This is by far the most detailed video I have seen in a long time. I like to do a lot of my repairs myself. This video is going to save me a lot of money and time. Great job sir. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for the comment. Good luck on your repairs
Thirteen nissan alternate surge up and down when you step on celebrated light and set for the motor master lock up
Adding this to my "Crap I need to do to my wife's Altima" playlist...
Remember...happy wife/happy life lol
I’m only 15 mins in and this is one of the most informative videos I’ve ever seen on CZcams. Fire bro!
Thank you
Yes he has great videos, very helpful
I would label this video "THING'S YOUR DEALER DOESN'T WANT YOU TO KNOW" kudos, you make it easy for most of us. The humor wasn't bad either.
It's in your owner's manual
Where you at? Im bringing my Altima to you
Sell that thing while you can 🤣
@@ahmedmukhtar6961 what
@@ahmedmukhtar6961 I have one it's 90 k mille on it I drive it everywhere do you think they are bad cars ??
@@simba_DIY they got jattco transmissions so unless you have been changing your transmission fluid it will crap out on you
@@simba_DIY they are good cars . I have driven my 2004 Altima to 2,30,000 miles and still running great . So carry on
I cant believe how much you were able to fit into one 23 minute video. I just replaced the serpentine belt and it took me 2 seconds to get off but a good 20 mins to put back on. Everything else I will do this week and seems so straightforward. Thank you for the great help!
You're welcome. Thanks for watching. That belt is a real pita
The one from the store that’s recommended is an 87 inch it’s really an 88 inch and better yet 88.25 inch will fit very nicely
@@themechanic6117 I would like for you to share how you do the transmission fluid replacement on a Nissan altima 2017.
Thanks great video A+
@@RMMR-po5xbdo you have transmission or cvt?
@@swaggerjacker1482 Xtronic CVT.
thanks for replying!
I feel like a mechanic watching this video 🥰
Thank you so much for the video. I worked on cars as a teen but had been letting my wife get her Altima serviced at the dealership now that I'm older. I watched another of your videos and realized I could save 30/40% after cost of occasional new tools needed for various maintenance tasks.
I replaced all rotors and pads, spark plugs and pcv, and am trying to get up the motivation to flush the coolant and change the belt but man I'm tired from work!
Thanks again man.
Nice work! Always great to save money!
You had me for a few seconds @ 8:15 when you said its tradition where you are to put the first jug of antifreeze in upside down. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I'm like what the f*ck?!!!!!!!
😂😂 gotcha !😩😂
Here is a quick list of the things he talked about
Mass Air Flow Sensor
Engine Air Filter
Cabin Air Filter
Spark Plugs
PCV Valve
Antifreeze
Serpentine Belt
Windshield Washer Fluid (Brownie Points)
Break Pads/Fluids
What was used to clean mass air flow sensor and pcv?
Mass air flow cleaner to clean the mass air flow sensor. I didn't clean the PCV , I replaced it
I have a 2010 altima and have done all of these things too,.with the exception of changing and bleeding brake fluid. I need to do that. Pads are not bad at all. I agree, putting on that drive belt is a PIA. Helps If you have someone on top helping. Also, if you are a bigger guy like me, it's also a pia putting in that cabin air filter
Great job. I just learned that I naturally did a full tune up on my 2016 as I saw parts fading in capabilities. Changed my plugs at 76k because a bad O2 sensor made it run rich for 200 miles before I could find a part in oem style with a killer warranty, but half the price. Did a brake fluid flush at 60k because the dealership kept telling me it absorbed 3% water. It was definitely burnt lookin. And I clean my brakes every time I change pads. Since I was a Lyft driver, that was more often than not. I’m at 123k now, and think it’s time for the belt, and potentially cleaning the maf sensor.
I changed my belt around 110k and axles. I had warranty and thankfully got a new transmission. I definitely need to change my spark plugs
I also have a 2016 Altima. Does our model also have a replaceable PVC vlave?
Getting close to 100k. Good thing I found this. Video reminded me of a few things I forgot that needed to be changed. You do good work! 👍
Thank you and good luck with your repairs
superb job. The video is clear, your audio commentary is concise and relevant. A great help. Thanks.
Thank you for the comment
Should be replacing those cabin filters every 15,000-20,000 that’s the air you breath in such a small area
I have a 2013 nissian altima!!! Thank you!!! I am looking to keep it as long as I could ☺️☺️
Thanks for sharing your knowledge, and skills. The cool lounge music towards the end was an added bonus!
I’m scheduled to take my 2013 Nissan Altima for a turn up, but after watching this video. I’m 100 percent certain I can do this myself. Thank you so much for this video.
it's easy I have a 2008 altima plugs and coil packs are right on top of the engine shop wanted to charge me $500 lol it only cost me $200 to do it my self the coil packs are a bit expensive.
@@Astro1554 I was surprised how easy removing the plug and coil was; of course it took me a while to get it done because I was new to the entire process. But I did it, and man I’m proud of myself. I have learned so much from this Channel, it’s unbelievable. 🙏🏾
I'm glad you got it done! 👍💪
@@Astro1554 i ordered a 4-pack of the coil packs off of Amazon for $50 (2009 Nissan Altima)
Don't use thse cheap coil packs off Amazon. Trust me. Definitely don't throw out your old coils. They're better quality than the cheap ones on Amazon. Always buy quality coils if you want your car to run correctly
