The biggest thing that impressed me was his awareness of the defenders around him. He doesn't scramble and make a run. He gets to a safe zone and looks for a pass. Hey now.... Deebo signed a contract for 3 rush td's which he just got his third, and 300 rush yards. Middle bad, I can agree. But against him running is not intelligent with his bonus payouts. 70 more yards rushing and another payout.
I get what you’re saying but honestly it looked even better than that. Too me it looked like he knew where the safe spot was going to be for the most part. He started 4 years in college and he is used to a new school pro style offense. He’s used to getting the ball out with tall d linemen who want to bat down passes. He looks really really good. Like it was not big deal and he was playing in the back yard with some friend against their parents who knows what’s coming but can’t do anything about it.

Just judging from our last two Super Bowls how the referees manage those games and what penalties they call and what penalties they didn't call,,! SF,s ability to dominate time of possession and move the ball down the field is about running between the tackles. probably not a playoff team if the cant do that. it opens up all the passing lanes and keeps the other D on the field. It comes at a great cost but without it they just another team with a great defence

Even after yesterday it's still totally fair to say more evidence is needed before making any declarations about Purdy. Hes no doubt impressive, but winning at home is a different beast than winning on the road in the playoffs. This Thurs vs Seattle is basically that. I'm cautiously optimistic.
yup thursday is probably gonna be his hardest test yet. short week on the road in seattle of all places, against a divisional opponent with the possibility to clinch a playoff spot.

still too many "what ifs" to give a definitive answer. It depends on which of the 3 remaining games the Eagles lose and which game Dallas loses so that they end up 13-4. If the eagles beat Dallas but lose the other 3, then Eagles win the division and the Vikings get top seed assuming they win out.

When it comes to deebo, you have to utilize him like that. If you don't then you're better off with another receiver. His ability to truck through people because of his size for a receiver is what makes him such a mismatch. It would be like having Allen but telling him to stay in the pocket.
Deebo IS a receiver. He does great against DBs and CBs.... but lets not kid ourselves... there is no way he is bullying any defensive linemen... especially not multiple of them.
As a pure route runner and catcher, he's nowhere close to the best on the team though. McAffrey, Aiyuk, and Jennings all run better routes. McAffrey, Aiyuk, and Kittle have better hands. His magical ability is trucking people over or making them miss, whether it's in the backfield, on a screen, or on in routes, shallow posts, and slants. Turning what would be a tackle for a loss into positive yards, or taking an 8 yard route to the house. His route tree is limited, especially compared to Aiyuk, and he's leading the league in drops.
Now you guys are gonna get a heavy dose of jordan mason. I don’t think the media and league understand how loaded the 49ers are. They are getting lucky with Purdy, but they scouted and drafted him 🤷♂️

However, don't predominantly blame the play calls. Two out of three was THE player's decision. What gets me more agitated is that the Niners defense hits SO HARD, that injure themselves....

49ers were up 21/0 when Deebo got hurt and everything was working. Why risk it? Put in the back up RB if you want to test the inside and C Mac needs a break or use our full back. No good reason to go to Deebo inside or even off tackle. Get the the ball outside or not at all in that situation. Also, as a niners fan I would at least like some objective reporting on the game. The Bus D was decimated. A lot of starters not in the game. We played a pretty clean game but not a 1 penalty game and that’s all that was called. Refs got a lot wrong. The Carlton Davis PI was a bad call. Our guy just fell down. That saved an interception. Next play we score a Td. Which is great but we don’t get that if the interception stands. They missed the obvious PI for Godwin in the endzone. That should have been 1st and goal. Then they missed at least one Roughing the passer for the Bucs. Also the blown coverage on Mike evans touch down saved by a holding call which was the right call but Bucs had help coming. If that tackle doesn’t hold and the help makes it. That’s a touchdown. I’m not trying to be a negative Nancy but the calls went our way tonight. I remembered when the saints and chiefs both beat the Bucs in the regular season and lost in the playoffs/Super Bowl. Feels like a set up where if we play the Bucs in the nfc championship game and go in thinking 35 to 7 we end up losing that game.

The numbers aren't gawdy? All of that was in the first half. He threw for 180 yards and had 3 TDs in the first half as they ran out to a 28-0 lead. He only attempted 3 passes in the 2nd half which were just screens. CMC scored on their 2nd play of the 2nd half to push it to 35-0 and they just ran the ball the rest of the way. 180 yards and 3 TDs in one half is the definition of gawdy. That would be gawdy for any QB in the league, but this is the last pick of the draft playing a top 10 defense.
