What a sublime performance by this maestro. This is the first time I've encountered her playing, but it won't be the last! A world class and exemplary player.
I've been wrestling with this piece for years - with a modicum of success, but I'm reminded here of my school maths lessons where I struggled to get an odd thing right [proudly], only to witness a cohort getting most things right seemingly effortlessy and one or two who got everything right, consistently. The moral: stand back and admire those infinitely more talented than oneself; which was probably the most telling lesson I learnt at school.
All 3 guitars were flawless in sound, intonation and beauty of tone. I couldn't choose between them.
I have been following Petra’s videos on youtube for a long time.
About a decade ago, she was already showing artistic maturity playing some of S.L.Weiss' works. This latest series of videos posted by Guitar International shows an even greater artist. Congratulations Petra!

Simply Superb!!! Anyone who has ever played classical guitar and study any of Ponce’s Sonatas know how difficult they all are. I only learned one Sonata Romantica. Petra is wonderful to watch and listen to. I look forward to seeing more of her playing on CZcams.

What an interesting story this piece tells.
Yet another terrific performance by this consummate musician. Her phrasing, never hesitant but always spacious and meaningful, brings the music to life with rare vitality. Add to this the effortless technique and constantly evolving dynamics, and the results are a definitive reading that the composer would have been proud to hear. Is this the Sviatoslav Richter of the guitar?

If you ever need to know "Why does the Guitar exist?" and "Why was Manuel Maria Ponce born?" -- well here's your definitive answer. An unforgettable performance, music, and instrument. I don't recall being so delighted and moved by a guitarist since watching Isbin play Decameron Negro in Boston a quarter of a century ago.
Have you considered recording this as an album? I tried searching Petra on Spotify but I couldn't find any of her music!
