Still miss Bob and hope to see him soon, but I want to complement Mike who has knowledge and is very personable. I recommend this channel to everyone and will keep doing so.
Here's a tip from a guy with arthritis, under 60 = Good advice here, one thing that can help if you have knee pain (and lower back pain) is to get in a bent knee position (in Karate or martial arts it's called the "Horse position") while doing the dishes, brushing teeth or other similar movements you do every day. Bend your knees while up to the sink - it takes pressure off of the lower back immediately, but also will keep those knees in a bent, not locked-out position = your knees and lower back will thank you. I also do knees over toes for extreme knee bending, but I do it safely and under control via a suspension trainer. These pains kept me from lifting weights, which I've done since my early teens, but some minor adjustments and good practices, like those described in this vid, will help and has helped me get back into serious weightlifting - not at loads of my 20s-40s but enough to grow and maintain muscle.
Thanks
Thank you for sharing
Thank you, I’ll try this tonight. I can walk just fine but standing still hurts too much.
Thank you for not doing that loooooong intro for your videos! Now I really enjoy them again. Good stuff!
Glad you like them this way, thanks for watching
Thank you both!
You're very welcome! We appreciate you watching!
Thank you for a very informative video. I would like to add two things that I found to damage my knees: #1 lifting objects that are too heavy for me. My orthopedist told me when I tore my meniscus that it was because i lifted several boxes of books that day and I felt the tearing. #2 I went to an exercise class in the swim pool and I was asked by teacher to make BIG CIRCLES with my hanging knee. Again MD said the tortion of the knee caused my other injury during that class.
Oh, my goodness. I teach water aerobics and know how that can add to damage when done incorrectly. I hope you find a class where the teacher offers modifications and other options.
Thank you!
Thanks so much, Bob and Mike!! Very helpful and timely advice for me at 67 with just the beginnings of knee issues! I will give these exercises a go and hope for improvement! Love to Brad!❤️
Thank you for sharing…very helpful.
Happy to help!
Thanks so much guys. So much good information always.
You are very welcome!
I appreciate the range of motion exercises you included here. I work on this with seniors in my fitness classes. 👍
Glad they were helpful!
Thanks!!
Excellent ❤ Thank you!
Glad you liked it!
The practice that hurt my knee was that I knelt often at work while installing exhibits. This was on carpeting, and I reached side to side getting tools, paint can etc. This twisting went into my left knee and eventually tore the mensicus. I should have been wearing hard-shell knee pads and not twisting so much.
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for all the hard work you do making very helpful and informative videos, I have learned alot from this channel ❤😊
Thank you for your appreciation and dedication to our channel! That is very much appreciated!
Really fantastic video guys! Very concise, organized and informative. I think your videos are getting better and better, and I love the humor thrown in too! 5:15 🤣 Great reminders of what we shouldn't do to our knees (and what we should do instead!) Thank you so much for the work you all do! ❤
That's so nice to hear, thank you!
thank you
Very Nice. Thank you!
You are very welcome!
I've had HORRIBLE knee problems for 15 years. I finally found something, thanks to my ortho doc that works very well.
Synvisc!
It feels exactly like having oil put in and all around the knee.
It lasts 5- 6 months.
Quite honestly, it makes it where I can 'live' again.
I can't recommend it more.
Perfection!!
It’s SO PAINFUL.
Thanks for sharing! I have added this to our to do list!
I am glad it works for you. As in everything, it doesn’t work for everyone. I had it, it was very painful for days, and had zero effect.
Worst things you can do to your knees are not drink enough water to keep the cartilage soft and spongy, and, run on cement. Not drinking enough water will cause the cartilage in your knees to harden. Running on cement sidewalks will destroy your knees.
Thanks ❤
Happy to help!
Brad, I ike the sound effects! Lol Blessings!
Thanks Brad 😊
Anytime!
At 69 years old and having a lot of arthritis that requires daily PT exercises to reduce my pain, I found a motivational saying that keeps me doing the exercises: "After six months you will have either six months of excuses, or six months of progress. The choice is yours."
All of your videos are interesting and very helpful. One observation though. For knee health you suggest NOT landing on the heel but on the toe area or flat. When I did that I was prone to tripping and have intense fear of falling/injury. So I land on my heels in order to keep my toes elevated a tiny bit to avoid tripping. I'm a klutz -- I can and have tripped on a clean floor - its not that there are tripping hazards around, it seems to be how I walk. I attempt to keep my knees "soft" and follow other instructions other times but I DO NOT want to fall and injure myself.
Same Here fear of tripping with foot landing on front I need to land on heel for my safety I’m 81 scary
Exercise of all kinds and stretching has always been in my life every day. My destress plan. However, I discovered that when you fracture your ankle and tear many main ligaments, the boot you have to wear plays havok with your knee. I got permission to do these specific exercises from my PT so I am doing these exercises. Thank you, I am seeing slow, but definite improvement! I do have to keep watching the videos, for accuracy, but they are working. 😊
💕💗💕🙏🙏🙏 Thanks for your videos, they are very informative. Have a blessed day!!!
