Hello, what about those who are currently pursuing their PG in EEA and want to work in the UK are they required to sit for any of the licensing exams? What is the procedure for them to work in the UK?
Thanks Dr. Ibreez! Could you pleease make a video on highlighting differences between PLAB & UKMLA blueprints?
P.S- have read the content map but you guys break down topics so nicely😊
Sure.
Hello.. In my university, graduation day is conducted 1 month after completion of Internship.. Can I get gmc registration without the mbbs degree certificate but PMQ EPIC verification and certificate of completion of internship?
Assalam aleikum. What if I want to end up as a medical school lecturer as an undergraduate IMG? What requirements would I need to meet? Will I need to sit for licensing exams?
hello
am 5th year medical student, am doing my studies in Romania(EU) I would like to know which exam I should take if I want to do my residency(speciality) in UK? thank you for your answers
Can you please make a video about how to prepare according to new guidelines or are they still the same? If no then please highlight the resources briefly and minimum we would need for the preps.
Sure!
Yes please!!
Hi .
Am final year medical student at Damascus university. Will be graduated in October this year. Am planning to move back to the UK for post graduate speciality training. Could you please advise me where to start and how I do it.
Thanks .
How can we know if the study resources currently used for plab like plabable and plabkeys will be good enough to pass ukmla? Is the content map very different from the plab blueprint?
It is very different. We'd suggest checking out our qbank which will be out soon: ukmla.roadtouk.com
Thanks a bunch Dr. Ibreez!
Is there any link to reading more about the necessity or lackthereof of taking the MLA as a European grad? This is honestly the first time I'm hearing about not having to sit the exam and I'm somewhat taken aback as I'm not sure what my steps now look like. Thank you!
Here you go: www.gmc-uk.org/education/medical-licensing-assessment/plab-and-the-mla
@@RoadToUK but that's for PLAB and not UKMLA
Nothing is a concern except if UKMLA involves basic subjects like USMLE step 1. All the best.
Thank you for alleviating my anxiety 🥹 now can I watch this video peacefully!!
👍
Regarding what we've known so far, UKMLA doesn't involve preclinical subjects?
is Russian internship recognized by GMC?
Other than mcq's...what other resources can we use?same as PLAB?(OXFORD HANDBOOK,etc)?
Yes.
What about the alternative exam route through USMLE?
Is that eligibility affected? You didn’t mention it among the “will I need to take the MLA”
Thanks a bunch!
All the alternative routes will still exist.
IBREEEEZ hi!
I'd be giving Plab 2 next year ...is it going to be different omg? Would UKMLA 2 blue print being different mean the coaching institutes for OSCE would be outdated?
Thanksss in advance! Bless you!
Please see: czcams.com/video/cwr9C1ijvOw/video.html
Is run-through training like in obgyn given in the same hospital or deanery? Or are you shifted every 6 months -1 year?
Depends on the program and deanery.
Although gmc said no different prep woul be needed, The ukmla content map mentions histology, pathology, biochem etc. This makes it like usmle- 1. Am i right?😢
We don't think it will be as extensive.
Hello ! Thank you for a valuable information. Is there any news considering the fact that I’ve already passed plab 1, but I haven’t yet registered for a plab 2… so should I go for plab 2 now or for the new exam? Thank you
I also want to know about it
If you're taking PLAB 2 it would be by the end of 2023. So you still have time.
Nice ❤❤
Thanks 😊
Thank you so soooo much for this amazingly informative, yet concise video. I just have to double check a part of video and be much thankful if you can reply me back, Just to make sure I got it right, So for instance if I graduate from an EU country like Hungary, I'm not required to take UKMLA? and if I should not, then How I can start my work as GP in there? or even apply for an Specialty exam? if you can guide me here, I'd be super grateful🌻🌻🌻
You apply for GMC registration and go from there.
Hello everyone. I have a question. I want to know about ecfmg usmle varification and epic ecfmg varification for gmc. Can I do these two license varification together at same time?
Or I can convert ecfmg usmle varification if I had already into epic ecfmg for gmc? How long it will take? Thanks you
Please reply 🙏
Please see: roadtouk.com/gmc-registration/epic-gmc-registration/
Are there gonna be more dates or places offered to take the UKMLA in comparison with PLAB?
