    Great interview with Ryan who first played as a junior for Para Hill in Adelaide, Australia where I live. Very interesting insights. Two things I'm really enjoying at this moment. Watching the utter destruction and decimation of the Poms by the Aussie Cricket Team... and following Celtic since Ange became manager.

    Perhaps I am being a little biased as an Aussie but I thought that was one of the best interviews of the season. Great insights into Ange and Tom. You can clearly see the respect that Ryan has for Celtic despite only having played for opposition sides. A great person to get on given he played under Ange at both under 17 and senior national team level, as well as his knowledge of Scottish football.

    • @waggafletcher
      @waggafletcher Před 2 lety +6

      Lots of Aussies supported Celtic long before Ange arrived at Parkhead.
      Aussies love Ange because he strives to lift the standard and standing of the game we love - he does that with style in an often hostile media environment. The 'sokkah v football' fight goes on in Oz, and Ange is the True Believers' knight in shining armour.

    • @glennmaillard5972
      @glennmaillard5972 Před 2 lety +2

      @@waggafletcher I’m Aussie Rules born and bred, but he has what I see loosely speaking as an Aussie Rules mentality when it comes to the game he loves. He plays the game how even Aussie Rules fans want to see all team games played. You know only too well how many, many Aussies love their sport. Doesn’t matter which one. And Ange that true Aussie sports man. Just the man to move beyond the Euro-snobs (Foster, anyone?) who carp and criticise Aussie football and the A-League; only sports people like Ange can grow the game in Australia. Scottish fans only believe in their own tinpot league. That’s what true football fans in Australia need to do, love their own tinpot league - while making Liverpool or Juventus their second team, not their first - and get to A-League games. Celtic is my second football team, Victory my first. (Tiges my AFL team). Nothing wrong with that. Ange is a hero of mine. Nothing wrong with that either. 👍

      @@nathancummings306 I’m born a bred AFL and came to football on my own impulse. I don’t ever feel a need to persuade anyone to come over to a sport I like. I’m not into saying my sport is better than yours. I enjoy what I enjoy. To all their own. I keep seeing idiots trying to tell me this sport is far superior to that. I also see, sadly, plenty of football fans saying how fantastic their sport is, but in the same breath tell me how their local league is crap, and then go watch European football on tv, leaving their local stadiums empty. AFL and NRL fans go to games. Sponsors are attracted where the fans go. AFLand NRL and other sports aren’t football’s problem, it’s own alleged fans are. Get to games and stop bagging your on. Watch the code grow in economic terms. Plenty of people play the game in Australia. That’s not the problem. Its the great Australian football cringe that is football in Australia’s problem. That’s your Les and Foster sooks. Ange is different. He doesn’t bag Australian football, nor other codes, he’s a Carlton man (no one’s perfect), but he he worked hard to make football better. And the sooks made him shrug his shoulders in the end and go somewhere where there is genuine ambition and a can do attitude, not an it’s everyone else’s fault attitude. Japan anyone? They’re doing it and will win a World Cup in time. They have genuine aspirations. And look where Ange is now. Not rocket science. Bums on seats, love your own. That’s the football solution in Oz. And btw football doesn’t have to be The sport in Oz to be successful. AFL and NRL aren’t going anywhere. In our sports nut country, there’s room for football too. 👍

    • @tom4115
      @tom4115 Před rokem +1

      @@glennmaillard5972 It's not an Aussie Rules mentality in particular, rather it's Australian sporting philosophy applied to football. And as such it's little wonder why it's so successful.
