  • Deer hair is such a fun material to tie with, especially when tying Dave Whitlock style mouse and rat patterns. I recently started tying with deer hair again after a long break, so my technique needs a little work I know. The beauty of tying big pike/musky patterns is that you don't need to be precise. Anyway enjoy and give it a go.
    Material List:
    Hook: Ahrex PR350 or 351 6/0 and 4/0
    Shank: 35mm
    Thread: White Veevus 200D GSP
    Belly: White Deer Hair belly
Back: Cow Elk Back-strip in Natural
    Tail: White Jumbo Slim
    Ears: Tan Nayat skin
    Eyes: 6mm red
Legs: Waspi Silly Legs in Orange/white

This is absolutely amazing mate. I can’t wait to try this one. Never tied with deer hair before so this will be a good one to test me for sure! 😍👌👌

I’d throw this at musky over all the flies I’ve tied for them any day! Great fly man!

I love tying mouse patterns for trout and never thought about articulating them. The only issue I’d find is after tying this is not wanting to throw it, losing it after a 45 minute tie would be heartbreaking. Awesome pattern, man and I’ll be sure to tie a few of them for my “big game” box

That is a great looking pattern. The ears are a nice touch, very realistic. Have you had many pike on it. Like the look of your set up, would you recommend the Vision gear? I have been looking at the Keeper Peto looks good for the price

Thank you so very much for the great video!! However, I don't in any way mean to be rude or Sarcastic, yet I had to mute the audio, as your choice of Rock music, is very rowdy, and not at all harmonious, with fly tying!! Fly tying (since I began in 1978), puts me in a Tranquil mood, when accompanied with soft Jazz/Rock/Blues/soul, or no music at all)!! But as they say, "to each his/her own"!!