Damn just reminded me I have to tune up the car , too cold I’ll wait till the spring..
I have a 2015 that I am giving to my daughter and wanted to do these same things.. You are awesome kind sir! Thanks for the help and hard work!
Its been a good car to us. Just keep up with regular maintenance and you should be good 👍 thanks for watching
I have a 16yr old daughter that I am giving my 2013 Altima.
I’m very impressed by this video especially the fact that you pointed out to change a PCV valve most people do not do that and that is why they have expensive gasket changes
The most informative vid I've seen on Altima's. Well done sir! I am now a subscriber.
Thank you
Excellent job thanks for your time explaining everything as it should.
Real nice video with lots of good information and well presented. Just hit 103,000 miles & did a service on my 2016 frontier . Feels like a new truck.
Thanks for watching
First time here! Very informative , easy, and enjoyable to watch 🙏🏼
Thank you for watching and leaving a comment 👍
Thanks for the ℹ️ my man 👍
I’m amazed!! I can do this myself (although I need to buy the tools)!! My ride is at 100k too. Awesome and very informative vid. New subscriber here as well.
The classic trick, to use a short length of hose to thread on a spark plug, is popular. However that same little hose caused the worst mistake I've ever made when fixing cars. Those hoses always have a slight curve to them, so when threading in the plug you lose feedback for whether your plug is going in straight. Yup, I crossthreaded the plug, and needed a helicoil to get myself out of trouble. Never again. When possible I always thread in the plug with a rigid (not wobble) extension, turning backwards at first to feel it drop in to the notch of the matching threads.
If it starts to cross thread while using the hose shouldn't the resistance of the cross thread cause the hose to start slipping on the porcelain? After i use the hose i always put my socket n extension on and continue to turn it by hand to make sure its threaded in correctly. I can see your problem happening if after the hose you went straight for a power tool to quickly run down the plug.
@@themechanic6117 Yes you're right, although I wasn't using power tools. That's the thing about confidence. After the first few months on any job you start to confidently think you know how the world works. Then, through the next decade, experience shows you that life is more complicated. As you say, real pros like you have a way of calmly guiding workflow to avoid most of the worst mistakes. I've seen Japanese mechanics start their day with Zen meditation, trying to achieve the right attitude to cope with time-consuming stress. Some days I seem to spend half my day looking for tools I put down somewhere, ha ha ha.
I know exactly what you mean. Ijust cant get into the habbit of putting tools back after i use them. I wait till i have a pile around me then i cant find what im looking for ! Trying to rush while fixing cars definitely causes problems.ill have a new video coming out in a few days that will show a good example of that.
Just use the plug socket you removed it with......😂😂😂😂😂
My sparkplug socket has a gasket to hold onto the plug
Excellent video. Straight to the point, Extremely informative. Subbed.
Great video best I’ve seen on the Altima
Thank you
Great video...much appreciated...I was like oh ok what's next?!?! Ok he said to pour the coolant into the resivor holding the upside down container. Keeping traditions are essential when maintaining what's mental while using a number 2 pencil....word...thank u for the video
ELMo91SIx
Mine is a 2012. Cabin filter was never changed,, looked like a science project….also,, I had to remove my glove box to change mine…thnx for vid. Good work
You're welcome. Thanks for watching.
TIPS;
• Put down newspapers before you work with fluids because some of the stuff draining out inevitably misses the pan or splashes out and the newspapers will help keep your driveway clean.
• The coolant rervoir comes out easily for better cleaning. Just remove the bolt holding it in up top, disconnect the hose that connects it to the radiator, and then pull the reservoir straight up to remove it. (Although, yours looks like an older generation than mine; might be different).
Somehow I always end up breaking the tab off the bottom of the cabin air filter cover.
Good stuff, love your attention to detail and all the great information. I'm amazed at the number of CZcams Yahoooos that post horrible videos showing half assed work. Some when doing brakes won't even use new hardware and grease, zero preparation, they just slap them back together rusty, not even a mention of pins, slides, et cetera.
Thank you. Yes the jobs have to be done the correct way. Ive seen people use hammers to get brake pads in lol. Thanks for watching
Thankyou so much our cars just need so much that’s awesome you can do it all
You got me with the upside down tradition of the coolent!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😁👍
Major brownie points scored, good work sir👍
Too bad I'm never able to cash in my brownie points 😩😂
I need to do every single thing you just did to my car. I saved the video and like and subscribed for future info.
I like the cabin filter on the 2013 as opposed to my 06 Altima. I change my filter every 6 months cause it looks like yours at 40,000 miles. It's always full of pine tree pollen.
My Altima 2004 has a orange air filter which is washable . I am using it for 2,00,000 kilometers and it is a great product. And it is not a K&N for sure .
Had to leave a comment. I don't know anything about working on cars and this video was perfect and easy to follow. Very very helpful. Thank you.