You are very welcome! Thank you for watching and commenting!
Tendonitis in my right knee, after hurting my left meniscus.. no arthritis in either, but still so bothersome 😔.. I'll definitely try these..
I'm 62 and my knees click alot, but never hurt, I'm very active, but do I need to be taking something for better lubricantion?
It took over a year to learn to comfortably walk with a toe strike as opposed to the heel strike. But boy did it make a huge difference in my right knee! Rick Olderman, thank you for working with Bob,Brad and Mike to educate us!
Great to hear you got it! It's amazing right!?!
Any suggestions for how to strengthen knees when you've got patellar tendonitis AND hip arthritis? Because of the arthritis I don't have a lot of range of motion in the hip and a lot of pain, as well as a lot of pain from the knee tendonitis.
Good video.👍
Glad you liked it!
The tip about standing and walking with your knees slightly bent is awesome.
Thank you for the advice and excercise. I have bad knees that act up every now and then.
You are very welcome!
Wondering if you habe any suggestions on how to stretch a knee that has a "Bakers Cyst" on it?
If u have arthritic knee pain can u still work out or should you avoid working out until it’s fully pain free.
I have a knee cap that I have dislocated twice . My doctor just keeps injections of cortisone ? I have been told that I’m a Tkr candidate. Should I keep getting the injections or not ?
I recently fell and it felt like my knee gave out. I have an awesome chiropractor who said that can come from the hip. We also discovered my fibia was out of alignment. So it never hurts to go see a good sports chiropractor
Hi Bob and Brad💖🩷❤️
Hi!!
Neither of my knees extends fully and neither will flex more than 90 degrees. Ortho appointment on Monday to see if I need surgery on the left, most likely a yes, and what to do about the right one. I worry about the condition of the muscles since they haven't been fully utilized in over a year.
My knees are good but suffer from bad ankles especially the left! Can you help?
Are those Xero shoes you're wearing Mike? You should talk about those.
Appreciate your videos as always. Glad to see you still having fun while doing it.
Just follow with this account been a long term sub on my main. You all are the best!
That's very nice to hear, thank you so much for your support!
The exercise you do at the start... moving the knee cap... I have NEVER been able to do that. Even as a child.
I've started doing the stationary bike, the recumbent where you sit back, and I worry about the knee pain. It's not too bad but I don't want to create a problem. I looked it up and it said it's strengthening the muscle around the knees?
Not an expert, but I have a background in personal training. I know working your way up to a normal upright stationary bike is much better for you overall because it strengthens all muscles of the leg as well as the entire core (including the lower back). Even if you hold onto the handles, low resistance, and slow cadence, this is still better than moving faster or with more resistance on a recumbent bike. Definitely ask someone if you aren’t sure about proper form. Many personal trainers are fine giving advice m/tips for free when it comes to simple form checks.
@@She_it_her Oh Ok. I'll keep that in mind, especially if I buy one. I also want a new bike cruiser, for fun. I have a low back vertebrae out of alignment, and I guessed recumbent would put less strain. I don't know, it's a learning process.
Get a “partial” knee replacement before you need a “full”. Recovery of Knee surgery is a difficult but worth it.😊🎉
I can’t find an orthopedic surgeon who will do a lateral partial knee replacement in my area!
Your videos are good for us seniors. This one has too many things to remember. Do you offer printouts?
Glad they are helpful! We do have some of our videos dictated. Just reach out to team@bobandbrad.com with the name of the video to see if they can send you a dictation of it.
Are there braces to prevent your knee from locking out straight when you walk? If so, please elaborate.
So here’s a question for you. As an older person my sense of balance is not as good. If I trip on something I am more apt to fall all the way down than I used to. To keep from tripping I try to walk heel first so i don’t trip over something on the ground.
One knee hurts going up and down stairs..but not with walking or light running. And it hurts less if I do a light workout if I go up and down steps for a bit…weird.
I hyper extended my left knee last year getting off my forklift at work I know I tore something
I have AVN in both knees. Not much I can do for that.
I sawed my kneecap with a skillsaw. Looking back,I wish I wouldn't have done that .
Thank you... but where is brad?
Call me crazy but the knees won't work right unless the hip joint has full range of motion. 😮
Some PT Professionals are saying that developing butt muscles instead of quads is better for knee pain. Have you heard oh this
✨❤️✨
Here’s another bad habit, join the Marines.
Where is Brad?
Brad is behind the camera these days. He was diagnosed with a condition that affects his speech and some of his motor skills. That is why Mike has been Bob's assistant recently on the podcasts.
I'm guessing vax injured 😢
the worst thing I know of is landing on your heels when you run or jog. Absolute death to knee cartilage. Guaranteed to end in knee pain in later years.
Obesity would make second place on my list.
Play Golf.
1:50 so that’s why Joe Biden walks funny.
The worst thing you can do is drink coffee all your life as it destroys the ligaments that hold your knees together.
Really??????
Well, that’s the most depressing thing I’ve heard in a while!☕️🥰
Yowza! Nice calves you got there, Brad! 😄
