It feels like Nintendo is trying to re-appeal to niche audiences to bring back the "golden years" of gaming.

ngl I would love to see a Wario World 2 👀 or an HD remaster of the original game

Fun video! It's a bit out there, but I'm personally crossing my fingers for a new Flipnote Studio. It was pretty big on the Nintendo DSi, and it seems ripe for a comeback even if the online functionality is more limited. And while past entries have been free, I think it could be a really nice addition to, say, a higher Nintendo Switch Online subscription tier or something?

Man, a new Flipnote studio would be so fun! I remember making some stuff on my old DSi XL. Unfortunately, I don’t see them making it for the Switch but one can certainly hope!

Indeed! I'm not sure I see it happening either, but a guy can dream. The studio I work for just shipped a digital painting app for the Switch, and it seems people are really hungry for creative applications on there (who knew!?), so perhaps some indie developer will pick up the torch :)

You need to get rid of the notion that if a game doesn't sell at least 3 million units it flopped, It's a very flawed mindset. Selling 1 million is a major success for most companies, and the vast majority of game studios wish they sell as much as these Nintendo franchises. You ought to start playing more indie games.

I never said 1 million units was a low number though, much less 3 million. But when you sell half a million or especially less than a quarter, that’s when I think Nintendo considers the game a failure, especially when their smaller series usually crack at least 2 million.
