional soldiers, many with battlefield experience. They take their guard duties very seriously.
This is all they need, instead of acting ignorant, show them respect. I always love it when people actually show them respect and appreciated.
Low bow and held.
Head bowing - it’s traditional, it’s very respectful and very elegant. It’s a beautiful tradition that conveys so much more meaning than what a handshake could convey.
It is said that the deeper the bow, the deeper is the respect or gratitude shown by a person.
Fifteen-degree bows are used for informal and formal occasions while a thirty-degree angle bow is reserved for very formal times
Coming from my side of the pond I don't really see it that way. Would you mind enlightening me? Respect means a lot to me and a bow could show that but it also says that you're subservient. On the other hand a handshake you look another person in the eyes on equal footing extending the hand that would normally hold a weapon and grasp onto the other person. A lot can be said about the way the other person holds their grip and gives an individual influence over another despite societal roles.
@@williamwhite8416There is nothing subservient about a bow. It is a symbol of the respect and regard the person being bowed to is held by the person bowing. In many cases, particularly in Asian protocols, the bow is returned, so definitely not a sign of subservience. As has been stated, the degree of bow has specific meaning as does the duration. Protocols can be rather esoteric, but in this instance it was a very dignified and polite way to honour and thank the Guardsman.
Brilliantly done
Sounded a bit like Dads Army though with one Guard (the butcher) out of time when they stood to attention. Still great to watch though..

Beautiful moment. God bless them and the guards. I think out of all the videos I have watched regarding these guards and beautiful buildings hardly any respect is shown. Such a shame. But when it happens it so warms the heart, especially for the guards and horses too. Would be nice if a rule was brought in that if you don’t show respect and gratitude for this privilege you won’t be allowed in. No photos. Nothing.

Old school respect
They need a fence like that in front of where the horses are to keep the people back and away from the horses and guards
The horses and Guardsmen must be able to be mobile at a moment's notice. No time to open a gate.
People, guards are not on display for you all to take pictures of them with yourselves in them for stupid selfies. They are working. Horrible people pestering guards instead of minding your own businesses and leaving them all alone.

I often wonder if these people look in the mirror and see what they look like before leaving home.
When there were a lot more branches of the guards before a lot of mergers you could always tell what guards they were by the formation of the buttons.
You still can, the only merges you talk about are when battalions are merged, there are still 5 regiments of foot guards, Grenadier Coldstream Scots Welsh and Irish and the buttons and plumes are all different between them.
Yeah, the regiments are still the same. There's too much history, tradition and battle honours for the powers-that-be to start messing with the Guard's regimental organisation. I remember the uproar when it was suggested that the Parachute Regiment and The Royal Marines should be amalgamated into one individual "commando" regiment and they haven't got the centuries of history that the Guards have. Regular regiments of the line get merged all the time but in this case I think the government know enough to leave well alone.
No se si alguien lo ha notado o lo ha dicho, pero estos guardias deben estar entrar las personas mas fotografiadas del mundo. Mis respeto por mantener una tradición tan importante.
Some years ago, while visiting Britain, the friends I stayed with took me to a pub where we met up with one of their friends. He was a member of the Grenadier Guarda whose current assignment was a s a ceremonial guard at The Tower of London. Because the guards are in such close proximity to tourists, I asked him who were the best and worst tourists. He replied, "Canadians and Japanese are the best. They're quiet, polite and respectful." He added, 'the worst are Americans. For the most part, they are rude, arrogant, loud, demanding and very disrespectful." Just to confirm, a few days later, I was at the Science Museum and asked a security guard the same question. He echoed what the other person told me. He said, "oh that's an easy question sir. American visitors are almost always awful. They're very rude and loud. As for the best, "Canadians and Scandanavian visitors are nice people."
Canadian here, ex 35 year Air Force. Thank you for saying that we're polite. Most of us think that way. We're probably the only citizens in the world who, if YOU bump into us, we'll say, "I'm sorry."
That rind of tradition hiddens the tears of the autochthonous england people.
13:33
of course well done them.... what the officers are saying to the guards, whilst inspecting them,is are you ready for another day of dumb tourist activity......☺🇬🇧🥃
They will be passing on a password/code, which is then given to the Guards who have just come on duty. This changes everyday (I think)
👍👍 ❤️