More than likely.
How I can join fallowship in clinical pathology
Hello.
So, the UK graduates have to take the MLA, but the EU graduates don't?
could you please help me?
Yes exactly.
Don't you think that the fact that UK graduates will have to take MLA will affect the seats booking process that's already kinda tough?
Nope. They will have a separate exam setup integrated with their medical school.
So I’m giving the exam in November…I’ll have to follow the PLAB blueprint right?
Yes.
What are the key differences between PLAB and UKMLA content maps?
PLAB's is more vague and not as well organized.
Do you recommend any specific source to study for the MLA?
Yes! Our qbank 😉 ukmla.roadtouk.com
BOOM ! BOOM ! Road to uk is publishing qbank for MLA ! How much lucky i am these days !
We hope you'll find it useful :)
If someone is giving Plab 1 in 2023 and book plab 2 in 2024 will they be giving plab 2 aur ukmla 2?
They'd be taking CPSA.
If I do pass the MLA, how bad is the competition for getting into the ukfp as an img?
There is no separate competition.
Can you update the road to Uk app with the Ukmla questions as well, it’s very helpful so far studying for plab 1
Which app?
If my plab2 result is more than 2years old ;do i need to resist plab2?
If you've not applied for registration, yes.
Hello 👋
You just mentioned that those who graduated from European medical university do not need to take the exam ukmla, can you please provide me, how did you obtained this information.
Thanks ❤
It's on the GMC website!
@@RoadToUK can you please share the link because I couldn't find any
Hello
It will also include basic subjects like usmle step1?
Nope.
Hi . I am taking the November 2023 plab 1 exam . So ,
1) will i be attempting UKMLA 2 after i clear my plab
1?
2) will the UKMLA 2 exam per se be different from
plab 2 ? ( I gathered from the video that UKMLA
1 will be different from plab 1 )
Same questions !
No you will be taking plab 2 only as per the knowledge I have
@@sawbonescadet835 thank you
If you book in 2024, it will be PLAB 2 under CPSA requirements.
@@RoadToUK thank you 😊
What about plab 2 would it remain the same or switched?
Please see: czcams.com/video/7qrzEG_vjQU/video.html
If someone of us books Plab 2 exam and gets the exam date in the start of 2024, will he or she be giving plab 2 according to MLA content map?
🙁
More than likely according to GMC.
Hey Dr! I am soon to be a graduate in 2024 from Ukraine, if God wishes. As far as I know, Ukraine is not yet a part of EU or EEA. But, In 2021, Ukraine was preparing to formally apply for EU membership in 2024, in order to join the European Union in the 2030s. So, does that exempt me from giving UKMLA if ever the membership is approved?
nop
It would be up to GMC.
Hey, I booked my plab for Feb 2024, which means I'll probably be giving UKMLA, how should I prepare?
With our question bank! 😉 ukmla.roadtouk.com
Those taking plab 2 by end of 23 if they fail will they be allowed to complete registration by giving the plab 2 again in 24
Unlikely.
@@RoadToUK I took plab 2 on 15 June 23 can I retake it if I fail it in first attempt will seats be available in early 24 for plab 2
It's 2024, and I wanted to reconfirm if EEA graduates are still exempted from UKMLA... Thanks in advance!
There have been no further updates. As soon as we hear different, we will make a new video :)
@@RoadToUK Thank you so much!
Dear Dr. Ibreez, I was looking for updates on the GMC and UKMLA website and suddenly I can no longer find the clause stating that EEA graduates are exempted from UKMLA. If it still exists, could you please leave a link? Thanks and much appreciated... 🙏🏼
Everyone are required to give the ukmla and there is no longer exemption for EU graduates
@@Aliyatumar7 Is this a new update? Because that's not how it was until past month
This does not affect those who already have GMC Registration through PLAB route but do not have a job in the NHS yet, right?
Nope!
May I ask why you didn't find a job yet ?
Is the UKMLa content map out yet?
Yes.
What about MRCS?? Will there be any difference for MRCS candidates??
This has been discussed.
Do you think there is MLA exam in beginning of 2024
This has been discussed in the video.
from where we can get the bluprint?
GMC website.
