Love those newpaper articles at 2:39. Amazing how we look back 50-70 years and see these transformations. I can't even imagine what Vegas looks like in the year 2100!?!?
@@VegasBebe I was hoping to make JR's birthday next week but can't make it and may not make it back to Vegas until next year; the holidays are a possibility.
BRAVO🎉👍👍. Informative & exciting. Fremont still reminds me of old vegas. The mob got jealous that Moulin Rouge was so popular. Sad stuff. Elvis loved Vegas👍😎. The new corporate Strip, turns me off. I was loyal to Flamingo for 20 years & the comps sucked.
Yes, the Mob run Strip casinos didn't like the Moulin Rouge and let it close unlike the struggling Royal Nevada and Dunes. The Corporate Gaming Act of 1967 & 1969 changed Vegas forever, that is the transition between classic Vegas and corporate Vegas.
Technically the Travelodge next to Circus Circus opened in 1958 and the Travelodge building was first built in 1952. So, to be accurate the Tropicana has the oldest "resort rooms" on the Strip and Sahara (1952) would have the second oldest resort rooms, the 14-story Tunis tower opened in 1960 at Sahara. Oldest Strip Resort Rooms: 1957 Tropicana 1960 Sahara (opened in 1952) 1966 Caesars Palace 1968 Circus Circus 1973 MGM Grand/Bally's/Horseshoe 1974 Jockey Club (timeshare condos available as daily rentals) 1975 Marina/MGM Grand west tower
Excellent Video, stills and narrative capturing the chronology of the genesis of the quintessential Vegas evolution. Bravo!
Thank you very much!

I would love to see Vegas 2100 or even Vegas 2075, although for me I would hope parts of Vegas are the same in 2100.
Great video - Love Vegas history.👍
Thank you Kiley.

Great, as always, Sahara must have the second oldest rooms.
