- The Brandy Alexander is actually a variation of the long forgotten classic, the gin-based Alexander. The Brandy Alexander was created in New York City at Hotel Rector at the turn of the 20th century.

Man it has been a long, long time since I've made a Brandy Alexander... this really shows off that simple, 3-ingredient cocktails can pack in the flavour - rich, chocolate-y and creamy... delicious! Make sure you use the freshly grated nutmeg to finish it off!

Legend! Thanks Son of Zeus - appreciate the continued support!! It keeps me uploading!
@@StevetheBartender_ Keep up the good work mate! Your videos are literally the best! Greetings from Berlin
Oh yeah, the wife loves these around the holidays...or any day that ends in a "Y".🎄🤶🎅 🥂
Wow this actually looks fantastic! Gotta make that creme de cacao...
Thanks mate i will be making this for a family member this weekend
A nice dessert cocktail and a guilty pleasure of mine.
Hi Steve, I have only recently got into making cocktails and your videos are the best on CZcams. Clear, easy to follow, no nonsense and no gimmicks, all with a bit of humour. You have given me so many ideas to use and techniques that I have been practising. I can't do the grin though!
Guests are coming on Saturday for a gin cocktail extravanza. I might have to sneak out and watch your videos if I can't remember.
Hi Terry! Thank you for your kind words! :) How did your party go on Saturday night? Bet you served up some delicious cocktails!
@@StevetheBartender_ Hi Steve, I did a menu of 10 gin cocktails for people to choose from, including a French 75, gin collins, negroni, gin mojito, intro to Aperol and a clover club. Comments were very positive, saying the balance of the ingredients were better than some local bars and that the presentation was very professional! Thanks again Steve for showing me how to do it. Now I've got to learn some vodka cocktails!
Thanks for a simple recipe to make at home.
That looks tasty I dont know why I've never made it before
Gotta get to work on that creme de cacao....great job steve
I like Brandy Alexander with ice cream. I omit the ice and cream and I taste until I get it right with the UNMEASURED other 2 ingredients. I must say I feel pretty good after a few tests
Try a Brandy Flip for your winter!
Ooh that looks nice 🤩
TFS. Great demo. As I write this, I’m listening to Julian Avila “Me 2”. My kind of music.
I have a barreled reserve gin from Beehive Distilling that I bet would be perfect for this cocktail.
You know what you need is like a little drink pouring montage after you say hi and before the video begins.
Simply delicious
Great video
love your vids man keep it up
I love this drink! I discovered it watching a John Lennon documentary. It was his favorite drink. For someone who doesn't drink often it's easy to love much like a White Russian or Long island Iced Tea. Amazingly, I've recently requested this while dining as a desert drink and the server didn't know what it was and the bartender didn't know how to make it. They also didn't have cognac or brandy on hand.
What type of bar was it? All cocktail bars should know a Brandy Alexander! 😁
Great to hear from you. I was taken to dinner at local Outback Steakhouse bar and the other was a hotel that was Hilton related. Like I stated earlier I thought they could Google it or at least had a reference book at the bar.
Sean Swinton yeah, they should just say “I’ll bring it over to you” then quickly find out 😕
I meant to ask, have you heard of bars not having cognac or brandy, especially during holidays like Christmas?
Each to his own Steve
I've tried gin based (aka OG Alexander) and I must say the taste will evolve as the drink warms up due to the botanical.
Give it a try if you want!
Also here's my thumbs up!
On which video do you link the Nick and Nora glasses
Wow
Do you know a good phone app for cocktails ?
Hey Steve
Ive been looking for cocktail with Pernod, but somehow it pretty hard to find any, could you make a video with pernod, pastis and absinthe :D
Yep! Will once I get some more bottles... 👌
@@StevetheBartender_ great :)
Hi Steve, can you scale this up for maybe a holiday party? I'm thinking similarly to spiced eggnog.
ghost_mv I actually batch this a day ahead and keep it in a sealed bottle in the fridge. Give it a quick shake in the bottle, Pour in a glass top with nutmeg and serve. I find the flavours combine / evolve after a 24 sit in the fridge.
Stephane Foisy so you just make several single servings in their own bottles? Or do you scale it up and put it in a sealed pitcher of some kind?
@@gh05t_mv One big sealed jug. Like an empty liquor bottle or other similar bottle.
Hi Steve, great vid! I'm from europe, and since its so crazy hot (nothing compared to australia I know) What are your recommendations on some good summer cocktails?
Hi! I know you've asked Steve's opinion, but if I were you I'd make either Aperol Spritz or Mojito. These are the two basic summer cocktails as far as I know...
Is it just me or is anybody else curious to know who the actual #%^* is disliking these awesome vids? like c’mon! the guy is showing you how to make something..... either take notes or if you don’t like it just p*** off. Simple as that.
I've tried also Sister of Alexander: gin + mint liqour + cream.
Sad you did n’t use ‘Not your nanny’s brandy’ but I guess the premium one is cool.
(I did the label I’ll on nonbank) 😁
The same company produces both products (Not your Nanna's Brandy + Black Bottle) - pretty sure it's from the same distillery in Renmark, SA..
As far as I knew the original alexander had cognac instead of brandy...never heard of the gin tbh
The original Alexander called for gin - predates the Brandy Alexander by at least 15 years.. interesting read: www.diffordsguide.com/en-au/encyclopedia/1072/cocktails/alexander-cocktail
@@StevetheBartender_ wow ye nice reading. I agree tho Gin with cream and chocolate liquor....sounds wired :\
How much does this cost when you order this at a bar?
Depends on the bar.
Yummyz 👍🥂
Hilo i am still study as bartending
💎🍺❤
Anyway not anyways, no such word as anyways
Thank you so much for your insight 🤦♂️
*Hybrid Alexander ;)
Hey Steve. Check ig, I tagged u in some vids lol
