Pro-Touring 1969 Camaro Supercharged LT4 Swap Install Video Part 3 - Dyno Time V8 Speed & Resto Shop
This beautiful silver 1969 Camaro Pro-Touring car is no stranger to the V8 Speed and Resto shop. The first time it visited, we disassembled the car and installed Detroit Speed mini tubs, a rear Detroit Speed QUADRALink suspension system with a Currie 9 + rear axle, and then a Detroit Speed subframe and suspension system up front.
    PART 1: • Pro-Touring 1969 Camar...
    PART 2: • Pro-Touring 1969 Camar...
    PART 3: • Pro-Touring 1969 Camar...
We upsized the wheels with some Forgeline wheels wrapped in Toyo Tires, and added oversized Baer brakes actuated by a HydraTech hydraulic brake assist unit. The car drove and handled very well, but the owner wasn’t happy with the aggressive manners of the 540. It was a great street / strip racing engine, but it wasn’t happy doing casual weekend rides and city driving.
He sent us the car with a new mission, keep the power but add some refinement. Make it a little more reliable and less angry without decreasing performance. This was a tall order, but modern technology provided the solution, a Chevrolet LT4 Supercharged V8 engine. A Centerforce DYAD Clutch binds the LT4 to the T56 Magnum 6-speed manual transmission. Follow along as we install the 700 plus horsepower LT4 engine, high-pressure fuel system, dry sump oil system, methanol injection, a C&R cooling system, and all the electronics to make it run.
In this episode, we run the car on the chassis dyno and lay down some great numbers - 670 Horsepower!

Props for not using the smaller sloped first year LT4 supercharger lid like so many builders end up using.

Excellent video, very professional as usual! Nice ride you guys!! That big block sounded pretty mean, I would have had a tough time making the call it pull it out and replace with an LT4!! The LT4 is a very awesome, smooth modern powerplant. Very cool stuff and top-shelf fabrication as usual. V8TV rocks!!

OK, Watched Lou's Change LSA and Protouring LT4, which would be more streetable for a daily driver and you prefer? I am trying to decide which to install in my 67 Camaro.

Amazing builds. One better than the other...
I think I finally found the shop who can build my 69 Camaro the way I visualize.
Was just wondering how much would a full assemble of the panels + prep + paint job cost roughly in your shop? Original 1969 colour with hockey stripes.
    Thank you.

I love this build. This is exactly the build that I would want with the LT4 powerplant. Can you install the TR6060 with rev match in a 1969 Camaro build? www.chevrolet.com/performance/transmissions/tr6060 Interested in having your team do this mod with the LT4

    • @V8TV
      @V8TV  Před 5 lety +1

The TR6060 is only rated by Chevrolet at 420 lb.-ft. of torque, the LT4 makes over 700, so not sure that's the way to go. We're happy to chat with you about ideas! Might be easier to chat, 314.783.8325. Thanks!

@@V8TV I know what it says but they use the transmission in the ZL1 with the LT4 and the SS 1LE ZL1 so go figure.

Nice car but standard transmissions are obsolete, archaic in this day and time, I'll eat it alive on the street with my 750 horsepower 10 speed automatic mustang fireball GT.