Hi, I am an IMG from Pakistan and I have passed PLAB 1 in March 2023 but I am thinking about taking some time to arrange finances for PLAB 2, which could take a year, should I be worried about MLA?
Yes, please tell us
Why would you be worried?
Can a person who has cleared usmle step1 and usmle step2 can apply for uk
Please see: czcams.com/video/VMDxBSVNgZA/video.html
Mam, will the MRCS pathway remain same?
Yes.
Is Russian internship recognized by GMC? please help
Please see: czcams.com/video/DqbNSN6SrVc/video.htmlsi=6kYJszD52EyR36gd
Is the cost of Plab and uk mla the same?
They haven't announced the cost of UKMLA yet.
Hey there everyone! And hello Dr. Ibreez!
Thank you for the updates.
Now this might be a little off the topic of the current video but I really need some guidance.
Some working doctors in the NHS have made videos about entry level job saturation.
They say, that although there are many vacancies available for doctors as the statistics prove, but most are either middle grade level jobs like medicine/surgical training jobs or higher ones like consultants (because doctors leave those posts in a bid to move abroad or some other reason as per their personal circumstances);
FY2 non training jobs and standalone posts are increasingly competitive and unavailable to freshly registered IMGs due to a number of possible reasons:
1. Previously recruited individuals tend to continue on foundation yr training rather than progressing forward.
2. Increasing number of registered doctors every year and relatively lesser number posts available: There about 12000+ medical graduates getting registered a year and only around 2500 posts SHO posts available.
Further, there could be other reasons as well.
My question is:
How true is all of this?
Will it be a waste of money to do PLAB pathway in these times or should I back off?
Please do reply.
Thank you!
This has been discussed previously: czcams.com/video/KWlh5rn8hE0/video.html
@@RoadToUK Yes I have watched that one already. But these are different arguments that I have cited above. Please consider them.
What you've mentioned have no basis, rather they sound like rumors and fear-mongering, which is exactly what that video covered. Standalones shouldn't even be considered in those terms as they are wholly dependent on individual cases and circumstances of current FY1s.
The UK has a huge shortage that has been actively research and discussed in MANY papers by the GMC, RCP, and more. If you for whatever reasons feel it is not worth your while to take this path, that is your decision to make. Ultimately, it means very little what we say or show.
@@RoadToUK no it matters a lot what you say and show. I'm your follower for 2 years now and you have given me a lot of hope and positivity on thinking about pursuing this pathway.
Thank you.
How come uk Graduates are required to take ukmla and not eu graduates or is it till 2025
following
🤷 That's just the way they've decided it will be. It's still currently the rule for them and PLAB as well: czcams.com/video/0CM1fyQCfIM/video.html
@@RoadToUK just to clarify, so EU graduates won't need to complete UKMLA, even after 2025?
I'm in year 13 and my summer exams are coming up, I got 4 rejection from the UK unis (UCL, imperial, King's, and Nottingham ) but I'm taking a gap year and applying abroad to a Italian medical school in Rome (La Sapienza University of Rome) course is in English, degree is recognised by GMC and which means no UKMLA for me 😅.
Amazing! Good luck!
Can we give mrcs without ukmla ?
Yes.
Info regarding mrcem please?
Please see: czcams.com/video/wUC2MMaxtVM/video.html
Alhamdulillah nice to know I will not have to take the dreaded UKMLA 😆
Yay!
eu doctors must take ukmla too. in us, all doctors must take usmle and there is no exception
But there is an exception in the UK for EU/EEA grads.

"and we want to reassure candidates that when we introduce the MLA content map, we will not change the questions currently used, or the standard of the PLAB 1 test. The experience for candidates on the test day will also remain the same, and the introduction of the content map shouldn’t impact any preparation you have already done for the test"
This is an official statement on the official website. You don't need to worry the candidates to sponsor your Q bank !!
There is more to this statement and extra details you've glossed over, but the simplest way for you to understand why we've said what we've said is to compare and contrast the PLAB blueprint and MLA content map yourself. If you feel on comparison that the exams are the same, then you already know how to prepare.
Not to mention the fact that the place you're quoting is an older page to the new MLA information that GMC has recently released. They are constantly updating and changing information, just as they once said MLA would be released in 2022.
@@RoadToUK Thanks for the clarification and sorry for the misunderstanding.