Clean your engine. Basic, simple and easy. All grease, coolant etc that sticks to the engine are flammable. Good management practices.
Great job buddy! Your videos are getting better and better

Good quality video lot of info about Nissan
Great job Jonathan! That belt looked awkward alright and I think you might start a new coolant pouring trend 👍😂😂😂
If people start pouring coolant like that.... Remember that I did it first 😂
The mech a nic oh absolutely!!! All credit goes to you! 👍🤣🤣🤣

great job, really enjoyed the video
Excellent channel
Great walkthrough man!
Thank you
Lol 😂 This is Sparta! Lol one of my favorite movie… The ant and the fly though
Glad you enjoyed it 🤣👍
Note to all: BRAKE FLUID is typically CORROSIVE, so a shop towel or the like is highly recommended around any brake work to catch any spills. Also, safety glasses for accidental sprays, spurts, etc. and look at ALL immediate responses for eye, hand, and ingestive accidents FIRST; 10 seconds of reading emergency/first aid directions are better done when you are calm and can see. 😅👍
Agreed on the belt. Better to replace BEFORE failure than have what charges the battery, cools the engine, produces power steering, etc. fail on a dark road one night, out of range of a local cell tower, and without the tools to fix it.
Also, carry a quality (ask your significant other) pair of panty hose in the trunk as a backup serpentine belt...it may never get used but, tied tight with a minimal/unobtrusive knot can get you to town if driven at a low rpm carefully. A 1L or like bottle of distilled water, will buy you time on a cooling leak, a roadside kit is always a good idea to keep in the car, zip ties can temporarily fix a busted hose clamp, and don't forget to familiarize with your roadside equipment location/fuse panel before trips, most of which can be stuffed beside that spare tire you remembered to check the pressure of last check of ALL tires. 😉 There are many other great tips, but I'll leave it at that for now.
Otherwise, great and straightforward video. Thanks, and cheers, brother!
Amazing video. Thank you

Great video! How do I completely flush the power steering fluid?
Man your video is pure gold for Altima owners. You got to do the transmission fluid too at 105k
Someone lied to u...the jury is still out on the benefits of a transmission fluid flush...do so at ur own risk

Thanks great video.
I’m so glad I got this car as a certified preowned, I have a 7 year 100,000 mile warranty so I’m not gonna have to worry about the cvt when it goes.
Hopefully you don't have any issues
You probably won't have an issue. Nissan sells millions of these things. Most do just fine. Just change the CVT fluid every 3 years or 30k miles
Best video ever thanks
thanks for posting.
Funny how somebody in the background sound like they was in amazement right on time when he took out the first spark plug with a magnet. 4:13 in the video. Lol.

If it’s not broke don’t fix it. But if you must change out all the hoses you can and it will run great for ever. I got v6 pumping 310 hp and she runs great with
Nice vid....very down to earth. 👍

didn't catch the year of the Altima. Just making sure you got your hoodlatch recall handled if it applies.
Yeah I'm a Nissan tech.
Sometimes I see vids like this and check them to make sure it's not some wannabe wrench chucker thinking they "know" something.
Nice vid. Appreciate the warnings and safety advice too.
It's a 2013. I think it's been to the dealer 2 times for that latch recall...
Question, can I take my 2016 Sentra in to have the passenger airbag recall done? I noticed it acting weird when my sister got in my car. It has 130,700 miles.
I got a 2016 s with ac problems . It doesn't get cold enough. Anybody else have problems
My 2013 starts then dies out, says low fuel, gauge won't move. Yet, I know I had 3/4 tank, due to weather/freeze coming. We had -30 windchill, so I thought the fuel line is frozen. I put 1 bottle of Freeze into the tank...now 3 days later, it still turns over, then sputters out after 10 or 15 seconds...? I can't get to work..aagh! Help..I'm watching videos to try to figure it out...
Could the rear 02 sensor cause this?
Hell Yeah! Good job!
Thank you
Very well explained and demonstrated. Thanks!
