Invincible is an Image Comics Universe series named for its superhero, "Invincible" ("Mark Grayson"). Created by writer Robert Kirkman and artist Cory Walker, Invincible first appeared in Tech Jacket #1 (October 2002), before graduating to his own self-titled regular series in 2003, as the premier title in Image's then-new superhero line.
Invincible is the teenage son of Omni-Man, an extraterrestrial superhero of the Viltrumite race. Invincible inherited his father’s superhuman strength and ability to fly and he has sworn to protect the Earth. He has had trouble adjusting to his newfound powers and coping with the reality of his origins.

I'll just say this by the end of season 2 we all get what we want
Rex really shot up to one of my fav characters anywhere
The college thing for Mark is not about getting a degree or anything like that, it's him maintaining his humanity by doing something very human. He doesn't see himself as a Viltrumite and you can see he rejects it every time someone calls him that. But if all he did was superhero work, he would essentially be living as a Viltrumite. He wants human experiences too to stay connected to his identity
I love how Allen knew Thaedus was a viltrumite the second he ripped off the beard and not the mustache.
I’m seeing a lot of dislike for this season… but I found it to be deep, heartfelt, and gripping in every way.
Imho it lacked a little cohesion compared to the first, but it was still incredibly good and I feel like season 3 is going to absolutely deliver now that they have shed a little narrative weight
I enjoyed season 2 more than season 1 honestly. They are both amazing, but S2 has more consistent animation and is a bit more emotional and character-driven. Can't wait for season 3
All the Amber moments made the season weak abit, but other than that the reat if the season was great
The only dislike I see is people upset about waiting for the second half. Nobody has any actual criticism lol
Tbh I think season 1 finale was better. But season 2 as a whole was way better than season 1
To me Mark attending college is almost a metaphor for the modern college applicant. There's this cultural compulsion to attend college for some reason, when there's tons of valid career paths that don't involve college. This compulsion was even more intense in the early 2000s which is when Invincible was written.
Like many people, Mark has an idea of what "College" is, built up in his head - but that idea can never be truly realized with Mark's life the way it is - maybe not even without his powers.
College is simply an option, one that Mark may realize soon is one of his worst options - but still one motivated by Amber and his mother.

Agreed. I will note that this compulsion goes back to how hard colleges push kids to go to college. I remember having a special class in the computer lab **in 6th grade** about all the cool careers you could have if you went to college. This continued through middle school into high school, with more and more emphasis on college as the only way to make money. Which is obviously not true.
Education should be about personal enrichment, not just about looking good for companies.
Showcasing that King Lizard apparently way much better leader & villain that capable of turning Lizard League from _a joke_ into a *real threat* ~

Not really. If literally a single character on the space mission (any of them) was with Rex and crew the LL would have been mopped up easily.

King Lizard was already the leader, the LL was only active while he was in prison because Supreme Lizard tried to takeover.

29:00 I think you hit the nail on the head. This is a show about growth it's very true to the comics in that way where you don't just assume one person is the same all the way through. You can follow each individual character and witness their growth through the span of 144 issues and it's surprising and refreshing
so refreshing to see a 'superhero' release that acknowledges 'yep these people have a high chance of dying while fighting against other super powerful, yet evil, beings'. so much that it feels okay to have a few individuals who are indeed borderline invincible due to their specific powers.
"look at that level of optimism" I love that Oak said this because they don't have time not to be! they don't have time to worry about what next when they know it won't be promised, they truly live in the moment.
I just wanna say that the voice acting in this series is pretty fucking fantastic. It's a pretty hard gig to be able to act using literally just your voice especially since most communication is non-verbal but yeah just a huge shout out to the actors in this series for being absolutely fantastic.
Rex is such a badass this episode made him one of my favorites in the show

“The college theme” and mark wanting to attend but OBVIOUSLY having bigger responsibilities is such a good plot device.
We as the viewers want him to attend college to interact and grow as a member of society but that’s the thing, He’s already attending education services for a future career path… it’s called The Guardians of the Globe.
I agree partly not about wanting him to go to college, but it's a part of his growth. It's barely been a year since Mark got his powers. He wanted to go to college and experience it with his friend and girlfriend. Catastrophe keeps happening, so he’s still wrapping his head around everything. College is sort of his escape into normalcy, but he has to realize and accept his actual normal, which is protecting Earth. He’s not there yet. His mom wants him to have something for himself, and I think she sees college as that for him.
😆 If you really think about it, he's only been on campus and at like one party, which all got interrupted. His friends are there, so he's basically going to talk to them for character development.

