    No matter the technology that shoes possess, waking up and tying them shoe laces is still the ultimate quest.

      @GTE_Channel Před rokem +3

      Exactly, people tend to focus so much on technology, but the most important thing is to go out and run.
      For context: People run and won marathons running barefoot.

    For me, as an average joe runner, the 'supershoes' do work. I ran Marathons in Saucony Endorphin Speed 2, Endorphin Pro 3 and tested the Nike Alphafly v1 on a long run. I won't break world records but I certainly enjoy my Endorphin Pro 3s

    I seem to go fastest in the Nike Vaporfly %2. Followed by Hoka Mach 5, Endorphin Pro 3, Endorphin Speed 3. The differences ARE in the 1-2 % range.
    These all feel amazing and I enjoy the different feel of each.

    The Carbon Fibre plate is hurting my Achilles tendons and hamstring.. Don't have any problems with flexible shoes. Also you need a much better heel lock in the stiffer shoes because the plate push your heels out..

    I got some old school "racing flats" at less than 200g (men's size 43/US9.5), then was gifted two pairs of super/PEBA foam shoes (Saucony Endorphin Speed, Nike Vaporflies). Wanted to love the flats, but just no doubt the "modern" race shoes are wayy gentler on my feet and lower legs. Are they faster? No idea.

    I'd like to try them even though they may not be for me. I have tried a fair amount of cushioning and it's enough and there are shoes with still more cushioning and I'm thinking of moving towards energy return. It's more curiosity and experimentation. I don't really need to run faster or longer but it may be fun to run more efficiently. It would be nice to get the weight down from the max cushion shoes too. One last thing: could we see these things in 4E?

    Summary; supers shoes are designed based on athletes, no so much on average casual runners. Use with discretion. It may do more damage than benefit

    • @emf1775
      @emf1775 Před rokem +2

      That's.... Not a fair summary at all. Where do you gather they may do more harm than benefit?

    For me the recovery is the most important part of the 'plated' shoes. As being 50+ and not so fast anymore, I notice the day after a good run I have significant less muscle strain, than when running on a 'normal' daily trainer. But, I grew up with 'no pain, no gain' :). So, what is better for your performance improvement: doing an old style daily trainer run with muscle strain, or a new style plated run with less muscle strain?

    I might need a gate check. When I’m not running hard. At least that marathon pace but anything slower than that my Achilles hurts. I’ve tried it on pair I have. I’ve tried it on a different other models from friends now I wanna run a fast marathon qualify for Boston La La La. Yeah I’ll just probably deal with it or maybe just grab all my five finger ones to make my leg feel the best anyways just I’m not fast, but they are for everybody at all speeds even an old 62-year-old runner. I might need to check some things.

    Endorphin Pro 3 is good but sadly I think I'm faster and feel better support in On Cloudmonsters. And noticeable wear on the Endorphin Pro 3 after just two practice runs. Think I will be going with the Cloudmonsters for my first half marathon. A bit disappointed that I bought these and not another pair of Cloudmonsters.

    I run 9-10 minute miles usually. I bought a pair of carbon plate running shoes and then returned them after a friend who runs 6-7 minute miles advised me to stick with regular shoes. He said that if you’re not running high speeds, this shoe is going to be uncomfortable. Are there like 😅aluminum plate running shoes for those that just want to get to the finish line without hurting anything?

    • @a.jennings4664
      @a.jennings4664 Před rokem +1

      No aluminium plated shoes that I am aware of😄, but the Soucony Endorphin Speed 2 is a nylon plated shoes that I enjoy running in. I also have a pair of the VaporflyNext %2, but they seem to be a bit 'clunky' and aren't any faster for me than the Speed 2s.

    Obviously, a company that sells shoes is going to come to the conclusion that shoes that cost $250 are better in every aspect than shoes that cost $120. My experience over the last 2 years using "super shoes" is that not only has my gait been compromised by running in these "super" shoes but my times, especially when talking about the 5k and half marathon have been significantly worse when running in plated shoes as opposed to more minimalist low profile shoes or racing flats. Not to mention, the American record holders in the half and full marathons, at least for men, are still held by people who ran long before super shoes. Why aren't American men shattering the American record in these events now that they have high-stack, plated shoes? What we are going to see in the future after we have 10 years of data, is that super shoes comprised the runner over time, increased injury, and long-term had a negative effect on running times.

    For the hobby racer is 4% important? Not to me! 12min/mi marathon pace, who cares. I bought the Metaspeed Sky for $250. I'm sincerely sorry. Great shoe but why buy a race car when you're not a race car driver. The S/E Speed is a much better choice for a plated shoe and much less expensive. Better yet, get the latest ASICS Novoblast. It can do it all in comfort.