What a true Gentlemen. I can see they are people from a different country trying to show others to be respectful to these guards. They aren't there for show, They are here to serve for King and Country. (hint) 00:00 Is that yellow stuff sick?
They must have really long heads 😮 I wonder if they have a special machine to make it into that shape 🤔
7.58 the officetr would not be happy having to lift the barrier himself
They do have patience of a saint, because I want to go stand where the horses standing, but I don't want horse there
There are many ceremonial units within the British military who perform duties for the Monarch. If war were to break out. These units will leave these duties an and join their fellow service members in what ever the cause is. The US military is very similiar to the B ritish.
Imagine if history had been different, we might very well still be seeing this in Dublin Castle or sites currently owned by the Irish Free State government in my native Republic of Ireland - looking at the current state of our country now, perhaps we would have been better off remaining under British rule, as living 21 years in the U.K., I despair at the incompetence and mismanagement of our country’s leaders back home since 1922 right up to the present day
Yes, if only our various governments hadn't treated the Irish SO bloody badly in the past - especially in light of the massive contribution made by those brave Irish lads to the British Army - things may well have been different. Talk about 'short-sightedness'!
I can’t help but notice all of the mindless tourists shooting photos with their phones held in portrait mode, getting just ⅓ of an image they could be getting had they held their phones in horizontal position like was done by the individual who shot this video.
I missed it!
It saddens me to see people look upon these professional soldiers as they would a disney attraction.
Can someone explain who are the guards with the red clothing
@martyzink6273 thanks
There are diff regiments of guards one way to tell is the Busby plume colour or none ie:-
Grenadier white L Side
Coldstream Red R Side
Scots None
Irish Blue R Side
Welsh White & Green L Side
These particular Guards are Welsh Guards, the youngest of the five regiments of foot guards. You can tell the regiments apart by various details on their uniforms. For example the spacing of the buttons on their tunics.
Single spacing, Grenadiers
In twos,Coldstream
In threes, Scots
In fours, Irish
In fives, Welsh
They also have different insignia on their collars as well as plumes in their bearskins ( or not, as in the Scots Guards) . As I understand it the placing of the plume shows where the regiment would have been historically in line of battle . The Scots have no plume as they would have been in the middle. 🏴🇬🇧
@@cathyb46 Its actually a Bearskin, Guardsman will take offence to having their Bearskin referred to as a busby . Busbys are worn by some cavalry regiments and some artillery.
@@margaretoconnor3687 spot on, as you said plume placing denotes order of the regiment in battle as it would have been. The Grenadiers being the senior regiment are Right of the line and so on.

Бедные медведи сколько убито ради их шапок
More than what Markles ever did.
Interesting. He employs a Japanese-style bow, and I notice he has the word 'Anime' written on his t-shirt, so could he potentially be drawing from that as inspiration?
It isn't typically how we show respect in the UK, though we do bow we only bow our head (or curtsey) to the monarch and clergymen may bow in church. We do nod our heads to others as a sign of respect or greeting, but we do not typically perform what the Japanese call sai-keirei', a 45 degree bow typically used for those in higher positions than ourselves.
If I were to make a bold assumption; I might assume that this kind chap may be on the spectrum, and he repeated what he saw on anime as he judged it to be a 'sign of respect' and defaulted to that gesture. I only assume this because of the way the members of his party told him to stand, encouraged him to smile, and the sigh of relief once he had finished taking a photograph which I imagine, being in a public place, was rather uncomfortable for him.
I tend to hyper-analyse things, so I thank you if you bothered to read any of this. What a kind, nice and brave chap for doing what he thought was right. If he is a foreign tourist, I encourage him to come back and visit anytime!

These seem to be Coldstream Guards ( white hackle) my grt grt grandfather's was a Corporal in the Coldstream Guards at this same location in 1850.
