This is a DIY how-to on troubleshooting & repairing a misfire (misfire OBD codes) on a 2007-2012 4th Gen. Nissan Altima 2.5L 4 cylinder. This will also be practically identical for the 2013-2018 5th Gen. Altima as well. Torque Specs included.

I did the swapping of coils replaced #4 and the other 3 Coils as well as the spark plugs, replaced the O2 upstream sensor also it runs good now ... Check Engine light turned on again and now it has a multiple misfire , the O2 bank 1 sensor 1, and the misfire on coil 4. Yet it's running normal no hiccups?
Its possible you might have something more going on…definitely something that would be hard to troubleshoot over the internet without seeing the car. I would have it diagnosed with a higher end capable scanner and it would probably reveal the route cause in a couple minutes.
Hello, what does misfire mean? My Nissan 2017 started does a jerk type thing when driving or accelerating on yesterday ? Thank you
Engine misfires happen when one of the cylinders does not produce sufficient spark or compression and/or lack of fuel. It can be caused by a faulty spark plug, fuel injector, ignition coil and or worn cylinder. Typically, especially with these cars you will usually get a check engine light when the car is misfiring. Misfires can occur both upon engine startup and even in the middle of engine idling. When a misfire happens, your engine might momentarily stumble, and it may even lose speed (RPMs).

I just replaced a coil on a 2012 altima for the SAME CODES. I swapped 2&3 and the misfire followed the coil. I replaced #3 only, car ran great for one whole day. Misfire returned the next day, this time on #2, #3 has been fine since the coil swap. I thought Oh, it has 170k miles so I am sure they are all on there way out. After swapping #2 and #3 again, this time the misfire did not follow the coil.
WTF.... What are the chances it blows a coil one day and an injector/burnt valve/blown HG the next? There are NO other codes. The misfire is also somewhat intermittent and not constant, only really happens under decent load. Compression test tomorrow and then I guess I will pull the injectors and swap them if comp test is good.
Wow definitely weird! Did you try swapping another coil just to be a thousand percent? Like swap 1 & 2? Let me know what you find though! Definitely curious about this one. Good luck, hopefully nothing serious 🤞
My 2008 is doing same here but I can swap coils and pull and clean spark plugs and it'll run fine for a few minutes then misfire comes back
Launch CRP123 is a good DIY scanner, We have a better Launch scanner, Do you want to test it?
Most definitely!
