Honestly. People talk about how pushed Fenrir is and how Shangri-Ira can lock up all the relevant zones, but this is low-key possibly the most toxic thing about Kashtira. Especially while some decks' key ED monsters like Kitkallos and Electrumite are at 1.

it still baffles me that the people designing the kashtira cards at no point thought "are these cards really any fun?" one of the most unfun set of cards i've had the displeasure to play against
They're pretty lore accurate at least, you really feel like you're getting invaded by tyrannical aliens that want to strip mine your planet, except, you know it's really, really not a fun deck to play against.

I think the zone lock mechanic could've been interesting if it was dialed back a bit and the Kash effects also played with zone placement like Mekk Knight or Magical Musket

What, don't you just *have* to know who the last follower was? Don't you just need to know what game the yugituber is playing? What if it was the extremely rare Isaac or Ace Attorney stream? You could've mistook them for Master Duel!
with some rudimentary photoshop estimation and calculations, ~30% of the screen space is wasted (though some of that is the space for chat, the percentage goes to 22% if you count the exact spaces the bubbles are showing up)
Kash is a very funny deck. Not for the fact that it does what it does, but the fact that Konami thought it was a good idea to print a deck that does what Kash does.

@@jayman445 1st: The archetype's funny cuz it's broken , too broken. Konami thought "Let's make a deck that literally stops your opponent from doing literally anything, surely it'll be a good idea", that's why I think it's funny.
2nd: A deck's not automatically bad just because it's broken, may be toxic, but there's a difference.
3rd: It doesn't need Diablosis, it just happened to have a lot of synergy with the deck, it doesn't need it to the point that the deck's still top tier even without it.
4th: Good monster design. That's the whole 4th point.
People are coping so hard if they think this is a healthy and balanced deck.

@@luigifan4585 as someone who didn't even build tear (without ishizu) until its pack was nearly over, and played against it a lot.
I would 100% take tear over kash any day of the week, if kash banished face up it would be 100x more bearable because then I can atleast play cards that shuffle my banished cards back or get effects when banished

I love decks that kinda control the board state and while yeah, tear is extremely overpowered, it still does appeal to my preferred style of gameplay. I will agree that it needs to be neutered because its way too far ahead of everything else but that doesnt make it not fun to play, does it? I am pretty sure that this is also not all that rare, like yeah some people just play it because they always play whats meta, but even they will have fun because chasing the meta is fun for them.
That being said, i have no insight into kash. I do think that at least the last bit i said for tear also applies to kash, tho

That traptrix match pains me to watch. They had multiple occasion to remove the monster but they choose not to... Either remove both the level 7 when they get on the board, or remove only 1 of them by targeting Sera so they can't unicorn/fenrir. And even if you missed that, you should have fired on the Tomahawk...

I used to run double o-lion in adventure tenyi....but I feel like that decks entire game plan revolved around auororadon whereas kash can do other things if you draw into the one o lion

I said this in a past comment but, since the games are best of 1, I honestly see no benefit to early surrender. The whole point of early surrenders is "I can't win, but the less I show the better for future games, " but again best of 1 so no point. Sure if your opponent has a good enough combo that they could win, still no point in surrendering early cause, Idk, maybe they'll missclick or something?
The only "benefit" to early surrender is not having your time wasted, and if that's the case that says a lot about what you're playing against
Macro Cosmos hasn’t prevented significant discard costs in a decade lol. They barely printed any cards since then that have it specify GY. Lots of milling costs obviously still do though.

I love how some things work only because Konami says so. Did you know Xyz materials go to grave under Macro effects when the monster leaves the field, yet pendulums get banished anyways despite wanting to go to the Extra Deck? How about that the few terrible cards that can summon from grave ignoring summoning conditions need monsters with summoning conditions to have been summoned properly?
So xyz materials are not cards on field (nor are they in your possession) which is why they don't count as cards for things like purgatrio or exciton... so when xyz material is moved to the gy it's actually being sent from a location that doesn't exist which is why xyz material skirts *most macro-like floodgates
Pends: fun fact the pend eff to return to ed is actually just a normal replacment effect. So, under macro when a pend is popped and would be sent to gy you have 2 conflicting continuous effects and when there are conflicting continuous effects the most recently applied wins ie macro
The confusion with simi-nomi monsters and "ignoring summoning conditions" in tcg is not a "Konami says so" issue its very much a 2002 upper deck chose to poorly format their cards and didn't deal with the nomi keyword properly so now the international edition of yugioh 20 years later can't properly seperate literal *glossary* *rules* *text* from a fking summoning condition... An issue exasperated when the average tcg player can't be bothered learning anything harder than , vs ; psct
@@mattr791 Does Yugioh have a comprehensive rules like Magic that encompasses how all cards should interact with one another? No? Then Konami said that Macro effects don't apply to Xyz materials. Also they could change the semi-nomi rule and the meta would not change, all the cards that would be impacted are terrible even if they could combo with (Extra) Foolish Burial.

Macro effects do apply to xyz mats in exactly the same way they apply to any other cards in the game. Remember xyz mats when sent by game mechanic do not have supertypes nor are they being sent from field...
Macro shifter and ariseheart banish all "cards" so they do banish xyz mats
Difi only banishes "monsters" and xyz mats are not monsters so they won't be banished
Shenshen is only cards from field and xyz mats dont exist on field so they won't be banished
Believe it or not with exception of snoww slumber and encore yugioh cards do exactly what they say they do
The rules around cheating nomi and simi-nomis out of public knowledge locations suck and 100% should be reworked but tbf you can't "simply errata 3000 cards" and konami did more or less solve the problem a decade ago by just never printing more cards like flattop

The zone lock is a lingering effect that persists as long as shang is faceup on field
Books get shang off the field around its protection + if you go first book is incredibly good disruption vs kash
That being said book is not good in md yet and I have no idea why people are playing it.. Kash pre-support is bad, and book is just worse imperm/drnm into the rest of the format

Really awful deck, first time in MD's history since Drytron Herald was meta that the game is just "whoever goes first wins" except there's like a 15% chance they brick, so you don't scoop as soon as you see one of their cards, you have to wait to see their opener play out (or just hope they're bad.) And you just know Konami is gonna do something useless like semi-limit Ogre and limit Mind Hacker when Ariseheart comes out, as if that'll keep the deck in check

@@rickstar5773 It is a lot like maxx C, it keeps combo decks "in-check" going second, but the problem is that it makes the turn 1 boards even stronger.

My point was that as it stands right now in MD Kashtira just isn't a good enough strategy to enforce it's gameplan which is yes very toxic, but it just doesn't work well enough to feel oppressive as it wants to, the archetype's only saving grace being Fenrir which is just good by itself, but we're not calling Dinowrestler a meta contender just because Pankratops exists are we?
Now later on when Arise-Heart comes out this whole discussion gets flipped on its head but that's a different story for a different day.

Getting out of gold is kinda like saying you graduated elementary school tho. Pretty much any deck can get into plat5. I did it with tellarknights back when plat1 was still the highest rank