I also want to add the fact that the thraxans having a short lifespan helps the story 2 in my opinion. Because of this they don't have to commit to having this whole other thing continual over minus what they feel is important plot points. And doesn't feel cheap or not thrown out enough because they felt that they gave a good enough reason for everything
about the college stuff with mark, guys don’t forget he’s still pretty young and he wants “normal” stuff in his life too. it’s kinda sad. like he was so excited to finally get the powers, now he’s not so happy to have them. also, his bestfriend and girlfriend attends the same college as him so… ofc he would feel left out : (

Education is super important for folks with superpowers, like Mark here. Sure, having cool abilities is great, but knowing how to use them responsibly? That's where education comes in. Whether it's hitting up college or diving into specialized training, learning the ropes helps heroes like Mark navigate tricky situations.
Think about it: taking ethics classes helps him figure out the right thing to do when things get complicated. And knowing the ins and outs of the law? That keeps him on the right side of justice. Plus, learning how to talk things out diplomatically and understanding stuff like geography and physics? That's like having extra tools in his superhero utility belt.
Staying in the loop with education means Mark can roll with the punches when new challenges pop up. Whether it's keeping up with the latest tech or understanding how society is changing (since he is kinda immortal this well be a problem), staying informed keeps him sharp and ready to tackle whatever comes his way.

Did we not learn that being a superhero does not pay any $$$? Ask falcon how was that loan that got denied. Peter Parker had to get a job, and being a genius in a world of geniuses, won't get you far. There's a reason Spider-Man is called, your friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, he was a kid who got powers late in life and still had a curfew. Most Superheroes don't fight local crime, that are trying to stop world dominance, and planetary invasions. Tony Stark, Black widow, Captain America weren't trying to stop bank robbers or car jackings. what they dealt with was not 24-7..so in the meantime they work jobs, regular jobs. Tony Stark ran his businesses during the day and his inventions were mostly done at his home lab, he also did PR work, , Superman who got his powers as a child , still went to college. Peter Parker gets a job as a photographer,, even though he's a genius. Mark and his team don't get called in for local crimes and they don't happen everyday. Atom Eve's problems started when she left the team and started doing things locally. Their powers are meant to solve Super Villains , not street thugs. So again, super heroes need jobs so they can pay bills, because as we all know...Crime doesn't pay.😀😁😂
In the comics Mark actually gets paid handsomely by the government he gets a lot more than most people in America

But mason, mark was raised human, it’s normal for him to want to do human things, he’s rebelling against his father, he wants to be nothing like him so he embraces the more human aspects of himself and that’s why he wants college so hard, to feel more human and less like a viltrimite
The comic is twice as better? I love the books but the show improved what was already great. The biggest example for me was the whole "Who murdered the guardians" in the 1st season

I know this is a reaction for Invincible but with them reacting to this and now AoT. I would LOVE to watch them do a reaction to a super hero anime like My Hero Academia. It’s such a vast world of superpowers and with all the great and meaningful lessons within the show I truly feel that they’d enjoy it. Whether it’s Sub or Dub. Although I personally would rather them watch it in Dub. So they can be introduced to the incredible performance of Chris Sabat.

Peter Parker is an educated scientist, Bruce Wayne is extensively studied.
Mark Grayson didn't even know how far away Mars is.
A good education beyond the basics can aid a superhero immensely.
Maybe skip college and do flexible online learning.
I think the optimus prime voice comment from oak is funny, i just think its an awesome voice, never watched transformers when i was young.
I think we all have different versions of that though
As long as they just stick to adapting the comic it's going to be a wild ride. They've made some nice changes for the most part that have been surprising for even comic readers. Season 3 is going to be even more wild than season 2.

Allen is higher up than most, but there are still a lot of people that pass him. For perspective, he’s below a little above invincible at this point, but below Omni Man. Bulletproof isn’t as strong as Invincible either just as a so you know

I don't get why people hate this season. Me personally a show/Season dosnt need 10/10 writing and fight scenes for it to be enjoyable to me.
Fun fact in TWD i think it was either S5 or 6 you can see Carl reading a Invincible comic.
Some people dislike it and that's their choice, but many more like it very much aswell. So no worries, it's a fantastic series.

Just wasn't as good as the first season. Everything in S1 felt purposeful, felt like it had a ton of meaning. The first half of this season was good, but the second half just felt rushed and bad, with so much filler. Then it felt like it ended 2 or 3 episodes early.
