AC, any chance you could show how to by pass the ballast resistor? I’m fitting 1275 motor electric 65 d dizzy into a 76 mini scamp. It used to be 998. It did have a 3ohm coil but I’ve a 0.8 now cos of the dizzy. I’ve got no clue on wiring. Thanks
Use a can of brake cleaner and spray it on the joints with the engine running. if the rpm changes it’s leaking. Revs rise carb is set lean, revs drop fueling set much too rich
@@ACDodd Use it regularly this time of year. Normally park it up when weather turns...(October time) I do add fuel stabiliser then when it's parked up over Winter. I use STA-BIL. I think on your recommendation..
Thank you Sir
Thanks AC for continuing to share the knowledge. Priceless stuff
a before and after drive video example would be wonderful
This is very difficult to achieve.
AC, how do you check if the vacuum advance is working? little suck on the pipe whilst watching the advance on a strobelight?
You got it, however you’ll likely to get fuel in your mouth!!! A vacuum pump is a much healthier way to check!
What should be the target af/r on idle and when revving on a 1098cc with a stage 1 kit
I offer training for those that wish to be able to tune carbs themselves.

Has your scamp got a ballast resistor in the loom?
Hiya AC, thanks for the quick reply. I don’t know if it’s got a ballast resistor in the loom or how to check if it has.
Thanks
@@dominiccooper810ballast wire is white/pink. If the wire that feeds the coil is white you good.
AC, How do you normally detect a leaking intake manifold/carb? What are the symptoms and how can you confirm the leak?

AC, What voltage coil 12v 3A or 8v 1.5 A - on a blasted system ? its not specifically for mini but mgb.
A ballasted system uses a 1.5ohm coil for a 4 cylinder engine.
@@ACDodd Thanks for the reply, so it should have a 12v coil with 1.5 ohm not a 8v coil 1.5 ohm
@@george5022it’s not 8volt anything, it’s a 1.5ohm coil
what leads do you recommend for a 08 coil with pertronix 59d dizzy and bp6 plugs gapped at 35tho and what ohm reading would be acceptable
I use Powerspark 8mm leads having a resistance of typically 1.5 to 2kohms per lead.

How do we get in touch with you and do you come to Lincolnshire?
Send me a pm on Facebook messenger
AC.
Do you recommend fuel stabiliser with every tank of fuel.
I'm running a 1310cc with your RS+ cam and a 45 DCOE Weber
I always use Shell V-power
How long do you leave it between using it?

If you leave it longer than 1 month it needs stabilising. Stabil make a produce called stabil 360 which is designed to be used every fill up.
