The houses have a lot of potential for investment.
Same suh mi sista. When my mother got her house in Portmore more than 20 years ago it was just 2 bedrooms, one bath and kitchen. Now its all extended and expanded, and looks beautiful.

We need to start a movement called "back to the country" . This tiny land and house living causing much mental issues. City living is painful lol. I love my bush living with my river and fruit trees. But quite frankly , NHT houses looking way better they back in the day.

As far as housing design is concern the NHT is not ready. The quality of their houses in general is very poor.
Very nice. These are duplex with good land space for expansion. The houses that the NHT building these days has more land space than former days and even more than many of the private developments. It is gated too. Good job.

People living very close to their neighbours is not only in Jamaica. Go to the UK, USA, Canada etc. and you will notice the same thing. Once it not a rural area this is the standard. Look at the developments in Portmore since 60s, 70s and there after they were all built this way.

Those cupboards that is installed in that house are no good won't last long at all, be prepared to install new ones in short order.
The kitchen and bathroom has better looking fixtures than the expensive Ruthven Road apartments!
The NHT is a cash cow for government; money is being taken from this agency every year and is used for non-housing purposes. This explains wht the QUALITY of the houses being built by the NHT since the 1970s has NOT gotten any better.
I disagree with you Lancelot. My family got a housing trust house back in 1985/86. The floors weren't finished (we got bare concrete floors), the bathroom didn't have tiles. We didn't get under sink cupboards, no tub, no kitchen cabinets, no closet (we got a space in the wall, where we had to put a curtain to make it a closet. It was simply a shell. Let's not exaggerate and to make things look worse than they are. This property may not be big, but quality-wise, it's way better than what we got in the 80s.

God have mercy, is this call fowl cub, the people them don’t even have a privacy .I bought a house through but, but is off the market I bought I got a land space that could have built three mansion thank god for that, I would never buy none of these to live in, me like the out door to spread out on take cool breeze

For the price point these units are reasonable, here in Canada a Semi-detached home can run you between $450k and $700 depending on the area. Housing is not cheap
They can do better. I saw houses being built in Ghana that are cheaper and far much better. Go to youtube and view houses being built by this developer-Doksimon.
We don't work US or Canadian dollars here so, the pricing and what is given must fit the workforce finances.
NHT has billions of tax payers money. They can offer much better housing solutions. Place looking like bunkers on refugee camps....smh...smh...ash boi

I wish more information was given, like: lot size, interior size, ie. Bedroom, bathroom, also since the limitations of an extended living room, it would have been great to state whether or not persons can add on to the unit. People want to see the possibilities.

It looks like they dash the kitchen at the back of the room. In addition the room is like a tissue box size. That is small. You get more space in a prison cell.

This looks like a parent and adult child living side by side or two siblings living side by side.
I am so upset after seeing this. Is this is what NHT has to offer people who work hard trying to get a roof of their own over their heads? Cheap kitchen cabinetry and counter tops. narrow living room space looks more like a passage way. I think they could have done much floor plan. after all how many persons will be able to expand immediately after approval of ownership.

@@mntstylinonabudget building is expensive..ask yourself can you purchase a two bedroom house on the open market for the exact same amount of money with similar interests rate/ monthly payment?
@@petertownsend2255 building isn't as expensive when you're making thousands of units and maximizing on space and joining the units.... In my opinion the NHT should not add more than 25% interest on each unit. Since they are collecting everyone's money.
Btw you can buy the same units pre-made by the factory for 7 million if I'm not mistaken.
@@mntstylinonabudget with all due respect 7m for the pre made unit plus the land plus the installation costs..I think the NHT is value for money with respect to the cost per unit they provide and the interest rate.....the open market isn't so generous... people living in the UK, Canada, and the US would give an limb to have an organisation like the NHT helping them to get onto the property ladder
@@petertownsend2255 you are forgetting that the mandate for NHT is to build affordable housing for poor people... Not to compete with open market prices.
When you talk about Canada UK US, it's not comparing apples to apples. Jamaica's socioeconomic status is no where near theirs. Millions of dollars every year is taken from the NHT to fund other government projects and if that is the case it means they have money to spare.
