i am amazed. he has always had an incredible economy of motion, yet now i would dare say he has reached near perfection. i would love to hear from him his perspective as the performer if he feels he struggles with any particular thing at all. in fact i would love to read some interviews.

creo que por lo menos una vez por trimestre todos los guitarristas aficionados deberíamos redescubrir a nuestro tatarabuelo Fernando Sor. El gran Roland Dyens, dicen que siempre programaba una obra suya en sus conciertos. Pero este homenaje de Ponce es sublime. Y esta versión está a la altura de todo lo dicho antes.

He’s muting the strings near the bridge with the heel of his right hand. This is called “pizzicato” or “étouffé.” It’s a well known technique among guitarists.
