I’ve been to this property! I’ve hiked it’s acres and the land behind it. It’s beautiful! I’m from Arkansas, USA and have visited NZ twice. I know the previous owners of the house and I’m so thrilled to watch as you renovate and make it your own dream home and property! God bless!

Awesome result. I adore the Wairarapa. I lived there for 4 years when I was ten in an amazing homestead and 30 acres of land. As a city girl moving to the country they were some of the happiest years of my life. Now my partner and I live in a beautiful lifestyle property in Mangaroa Valley recreating that beautiful experience.
You've chosen the best country in the world to live. After visiting 70 countries I still love my homeland. Yay you do too!

Really exciting news, congratulations guys! We spent just over four very happy yrs, living in Wgtn, before returning to the UK. The land of the long white cloud is a remarkable and precious place and, as I'm sure you already know, is full of warm, welcoming and incredibly friendly people. (The natural food produce is simply outstanding too!)

My partner and our daughter lived in the house from July-February when we transitioned to NZ from the States in 2016. It has a beautiful soul about the place and is coming to you from our good-hearted friends. It was such a magical place to get to know NZ and for our then one-year-old daughter to settle in. There were lots of long walks to the fairy forest in the back of the valley and to the airport at the top of the hill across the road to enjoy the most glorious sunsets. The native tree by the kids maze in the back yard was planted from a seedling for our daughter during our time there. It holds a special place in our hearts as well, and I wish you the best of luck on your new adventure!

Congratulations guys. Check out Charles Dowding No Dig Gardening. This guy is Mr green thumb personified. He's based in the UK which is similar to NZ so just add 6 months to the dates he says. If your after a pizza in the summer then Mt Holdsworth Pizza is the place to go. It's inland from Masterton which isn't too far if the Ruamanga river or Martinborough is the region I suspect your in. You'll love i in the Wairarapa. It's very hot and sunny in the summer which isn't far away now. The daffodils are out and the Tui's have started checking out the Kowhai trees at my place and that for me is the 1st indication that spring is almost here. Arohanui guys

Congratulations you guys. It's so nice to see you can now settle and pursue your dream. I'm sure you have access to lots of information here in New Zealand on how to start your Homesteading life, but I thought I'd mention some of the people on CZcams that I follow in the UK. Charles Dowding is in England and is an expert in no-dig gardening and may give you some ideas of how to get planting veges on your plot from day one. Bealtaine Cottage with Collette O'Neill is in Ireland and a huge supporter of Permaculture and has done amazing things with her piece of land. And finally Liz Zorab - Byther Farm (and her husband) is in Wales and has just taken on a new property after developing their previous one as a "Homestead". Good luck and happy growing.

Thank you John!! Well the borders here are closed and we’ve done managed isolation once before. Hopefully the situation gets better and the borders open up. Then we will get out and travel again. In the meantime I’ve got a lot of travel guides in the works!

Yay congrats on buying your home in the Wairarapa!! It is VERY beautiful there in the spring and summer. I recommend planting a whole heap of daffodil bulbs as soon as you move in. Also if you’re coming to visit here in Wellington, try taking the train sometime - it is an incredibly relaxing scenic trip that takes you right into the city, much nicer than driving!

Yay!! So beautiful!!! I am soooo excited for you lovebirds!! As I like to think, the universe really does send us exactly what we need- when we need it. I went through my own house hunting roller coaster, and I’m so glad that the other homes I looked at didn’t work out. I love my home that I live in now, and it is the perfect place for me to be at this moment in my life. And, when I look back, so many other opportunities as well that I wanted to work out so badly, but by not getting them, it opened the door for better things ahead! Cheers to new adventures!! I’m looking forward to learning more about perma culture, home renovations, more travels to come, and all the other neat things you fun folks get yourself into! Way to go! You guys dreamed of your future, and now are living the dream!

Also Foley Wines (incidentally listed on the NZ sharemarket) in Martinborough is owned by American Bill Foley who is an owner of the Las Vegas Golden Knights hockey team. Plus yes James Cameron and his wife run an organic farm in the Wairarapa.
