Following Van Morrison for 40 years and listening to the soulful, poetry, the voice, the tantrums, the anger , the pain the disatisfaction, the love, the yearning. and so on and on. He is a very complicated artist with many layers. What can I say he is Irish and tough as nails. That is how he rolls. You can't change people you have to accept them just as they are. It's too late too stop now.
Oh so angry in this one, he must have his reasons why, that worried look upon his face, different than his usual grace - in presentation. We forgive this temperament - for his songs are heaven sent and there are no others like him. Play me a softer - kinder version when you scatter my ashes in the river that leads out to the sea. In the Derwent under the Hobart bridge.
I was at this concert and hearing this song live made if one of my favorites. His song writing and voice evoked strong visual images. I would not have guessed that 4 years later would begin a 5 album collaboration in that 5 albums from 79 to 1986 were recorded in my studio only a few miles away from Winterland, over the Golden Gate Bridge in Sausalito. Surely one of the most important songwriters of the 20th century. Few fans have heard all his recorded music, with so many albums. His personality was sometimes demanding, when something did not fit his desired outcome but overall sessions were relaxed, flowed and inventive. He wanted the 24 track 2 inch tape analog recorders running the whole time he was on the studio side of the control room glass so hundreds of reels were used, but the label allowed it and we billed them for the $100 reels. Everyone was proud to be working on those albums.

You know I will be coming home
And when that fog horn whistle blows
I gotta hear it
